Recently a friend of mine had her art banned off art arena.
She was told it was for 'eyeballing (drawing from a prexisting image)' an image (that coincidentally, has quite a few differences from the original they were throwing out).
I think that the policies of 'no eyeballing' and 'no drawing off a photo' are complete bullshit. It seriously pisses me off as an artist to know that these people who 'mod' art arena are such moronic elitists with their heads up their asses, that they think 'OMG I drew this by myself! Im better than you!' Guess what? Many artists start off by 'eyeballing' and this is the kind of crap that would discourage a beginner from trying to show what they've done.
Additionally if the 'drawing from a photo' is so bad, then we might as well burn many paintings from art history; since they painted off photos.
The art arena can go ******** itself.

Wow, that is a very silly decision, in my opinion... I am guessing that your friend claimed this was an "eyeballed" piece, right? She did say it wasn't her original piece, right? If so, I see no problem if she did "eyeball" but if not, obviously this is plagerism, even if there were changes..

And I agree that art is nothing but "eyeballing" some time. Especially classical art and so on. Michelangelo him self copied Greek statues...

I hate posting my art in the arena. The mods are evil, and then your work gets rated by gold hungry children who don't care whether or not they give you a zero or a ten. At least in the Artist's Corner you can get actual comments on your work. I much prefer to post my work on deviantart, though. See?

Ah, deviantART... I haven't been there in quite a long while. I have an account there and a spot o' poetry but I haven't really been active for a very very very long time.
Perhaps... death can solve this art arena problem? Death can solve many problems, as I've come to discover. Surely it can be applied in some way to the hellish art arena...

So would you kill the the evil people or just kill the art arena altogether? razz Ah, yes, deviantart. I have an account there too, but I haven't been there in a months. Probably because I'm not an artist. whee

Blarg, I only go to deviantart to check stuff out, mostly from the dude "bleedman" who writes and draws the PPG series. Excellent artist, he needs his own friggin' webcomic.
