I was working tonight, and I had stuffing for my break...it wasn't as good as my parent's stuffing, so what are you're good stuffing experiences?

Omgew. My first stuffing experience was that horrible crap that comes prepackaged when I was very young. It was without a doubt nasty, so it was a long time till i ate it again. In elementary school on up, they serve stuffing when thanksgiving or christmas is near by. And you wanna talk about nasty? That stuff was nasty with a capital P - U. But recently my grandma came to the States, and she made some for christmas. And it was good. Which totally threw me off. Because i was not used to good stuffing. But..yum.

One good stuffing experience was when I was about 12/13 ... my mother decided to mix up the stuffing she usually makes, and she did a 2 cheese, spinach and break crumb mixture that was to die for. Heh, now I am hungry.

I make a very generic stuffing, but it's quite good. It's very, very moist, perfect for cod or halibut, also works well with chicken. Hell, it's good with anything. o.O;
Base ingredients: 1 tube Ritz crackers 1 stick butter, melted
Just crush the crackers to the desired consistency and add the butter. Then, add whatever you'd like! What I usually add is:
One small onion, finely diced 1 stick celery, cut into 1/8 in. slices Half of a green bell pepper, finely diced A handful of fresh mushrooms, chopped into small pieces OR One small can of button mushrooms, chopped Salt and pepper to taste
So yeah, you can add just about anything else. When I made stuffed fish I put in a thin layer of stuffing, then some cooked shrimp, then another layer of stuffing before folding over the fish. It was delicious.

To quote Alton Brown: "Stuffing is evil" xd
Anyway, I love stuffings, but only bread type stuffings, like the kind you have at thanksgiving. I just love how moist and delicious they are, especially when my aunt makes a baked stuffing where its not actually "stuffed" but instead is done in a baking dish where you get the moist and the GBD (Golden Brown & Delicious for those not in the know) crunchy top...best of both worlds xd

I agree bread stuffing that has the GBD effect is to die for! I love my mom's way of doing it. She puts chicken broth (homemade) and adds diced apples, celery, and onions. mmmm I tried making it her way... it's just not the same. And it's even better the day after cold. XD
