This complex training area is held in the tallest part of the canopy. It contains lots of rope ladders, walkways, etc. Kittens must learn to trust themselves in the high branches of their homes and teens must get stronger to leap and slink their way along branches. Many animals do live here, so training against them is always good practice. Currently the Head Huntress is the presiding elder of this area.

Mau slunk along the edge of the complex maze that made up the training area. She climbed upwards as far as she could and settled herself on a narrow pole stretched across two branches, swinging her legs thoughtfully and watching the other cougars train. She was fairly agile, and graceful enough, and her balance and dexterity were actually better than average for a cougar her age, but she felt a pang of longing as she watched some other kittens learning basic ambush method. Mau would never be able to hunt. She simply stood out too much.

Of course, she reflected, that didn't make her any less of a fighter, but the peace-loving Faufur tribe rarely had use for such a huntress. Maybe she could hunt creatures that attacked cougars, using herself as bait..but no. That wouldn't work either. There was nothing in the jungle that would dare to attack a fully grown huntress except for a boar, and even they would prefer to run than fight. No, as much as Mau loved to play stalking, she would never experiance the real thing here. If she wanted to catch anything besides bugs and fish (which were colorblind anyway), she would have to rely on something other than the ambush technique. She needed a hunting technique that would let her be seen. Maybe she could chase her prey, if she was fast enough.
To test herself, she stood up on the pole and dropped to a crouch, with her fingers gingerly touching the smooth bamboo surface. Ready, Set..Go! At the click of the mental stopwatch, she raced forwards through the complex maze of training equipment. The kitten hopped over a pair of triplines and nimbly sidestepped a hole in the pathway. Coming to the end of the platform, she jumped towards the nearest continuation, a thick pole stuck upright in the ground.
Unfortunately, Mau's body was not yet quite that large, nor was it quite strong enough to propel itself all the way to the top of the pole and she slammed into it, banging her chest and knocking the breath out of her body, but gripping it tightly with her claws on instinct. Her eyes flew open again when she felt her grip slipping. Her claws left grooves in the pole and before she could fall any further and risk breaking them, she pushed herself off it and justmanaged to catch hold of a nearby rope.
She hung there, suspended by one hand for a few minutes as she caught her breath. Well, so much for that.
