Poems, songs, ect.

Songs about werewolves, *lots*

"The transformation" And "Night of the wolf"

the werewolf song
Oh the werewolf, oh the werewolf
Comes a steppin' along
He don't even break the branches
Where he's been gone

You can hear his long holler from away 'cross the moor
That's the holler of a werewolf when he's feelin' poor

He goes out in the evenin' when the bats 're on the wing
An' he's killed some young maiden before the birds sing

For the werewolf, for the werewolf
Have sympathy
'cause the werewolf he is someone
Just like you an' me

Once i saw him in the moonlight when the bats were a flyin'
All alone i saw the werewolf and the werewolf was cryin'

Cryin' nobody, nobody, nobody knows
How much i love the maiden as i tear off his cloths
Cryin' nobody, nobody, knows of my pain
When i see it has risen that full moon again

When i see that moon movin' through the clouds in the sky
I get a crazy feelin' an' i wonder why

Oh the werewolf, oh the werewolf
Comes travelin' along
He don't even break the branches
Where he's been gone

For the werewolf have pity, not fear, an' not hate
'cause the werewolf might be someone that you've known of late

Oh the werewolf, oh the werewolf
Comes travelin' along
He don't even crush the leaves
Where he's been gone

Quote:

A werewolf poem) The Hunter of the Plain
by the phantom pheonix

Thursday, March 06, 2003

Sometimes it is our myths and legends that help protect this earth and it's natural beauty.

Hunter of the plain
Beast of the full moon
A gun that is glinting with pale moonlight
A man; a hunter watches the world of nature around
As wild horses run the stretch of starlight
And mountain lion's stalk the heavens
That peak their mountains
Savage communal wolves run wild
Singing lovingly to the Hunter of the plain
Chorusing in the forest of shadows
Bison and buffaloes
Stampede into the dust of extinction
Only to turn and come back
White tailed bucks and does
Sleep fitfully in shaded meadows and glens
As themajestic bear sleeps
Well concealed in his cavernoues burrow
The downy tipped owl flies the skies
And shrieks the night's scream
As the Hunter of the plains
Slips through the world like a dream
Stalking
Observing
Watching
Patient
Hunter of the plain
Beast of the full moon
Watches and waits
As the man; the hunter with the cold gun
Stalks the night for nature's creatures.

Physical signs

Having hairy palms was considered a sure sign of being a werewolf. Real werewolves often shave their palms leaving them rough so rough palms are also considered to be a sign.

Having a left thumbnail that is left uncut as to resemble a claw.

In human form, a werewolf usually has slanted eyebrows that meet at the bridge of the nose. Other can be recognized by the bristling or very thick and dark hair on their heads, or excessive hairy bodies.

A werewolf has an unusually long third finger on each hand.

Small pointed ears, protruding teeth (elongated canine) or strangely compelling eyes are also visible sign

Behavior

After the shift back to human form, the werewolf is usually exhausted and has to rest for one day or more. Werewolves always have to sleep with their jaws open . Once their jaws are closed, it difficult to unclench them.

When hunting for a werewolf it is important to remember that your biggest clues will come through your suspects personalities. Becoming a werewolf is not transparent, no matter how the victim tries to hide the tainted, subhuman blood appearance.

Therefore, look for symptoms in your human suspects that include increasing violence, increasing aggression, unprovoked rages, insomnia, restlessness, and other bizarre behavior. Unfortunately, over time these symptoms can be brought under control, so do not rely on them exclusively.

Other signs

* Paleness
* Feeble vision
* Dry and misted eyes
* An unnatural dread of all water
* Very dry tongue and always thirsty
* Legs have incurable ulcerations from frequent falls
* The devil's mark

Pure Silver: A werewolf legend purest will always say that a pure silver weapon (dagger, bullet, spear, etc) is the best way to destroy a werewolf. Alchemists and sorcerers throughout the ages have used silver for its magical properties. Some interesting points of pure silver is that is has the highest thermal conductivity - the intensive property of a material which relates its ability to conduct heat. Mirrors are made with silver with a process called silvering. Silver and werewolves also have a common connection - the full moon. The Greeks, Romans, Sumerians, Babylonians, Egyptians, Aztecs, Norse, Native American and just about every other ancient society used silver to build artifacts, coins, talismans, and jewelry ascribed with different powers and significance. (also see Silver)

Mercury: Now here is where it gets a little tricky. The werewolf legends all say that silver will kill a werewolf. The problem with this is that when these legends were written the metal mercury was thought of as a kind of silver. It was called quicksilver. Mercury can form an ally with silver but it is completely unrelated to silver. Mercury is a relatively poor conductor of heat but is a good conductor of electricity and it can also be used in silvering mirrors. Alchemists often thought of mercury as the first matter from which all metals were formed. It turns out that there could be a mistake in the translation that silver will kill werewolves. It is very possible that the actual metal used to defeat the were-beast was actually mercury. Better carry silver and mercury bullets just to be safe!

Destroying the Heart of the Brain: Piecing the heart, much like in the case of a vampire, is said to kill a werewolf. Of course, it isn't enough to just stop the heart from beating because werewolves have great regeneration abilities so the heart must be cut out and destroyed, preferably burned. The same goes for the brain. Any type of skull smashing blow should stop a werewolf just like any other creature. Then, the head must be removed and destroyed to finish the job.

There really isn't much else that can be done to destroy a werewolf short of blowing them up or dropping them into a giant meat grinder. Werewolves are giant brutes with great regenerative powers. Werewolves and vampires are not immortals. They have weaknesses and they die like every other creature on the planet. Silver/Mercury and destroying the heart and brain are just a werewolf's main points of weakness. Be creative, think outside of the box…I'm sure that is you tricked a werewolf into eating some type of explosive that would probably kill it too.

I read an article on a web site that talked about two aflictions that would make someone believe they are a werewolf.

The first is "Pathological Lycanthropy" which is a rare psychiatric disorder in which hysteria or psychosis leads a person to believe that they can turn into a wolf. They are able to feel the physiological effects of transformation (such as hair growth on the face, torso, and arms) and the structural facial malformations. In mild or partial cases, the person never really believes he/she has turned into a wolf, but it is possible in severe cases for them to completely lose touch with reality and to start exhibiting the behaviors of an uncontrollable animal.

The second one is "Congenital Generalized Hypertrichosis" or "Werewolf Syndrome." This extremly rare disorder is inherited genetically. It results in excessive growth of hair on the face and upper body. This disorder is sex-linked and found only on the X-chromosome. Studies were done on a multigenerational Mexican family in which many of the men and some of the women display the phenotype for this extremely unusual disorder, which actually stems from an ancient, long-dormant gene from when humans were similar in appearance to their other, rather hairy, primate cousins.

I need to find the article this is from, and link it, but I thought I'd post this first.

okay i dont know that much about lycan(proper name) but i have a beleif:

lycan are much like us vampire i think. i dont think they actually turn into wolves, just like real vampire can't turn into a bat or fog or the such.

they might have slightly more body hair but not a gross amount

for the most part they look human but with more wolve(aka enhanced) perception and abilities.
