This training site is set down on the ground so many fires can be built without the threat of causing a large fire in the trees. It is here that kittens are taught how to make some of the most delicious foods in the cougar world using all the spices and plants that grow in their home. Teens are allowed to create new dishes with the help of guiding spirits. Meeka is the elder presiding over this area.

Rayna walked to Meeka in slight confusion. "Do I get to train here too? Or even help?" Rayne jump happily. "Please! I love to help/train." She smiled with a teethy grin. "I sent Tanya to shameness training, she wants to be a healer." Her pelt bristled with the wind.

"Meeka? What really is going to go on here? Like how does teh training work." Her turquois eyes gandered upon the area doing a quick scan. "Hmmmmm." She started to hum but stoped herself quickly.

"One question at a time."

The elder chuckled at the Teen's enthusiasm.

"This is a place were young kits will learn the basics of cooking and food preperation. This is also where you, as a teen, will learn the finer arts of cooking and preparing food for storage. We never know when there will be a lean time or an abundance of newborns so we must have extra food on hand. You will get to use our more tastier spices. It is very important that you learn now to flavor food just right, or you can make others sick and the food inedible."

Mau slunk into the cooking area, doing her best to ignore the whispers from the other cougars. She tugged on Meeka's tail timidly, but in her red eyes was a feirce determination. So what if she looked different?! If her brightness did not lay in her fur, surely it lay somewhere, and the most likely place she could think of was in the flavor of her food, not that she could cook, but she was here to learn. Better to do that than hide in the treetops all day and feel sorry for herself.

"Meeka, m'am. Mother sent me to help out. Is there anything I can do?"

Rayna looked at the young kitten, though strange in color. She knelt down and smiled at the young cub. "Meeka I can lead her too the other kits and then we could start, or even..." The spotted teen looked around. "Since i'm the only teen I could work with her. There are a couple things I could teach her."

Rayna winked at the young cub. "Please Meeka, you can teach the cubs and I can practice my obtained skills with...." Her turquois eyes bent to the young cub again. "I'm sorry dear what was your name?" She asked standing up again and brustling her silkly pelt.

"It'd be a great learning expirience." Rayna smiled. "Hey and if you want a friend too my sister just got to the clan I could have you meet her too. She's very nice. Her name is Tanya, oh and I'm Rayna.

"Ever so eager I see. Well, I don't see why not. You can teach her the very basics. Nothing that really involves the fires. Show her the roots and spices we use. Also how to prepare meat."

She pointed to a small area of preperation.

Rayna smiled and jumped up excitedly. "Yay, come on hun, let's start!" She held out her hand and smiled. Pointing over to the area she led the kit to it.

"We'll start with the spices those are really important." Rayna looked at the young cub who seemed to be very silent. "Hey are you ok.....Hehe I still haven't gotten your name." The spotted teen tilted her head to the side. The air around them, fresh and tasteful.

She smiled. "It's ok, I'm a nice person. I hope we can get along, it'll be fun having my own student." Rayna nodded with a friendlygrin on her face. Her pelt gleamed as a bit of sunlight struck it through the tree branches.

The sun lit the prep area just enough to illuminate everything.

Mau looked up, startled by the sudden flurry of dialogue. Of course she knew their names. She heard them every day as she hid herself in the treetops. And of course everyone knew who she was. "That dull kitten" they called her, and gossip sure spread quickly enough through the sociable Faufur tribe. But of course, not everyone would know her actual name.

"Mau." she meowed softly. "My name is Mau." She smiled although she caught the appraising glance over her glossless coat. Okke, she told herself. It was time to start proving her worth to the tribe lay beyond the color of her Quicktalon's eyes. "I know some of these already." she stated as confidently as she could. "Those tiny yellow ones are really really spicy, and that one is Ginger, it's adds both heat and sweetness. And that one is Mint. It's a cold spice. And I think that's lemongrass, and that's thyme, which are savory and sharp."

Rayna looked at the plainly colored cub. "You are very smart! Those were all correct. And I see there is some sociality behind those silent yet pretty red eyes." A giggle passed through rayna's mouth.

Showing Mau proper storeing and collecting techniques she became more and more impressed with the kitten. She looked over at Meeka andwaved her over. "I think we should move on. Mau is very very smart. What are we todo next Meeka. By the way, thank you again for letting me train with mau. It's great having a very quick learner." She smiled widely.

"It's because my Mom taught me, Miss Rayna. She's a homemaker too and I help her sometimes." Mau offered by way of explanation. Honestly, it was true. She didn't consider herself a very bright kitten at all. She just had a lot of time to learn because she never went out and played with the other kittens. That Keiara was always playing pranks on her. Not that the other kitten meant any harm. She played tricks on everyone. Mau, with her mousy coat, just happened to be a particularly visible target within the Faufur tribe. Idly, she wondered about her colors. If they said she had Quicktalon's red eyes, then did Quicktalons maybe have dull brown coats like hers? What were they like? Were they really as feroucious as the elders said? Absent mindedly, she asked, "Miss Rayna, what kind of foods do Quicktalons cook?"

Rayna blinked. Her hair swiftly covering her face. "Then what haven't you covered?" She blinked again with glinted teal eyes. "We can start from that level." Looking at Meeka smiling widely. "If that is ok with you ma'am."

The spotted cougar stood tall her body printed with more spots than normal due to the sun seeping through the clouds. A small sun spot shone on her totem. Rayna felt a strange warmth within her.

Thinking a bit the cougar noticed that sometime had passed since she had became a teen. THoughts bellowed in her mind then quickly Rayna turned to Mekka and tilded her head tothe side. "Am I to become and adult soon?" Her fur ruffled and shifted as a warm breeze passed by.

The kitten nodded slowly. "I don't know how to cut meat or cook lotsa different things yet, and I don't know how to bake, but I've seen Mother do it. I'm sure I could learn!" she added hopefully. Mau wanted desparately to impress them with something. Her eyes widened as the sun lit up Rayna's totem. She knew that all cougars had totems and that kittens passed onwards from teenhood in a ceremony, but what happened after that? What mysterious processes did it take to become a fully recognized adult member of the Faufur tribe? Was it the same for all cougars? What would happen if a cougar didn't have a tribe, (and she shuddered at the thought) like Maoweyrmir? These questions, she kept to herself, but offered her teacher a soft empathetic smile. It must be an exciting time.

A giggle passed through Rayna's human-like muzzle. "Baking was the first thing I learned. So I'll teach you that. I think it's the easiest." She looked at Meeka again for approval.

"Remeber Meeka, you were the one who tought me how to bake?" Smiling, the cougar looked around "Where are the bowls, spoons, and ingridients?" Rayna asked softly, her ears perking slightly.

"Okay" she mewed, eagar to make herself useful. Mau trailed behind Rayna, checking on random shelves and inside random baskets as they searched for cooking utensils. She lifted the lid of a large clay bowl to check if it was empty and found a delicious smelling reddish-brown powder. Unsure of what it was, she tasted it and made a face in disgust. "Ick! This is bitter!"

"Well cocoa powder usually is." the Head Homaker replied without looking up from her work. "It smells nice, but smells can be deciving. Imagine if you had used that ingrediant without adding fruit juice or cane sap to sweeten it." She added a few more finely chopped ingrediants and almost as an afterthought "and the bowls are in that big basket over there, honey." Meeka flicked her tail towards a large woven container next to a hollow tree stump.
