I'm planning on Edward Elric for Anime North 2006, automail and all, but I'm still trying to figure out my budget for the next year. I have a German exchange trip coming up next March, and AN is in May... gonk No more money for Angie.
Other possibilities: Sanzo from Saiyuki, an updated version of Colette from Tales of Symphonia (wings, necklace, chakrams), Rosette from Chrono Crusade, Riza Hawkeye from FMA, Yggdrasill or Mithos from Tales of Symphonia, Krad from DN Angel.
I was Colette from Tales of Symphonia at AN this year, and Ed from Cowboy Bebop at Halloween last year (never again. o_o)

Just talked to some old martial arts and cosplay buddies^_^ We're gonna do the cast from DBZ as a group for Halloween! It'll be funny since our Krillin is a 4'8" asian guy who shaves his head (not for cosplay...he just likes the look).
I'm also talking with my friends who I was planning on doing a Saiyuki road trip and we may do it this next summer, but that's a long shot given money and other things that could come up.

Mmm....I'm doing a Kagura Sohma cosplay this year. The mess-ups? The kitty Kyo backpack she wears. I had already made it when all of a sudden, uh-oh, the dog got a hold of it....and it was made from felt....which tears....easily....That was stupid sweatdrop So now I have to start all over.

I think I am starting to get into the habit of keeping my new costumes secret.
Biggest problem with any/all of these costumes: the TIME! o.O) I have little time as of late.

Kait is going to be Schezka from FMA, and her brother is going to be Maes Hughes. If he can grow a beard in nine months. >>;; My problem with that is I haven't a clue what to do with my hair, and any shoes other than sneakers and boots are running away from me. Not to mention I'm going to kill myself making the jacket.
I'm also going to be the Skull Kid from Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask as well. My brother was going to be the Mask Salesman from that game, but he didn't like the idea. I've got nine months to make the costumes, but the Skull Kid is going to kill me. I have no idea how to make the hat all spiky and torn looking, My paper mache skills are crap, and I can't think of a stiff fabric I can make to look similar to straw, only thicker and less itchy. Oh, and I have to find wooden rings to make the belt around the waist and the hat just above the brim. I also am debating using coarse cloth for the rest of it. And Painting Majora's MAsk is going to be murder. Hmm....I have yet to find a face paint that doesn't give me a rash either. So, in short.
I'm screwed in making my very first costume because I'm a n00b with no good ideas and parents who hate the thought of cosplay. OR anime. Or gaming.

This year, since I have a full-time job, I'm limiting myself to three ground-up costumes and one refurbishment, at most....for the whole year.
Firstly, I'd like to refurbish my Miko fuku...Add some embellishments, some sleeve pulls, and the like...
For the ground-ups....
The only convention I plan to attend this year is the one that's local for me, PersaCon in Madsion, AL. Since the theme is Tradition Japanese Culture, I'm planning on making myself a full kimono, underpeices and all. It'll be fun, since now I have a sewing machine with an auto-buttonhole setting!
The second WOULD be a refurbisment of my Red Pinstripe EGL, but since I've lost so much weight, it would be more work to cut it (and all the petticoat peices stressed ) down to my new size.....so I'm just going to re-do the whole thing...This time, the petticoat will be UBER-poofy, and I'm going to make some lacy black bloomers to go with it, and maybe do the top as a strapless corset with some only slightly attached pouf sleeves. ^_^
The third has been on my To Do list for quite a while, and I always keep the slot open, no matter what else I'm doing....Because I'm searching hopelessly for the perfect fabric. It goes along with my No-Wig set, as I call it, because I'll just need a haircut to perfectly portray Virginia Maxwell from Wild Arms 3. The pattern peices have all been constructed and transfered to permanant peices, and I've gone through the logistics of every single peice of the costume. I've got a Props Master who will do the guns (AND a Temari fan) for FREE if I let him do a live-cast of me! *dances* The hardest thing will be the boots....I need to go Thrift-shopping to find a good pair of hiking boots I can sacrifce (because I'm not paying $40+ for a pair of shoes I'm just going to mangle) or some perfectly colored (and easily workable) leather or suede.

Wow. @___@
My plans changed, although all of this is for 2006. I'm still going to be Skull Kid, but I'm also being Gojyou from Saiyuki, Martel from FMA, and Kimimaro from Naruto as part of the largest Naruto group in the Southern US. I've not gotten started yet, but I will soon. I also have to make my brother's Ibiki costume in time for MTAC in April, so I've got a little complication.
