Does anyone ever get a weird reaction from people when you say that you are a pagan? I live in Britain, which is a very non-religious country (most serious religion is practiced by eastern immigrants whilst most native Britons haven't even bothered practicing Christianity for decades). This morning when me a my friend were talking about going to uni (college for all you Americans) I was talking about doing either Sociology or Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Leeds. But then I said:
"I probably wouldn't be good a Religious Studies since I am quite prejudiced against Christianity" (I'm not sure why exactly, but it's mainly due to American Christians trying to convert the rest of the world and the nasty history of Christianity) In response he said in a joking way: "What are you? A Muslim terrorist?" (Which I think is quite offensive to Muslims) And I said: "Nope, I'm a pagan" In response to this he said: "So you dance naked around maypoles or something?"
I didn't really have time to respond to this, partly because I was a bit shocked that was his view of pagans (I think I would have been less shocked if he accused me of practicing witchcraft and worshipping satan, which he wouldn't say anyway seeing how we aren't very religious in Britain. He wasn't try to say this in a cruel way or to try and mock me, but I think that is his genuine view of pagans.
Has anyone ever reacted weird to you? (Or tried to burn you at the stake?)

i have a friend who discovered i was a wicca.. we had to make some kind of essay in HI (habilities of investigation) so...i made mine about wicca..i got a 100 +5 but part of that was that somebody had to read the essay, i said.".well ok!" but then i remebered " in the name of isi!! i'm in a catholic school and i'm in mexico!!! ( the oficial religion here is the catholic so..i suffer alot..belive me.) when i remebered this..it was to late, my friend had alredy read it she jsut stared at me with her eyes and mouth wide open..in that moment i was thinking "mother isis i'm good as dead" but the only thing she said was "COOL! you are a witch" of course she didnt scream at that moment but she did when we arrived my home. i though like.."great mother!"" shes not scared!!! thanks to thee!!" i was expecting any other kind of reaction, i imagined her screaming, or going with the teacher, or something like that but she was reaaly comprehensive!!
((sorry for the mistakes..))

Usually it’s a no-ask no-tell thing around here, as the majority of the population is Mormons around here… or Spanish Catholics… My mother knows, I never really told her, she’s probably known for quite a while, but she never said anything about it until this year… *shrugs* She doesn’t make a deal of it, and we just leave it be.

Well if my friends found out they would be horrified because most of them are Christians because I go to a Christian school. They would most likely start calling me a devil worshippers rolleyes just plain ignorance if you ask me. If my parents found out though I think I would be burned at the stake lol! Or kicked out of the house. Either one ... the second I don't really object to actually I just have no where to go.

I lost three friends of mine when I told them. It was really depressing. And yeah, I've had people, including my ex-girlfriend and ex-boyfriend, try and convert me to Christianity many of times, it's horrible.
I think the worst time is when I was at a friend's house and this guy she was into was there. I was trying to be polite and nice to him since she liked him so much, and aparently he was the son of a preacher. Well he started talking about religion and how not everyone's christian and people should be more open-minded about things, no sooner did he say that I agreed with him and revealed that I was a wiccan/pagan. The damn hypocrit freaked out, he started calling me every name in the book and saying I was a witch and that he wanted to bring back witch burnings and hangings to watch me burn at the stake or hang from the noose. I was so angry and upset, I'm glad he ended up storming out of the apartment. It took every bone in my body not to take action against him, like the good person I am I resisted. Needless to say him and my friend didn't get together, she was really mad at him for what he did. She's very open-minded and very kind to me, she called him up an hour later and gave him a piece of her mind since I couldn't give him a piece of mine!

I didn't neccisarly tell my parents...but when they saw the books I was reading.....they made me go to church with them every Sunday. *rolls eyes and mutters* Pathetic ignorant....nevermind....Anyways this Sunday...I have been blessed against my will....I will not have this!!They keep doing this to me somethin is gonna happen. I will either leave or fight back. I tried to once but my parents dragged me out of the house by my arms..literally. I honestly did not have any rights..when they say you have teenager rights..they lie...you don't have religious rights. If we truly did then they better start enforcing those rights before they find a big mob of teenagers out in their yard protesting!! rofl
