This area is set aside to train the fighter's of the Dewclaw Clan. It is a flat area of stone and dirt ground and several practice weapons are near by. There is a wrestling ring for strength, a cage for trianing with small prey animals, and a smaller area for kittens in training. Naketa, the Head Huntress, is the presiding elder over this area.

Naketa looked around the training ground, quite satisfied with it. Hefting up a practice weapon, memories of her own training flooded her mind and she set it back down gently. This place was neat and tidy and ready for young kits to train and begin their future lives in the clan. It was humming with promises of hunters yet to come. Maybe even a head huntress yet to come, when the Earth reclamined Naketa... The huntress shook her head. If you lived for the future you would be done in by the present. What she should be doing was thinking about finding kits in want of traning or organizing hunts. She sat down, thinking about what she could do that would be most useful.

Katarina had finished her own training for the day and had decided to walk the different training areas to see what the kittens held. Perhaps she'd find a promising young ninja to be. Instead she found the Head Huntress sitting in the fighting area. She didn't consider her a rival, merely one with different training. And it took many parts to make the world go around. As silent as always, the midnight black cougar walked into the ring and nodded to her fellow sister.
"Hello Naketa. How are you this afternoon.

Naketa looked up, surprised to see the head ninja but face remaining impassive. Like Katarina, she did not consider ninjas rivals. They were merely a different type of huntress. However, she was slightly suspicious of their secret ways, but only as suspicious as she would be to anyone who snuck about at night and practiced killing techniques. It was hard for her to believe that that same small cougar who had been found in a cave long ago, bathed in moonlight, had become the head ninja. Whenever she saw Katarina part of her felt old. "Fine, fine." said Naketa, getting up and stretching. "And you?"

"I am well."
She walked over and sat down near the other elder.
"Merely looking over some of the kittens for potientals. I suspect you are doing the same?"
Fire orange eyes looked at Naketa from the blackness of her face. She showed no emotion, no longer the happy carefree kitten she had been so long ago. Her body was wall muscle, her mind and well tuned weapon as well. The only thing more visable than her eyes was the white symbol of the moon ablazen on her chest.

Purple eyes glowed back at Katarina's firey ones, sharp and unrevealing. However, they looked tireder than Katarina's, the fire of youth having abandoned them moons ago. Naketa looked at Katarina and couldn't see the kitten that she had observed growing up. She could see someone that was serious about her work and determined. "I am glad you're well." Naketa said gravely. "You have suspected correctly. Those I've seen look quite promising."

"Good. I am sensing we will need strength. War is brewing in the mountains, and lately, something has been going on. The winds smell different. Like something is about to happen. I only hope I can find a few to join my sect. It is hard, I have to be very watchful for the right combination of things."
Katarina looked towards the mountainous region inhabited by the Quicktalon. She still remembered cutting down that elder and watching the teen retrieve her body. She had been patrolling that area often and the wind seemed full of tension. Even the animals seemed more skitish as the days wore on.

Naketa nodded. "I wish it was not so. What a world it would be if our abilities were needed only for the hunt of prey." She sighed, her eyes resting on the mountains as well. She knew of the unrest stirring, but the fact it bothered Katarina as well made it all the more obvious. "If worst comes to worst, we can be ready for war." She got up. "So Katarina, what has brought you to the training grounds?" she asked it lightly, in a tone that suggested the Head ninja need not reply.

"Same as you. I seek kittens who show promise in becoming a Ninja. Our home is ready to recieve new ones once they grow. I wonder how many could even survive the training."
She just flicked her tail a bit, some shadows tried to rest upon her but she was too far in the sun for them to conceal her.

Naketa's ear flicked as she took in the information. She didn't envy those who took on the path of a ninja. It sounded quite brutal, perhaps even more brutal than the Head Huntress herself could bear. However, no one could fathom these thoughts fluttering behind her cold violet eyes and voicing them would be a sign of weakness. Her hair shone bright as flame in the sunlight as she looked at Katarina and asked "Would you like a training round with me? We might as well make ourselves useful while we chatter on. Nothing so complex as to be confusing, just a quick, friendly spar."

"Absolutely. It has been awhile since I have sparred with another."
The ninja walked to her side of the sparing ring. She took the sheathed blade off of her back, the Great Ninja Katana, and set it on the ground hear by. Her movements were fluid as she made some sort of sign and took her starting position. Her black body made it difficult to see her movements and her spots through you off as to where she was going.

Naketa, too, walked to her starting position, suddenly hard to focus upon as she melted into the background, looking quite unimportant and harmless. Her eyes were at slants and were barely visible slits of purple, the only thing showing her focus. Other than that she looked completely at ease, something one should not be fooled by. She motioned to Katarina with the tiniest flick of her tail, indicating she was ready to begin and that Katarina, as the guest to this arena, would amke the first move.

Katarina nodded and started with some simple attacks. Mostly swift jabs, punches, and kicks. Her moves were always as fluid as water but still deadly silent. She was testing Naketa, looking for weaknesses in her movements and body. She could read more than she let on as she watched the fighting spirit of the Head Huntress glow.

As the match started, Naketa blocked as many of Katarina's attacks as she was able to, observing how the other cougar fought. Presently she realized that Katarina was doing the same thing to her, fighting simply to see what Naketa would do. Well, she wouldn't learn anything of her opponent this way. Naketa looked for an opening and went to offense, attempting to grab Katarina's fist the next time she aimed a punch.

Oh of course, grab her fist. Thats when Katarina used her well known speed to grab Naketa's elbow, pull, and flip her over her shoulder, hopefully landing Naketa on her back.
