Yaay! Now that the guild's up, let's get things started! In this topic, state what got ya into Phantasy Star, stuff like that.
Here's mah story:
What got me into PS games was my dad bought 4 for the Genesis. He wanted a RPG for it, and got that game. Me and my sister (of whom I'm trying to get to join the guild) fell in love with the game, and then my dad sold the genesis and all of our games (after the battery died out on the PSIV cartdrige). After a few years, I discovered ROMS. I then d/led PSIV, and then PSII and III, and of course I. Only one I got into, though, besides IV, was II. Then, last year, I bought a used Genesis at a used game place for 8 bucks. Then I began my search for the Phantasy Stars. They then released PS Collections for the GBA, but I couldn't find the damn thing anywhere, and when I did, I didn't have the money. I then found, this past month, PSIV for teh Genesis, used, for 29 bucks. I literally ran to my mother for an extra 5 bucks. Most excersise I got in a few months. Then, last friday, I got PS collections for the GBA. Now I have about 8 rpgs to finish..... 4 of them being Phantasy Stars, and 3 of them being Final Fantasies, one being Chrono Cross, and another being Xenosaga...

I got started pretty young. I was 4 or 5 I think. Anyway, we had a genesis and Phantasy Star 3. I would love watching my mom play and I would try occasionally. Damned Chripers would always kill me. sweatdrop 2 or three years later I got Phantasy Star 2 for my birthday...or maybe it was Christmas. I dont remember the medications I took through out my childhood took care of most memories and had some negative affects on my sanity. Back on topic I played the game and quite well. I would learn my first true defeat with this game as it was more than Game Over at the Nei First fight. Everytime I reached that fight ALL saved data would be destroyed and Id have to start over. whee Eventually I gave up on it and sold it hoping to use the money to buy another copy, but they didnt sell genesis games. sad So I waited and mastered my skills in RPGs with Phantasy Star 3. Two years ago my friend traded me Phantasy Star 4 for a copy of Shining Force or some other game like that. I would master that game within a month. I then got Phantasy Star collection 7 or 8 months ago. I could finally remove the damage to my record of beaten games. 5 months ago I finally beat Phantasy Star 2. 3nodding And now I aid people on PSCave in building their Fan games by fixing up images from the games.

Needed a new game to rent at Pharmor. Saw 4 copies of PSIV, and the images on back looked cool. Rented alot over several months. Bought new that year for Christmas for $30 at KB Toys. Rented 2 then 3 from a local chain (2 stores). Bought PSII off of them. I'd have to open the box and check the price, but I know I had to borrow money from mom. redface Bought PSIII about a year after that from a used game store for $17.99. Still looking for a place that sells Collection for the GBA in my area. Grrr...
Pharmor and the local rental store are now both out of business. crying

Phantasy Star IV was the first RPG I ever played and I fell absolutely in love with it! It was fantastic, and it's a standard to which I hold all other games I play! I came across it by chance while renting games at a local supermarket. Lucky chance, 'cause it changed my life!

ack, I feel old all of a sudden....
I played the original Phantasy Star I on the Genesis. I liked it because it was the only game I found with a girl as the lead character. And she wasn't a wimp waiting to be rescued: she could fight and use magic! I really got into that game. I mapped everything. I think I still have all the notes in a folder buried in my closet somewhere. When I finished playing it, I went back and played it all over again. When the next one came out with a guy as the lead character (the usual in those days), I got mad and didn't play the sequels!

I could have sworn PS1 was on the Master System or something. 2) You missed alot by avoiding the sequels. Nei, Rika, Alys, and Laya(and other PS3 girls) weren't exactly the main characters of the games they were in but they hold alot of importance. Play the sequels please. 3nodding You will like them.

Phantasy Star IV was the game that first got me started on playing RPGs. I was about 12 years old at the time. I'd known a guy back then who was a big gamer until he went away to Nottingham and had a lot of educational work to get on with. I borrowed the game from his elder brother and loved it to pieces. I asked if he was willing to sell it. He gave it to me for £10.

i was over my cousin erics house.. his mom rented PSIV (4) and we started playing... i thought it was pretty fun, but i only played for about an hour, then my mom came to pick me up, and the game was lost to me. I remember saying something like "oh look at that!" when i saw the little xeno whatever in the basement. the little guy who runs to the left when you 1st aproach it. Then i left... and the game was lost like i said. YEARS later, and i mean like... 6 atleast... i was with my old bf adam at a local rental store... and i saw the PS4 game box... i picked it up.. looked at the back.. and saw the look alike pictures of chaz and what not... and then all the sudden, the biggest case of dejavue (however its spelled) hit me, and i was like OH MY GOD NO WAY! and i kind of forced my bf to rent it for me.... and i played it till 3am that night! (started at 5 pm) and was so obssessed it was bad lol i almost cried when Alys died, that was a bad day lol, i think i was like 12 or something, in all honesty im not 100% sure of the years... but it was so awesome finnally seeing the game. After about a minimum of 30 rentals, constantly playing the game... i always got stuck at Zio, his magic barrier thing and u only do 1 damage to him, you used the phsycho wand on the front entrance, but i had no idea it worked on him... anyways - then N64 came... and PS... and they ditched all the genesis games. and for another few years, my passion was lost. Then mom had ebay, and it dawned on me! WHY NOT LOOK! then for 30 something dollars, i bought Ps2,3,4 so now im happy! ps3 seems to be weird on the text parts, when reading talking from people, it like... repeats whats said + seems to move too fast to read.. anyways thats my huge huge story!

I was addicted to Phantasy Star from the start. It is what also got me interested in anime. I played all of them in succession and it drove me crazy.
This was one of the best series created, but it never gets the love it deserves.

This guild seems very quiet. sad *hopes there are still people who come here*
Uhmm PSIV was my first RPG... I mean, the first RPG I played through by myself (before I played Chrono Trigger countless times on the New Game Plus) Well at the same time I was playing another RPF ^^;; *Tales of Phantasia*
Yup, you guessed it on my last sentence... ROMs. xP
I loved every minute of PSIV: The characters, the still anime scenes... Alys. sad
I'm currently playing through PSII on the GBA, by the way. ^_^
Oh, I did play PSII on the computer. My friend and I were both at the same area, and we talked over the phone trying to find our way through the island with the Maurea Leaves. xD We never found any, and eventually my computer somehow got screwed up. o0;;
Where in PSII on the GBA am I in right now? Ehmm I kind of forgot how hard this game is, and so I'm still on my first mission. xD
Meo meo
