Her alarm went off. Sakura snaked her arm from under her blankets and shut the obnoxious thing off. Not wanting to fall back to sleep, she slowly sat up groaning. Her entire body was in aching. Kakashi had really been going hard her lately. Maybe it was because Naruto and Sasuke were both gone on solo missions and he didn't have anything better to do but to torture his former students by draining her of all the energy she had. Maybe she was simply too weak to take it. Whatever it as, she was starting to regret asking her Sensei to train her. Or course, she wanted to become stonger, and well, spend time with him, but she wouldnt be able to do either if she died from exaustion! Trying to ignore her aching bones, Sakura got out of bed and walked over to her washroom. She took a quick shower and pulled on her training outfit. She then walked down the stairs to have a nice breakfast. She knew she could take her time, since Kakashi as always late.

Kakashi glanced at his watch.
The one time I'm on time, and she's late! I guess I have something to tease her about now...but first, we need to catch up on her taijutsu training!
He shifted uneasily from his right foot to his left. He thought about her and became worried.
What if something happened to the delicate little kunoichi?
For a while, he was paranoid, but he thought about it. Sakura was anything BUT delicate, which he had come to understand after several years. She could handle anyone. Glancing at his watch once more, he laughed.
Am I really always this late? I guess she thinks I'm never going to come early...
But then again, people change.

I should probably go now.
Sakura finised the rest of her tea, got up and started heading for the door. She put on her shoes and was about to walk out the door when a thought came across her mind.
What is he's really late?
So she grabbed a book from her small library.
Gosh, I'm turning in to him.
She walked out the door and slowly started walking towards their daily meeting spot. She wasn't looking forward to the workout he'd put her through once again, but at least she'd get to see him.

Kakashi noticed a figure approaching from far away. Brushing the dirt off his pants, he stood up and waved. "Yo!"
Finally! I was beginning to wonder when she would arrive...
"Sakura! You're late! The punishment for this would be 200 push-ups and 50 laps around the field!" he shouted out towards the emerald-eyed kunoichi. She paused, looked surprised, and kept walking towards him.
It truly broke his heart to see Sakura limp home every night, but he knew it was necessary to be strict when teaching a ninja. Especially such a soft-hearted one. He began to jog towards her, started reading his Icha Icha book, and stopped in front of her.
"Well? Get moving! We don't have much time! You already wasted an hour!" he said, not bothering to peel his eyes off the book.

Sakura's eyes left the ground to look up at him.
That book. I hate that book! If only he payed half the attention he pays that book to me.
She stopped glaring at the book and sighed.
The one time he's on time and I'm late, he must think I'm such a slacker.
It was going to be a lond day.

Kakashi eyed her book, and took it away. "Sorry, Sakura, but you'll have to read this later. We need to improve your taijutsu skills, first." He stuffed the book into his pocket, not bothering to look at what it was. He watched her run towards the starting point, and continue from there.
Wow, he thought. Is she really turning into me? He ignored his book for a while, but pretended to keep reading. While Sakura trudged back and forth doing her laps, he watched her from the corner of his eye.
She is very graceful as a ninja. She could be very useful in missions Tsunade has for me. Perhaps I should bring her along...
Kakashi retreated back into his book. Better not get his hopes up...

Her legs were beginning to ache already and it had only been 8 laps. She sometimes hated herslef for feeling this weak. How was she ever gonna be able to go on missions like Naruto and Sasuke? How was she ever gonna become as stong as them if she had trouble keeping up with the training Kakashi was putting her through. Or course, it had always been easier for them though. There had always been this competition between the two of them, a reason to get stronger. All she could do was watch as their skilled improved. They would always protect her. She especially loved it when Sasuke protected her. But those days were over. They had all grown up since then and gone their separate ways. Everyone but her it seemed. Nothing had changed about her. Her height maybe, and her feelings for Sasuke, but she was still training with the same old sense, towards which her feeling had also changed.
I just have to keep at it. Someday, I'll be the one Tsunade sents on a mission.
She smiled to herself. She could always dream...

"Alright, Sakura! Don't overwork yourself!" he said, motioning for her to stop."Don't push yourself too hard." He knew she was as determined as ever, and that she just had to get into a mission, no matter what.
Maybe in a mission with me...
Upon returning home, Kakashi went to the kitchen and looked at a picture lying on the counter. It was the one of Team 7, Naruto, hyper, Sasuke, miserable, himself, cheery (atleast in the picture he was...), and Sakura. He'd never really paid too much attention to her before Sasuke and Naruto left, and he had felt his ego rise a couple points when she specifically asked for his training, but he was very proud of her. He respected her now, and was determined on making her the best kunoichi she could possibly be.
Well...that was why she wanted his training...wasn't it?
______________________________________________________________
Kakashi just changed into his shorts, and pulled off his mask. He climbed into bed and fell asleep almost immeadiately, thinking abou how rough his next mission would be if Sakura couldn't go with him.
Sakura...
He turned over and rested his hand on the cool part of the bed next to him, and he wondered why he even bothered. He wondered what t would be like to feel someone so close to you, comforting you, even when it was difficult. He knew that no one was that close to him, but he had grown into that loneliness, and it was no longer a foreign thought.
After all, it had always been empty.
