As a female magic player, I know how rare I am in the general populations of Magic The Gathering players.
Do you have any female players in your area?
Are they good?
Do they play just cos their boyfriend plays or because the pictures are pretty?
Or do they kick arse and everyone still underestimates them?
Or, are they so rare they are only talked about around campfires that are fueled by Yu-Gi-Oh cards?

There was one girl in my little group of friends that played... she wasnt the best, but she didnt suck. My girlfriend also used to play, but she quit before I met her... oh well.

I find in my town, I am not really treated differently. This is mainly because I can actually be a threat gamewise and they can't just take me with a grain of salt.
In addition, I taught quite a few of the players that win every week now.
I always try to sit down with the kids after the game and ask them why they played a certain way and give them advice that may help them in the future.

I have a friend whose a girl and plays Magic, but from where I am, not many boys think girls play card games, or "boy"-themed games.

I'm one of 3 in my area and I taught the other 2 with my boyfriends help xd lol, but I'm a lazy player usually & win 50/50 of the time, when I actually want to play to win...I win 9/10 times...heh... sweatdrop So, in some ways that helps, because they're used to me here being my normal not paying complete attention. So...like last time I played a big group game and kept quiet...I killed all 8 of them in one turn. HA! The little underestimating bitches....*cackles*

I played a draft on the weekend, and this guy started explaining how the whole thing works...so I told him I had won drafts before (cos I have!) and he shut right up. Yay!
