Fanatical Egg

The wind gently carried along the grass, carressing the teenager's cheek as she watched over her charge. THe memories flickered in the back of her mind: of Altan's form running up to her, Sapheria explaining what was happening and asking her to watch the egg, her apprentice asking her why her hair was colored weirdly.... Okay, that memory was rather weird, but still.

Now Reyhyeh sat on the ground, not more than a length away from the beloved Fire/Wind egg nestled in the mound of nest-sand that was now her charge. Her chin sat in her palm, crimson eyes tracing the patterns across the shell. Her other hand idly plucked at the odd patch of grass located near the sand-mound nest.

Well, wasn't this weird? The nineteen year old sat on the grass, gray eyes observing the giant egg. They had to make sure it came to no harm. Sampson crossed his legs, reaching up with a pale hand to strike some of his shoulder-length white hair away from his face. He glanced over at Reyhyeh, sighing slightly. What was it supposed to do? Hatch? Well, it wasn't happening soon. The small snowflake mark in the center of his forehead began to grow, his eyes drifting shut. The grass around him began to frost over as his mind wandered. A small line of the frost zig-zagged away, circling around the girl before darting off into the woods. Boredom in its finest form.

Her crimson eyes darted to the frost on the grass that had come close to her hand. She raised an eyebrow at Sampson, even though his eyes were closed. Removing her hand from her chin, she idly traced the patterns of the tattoo across her arm. Before she could stop herself, the questions slipped from her mouth.

"What exactly are they expecting us to do? I mean-- what if they're gone for months at a time? Are we to sit and watch for the whole blasted time?"

Reyhyeh gave a sigh, looking at Sampson one more time before her gaze flickered to the top of the irregularly-large egg. Had it...? Nah. Stupid imagination.

The frost around Sampson melted as his eyes opened, looking at the girl. He shrugged, moving to an area of grass on the opposite side from her. "I don't know. If we're here for more than a month, I guess we'll go get supplies from the nearest town and camp out here until they get back." It sounded like a good plan, and good plans were good.

He leaned back, glaring at the egg. Due to habit, his mind slipped back into meditation, only it was encountering someone else. Someone else was there? Behind the egg? His eyes opened and he stood, the mark glowing brightly as he walked to the other side. No one was there. He reached back and scratched his neck at the base of his head, turning to look at it. Of course there was something alive in there... He shrugged and went back to his last seating place, plopping onto the ground and watching the egg intently.

Reyhyeh nodded at his anwser. It was logical, but... There were a lot of 'What if's floating in her head, only to be quickly swept away to a peaceful calm state of mind. The feeling made her eyes shoot open and look around, then watched as Sampson got up to inspect the other side of the egg.

She leaned slightly, and sent him a curious look. The 16-year-old watched the Ice Elementalist for a moment, before looking at the egg again. She still swore it had twitched! But why would it twitch? Nothing had touched it....

He wanted out so he could meet the man who played with winter. He had felt both the minds out there twitch with discomfort, but he still wanted out. He had rocked the egg just a little bit, but that shell was too hard for himself. The little wyrmling called upon his other half, that part of him which was already bond. Alyra... I want out of the egg.

Sampson placed his hands on the ground, frost springing up around them as his mind opened, searching for the conciousness that had come into contact with his before. If it was Delilah or Rebecca or Lionel he would kill them, but it wasn't. He growled. "Show yourself," he beckoned with a whisper, finding that mind again and tugging on it gently.

He-hey-hey! That tickled!

The twin twitched slightly, finding that there was too little room now. Plus... she wanted to know who the two outside of the thick shell were. Her conscienceness reached out and touched her kin's. I know, Alath. So do I. The Fire/Wind wyrm attempted to push at the shell, but nothing happened in response to the effort.

The fire elementalist somehow ended up on her feet, watching both Sampson and the egg at the same time. Part of her mind told her this was stupid-- it was Thyra and Altan's egg for the sake of it all! But part of her just made her raise her defenses, be wary of the egg. Plus, Sampson's comment hadn't helped much. She edged slightly towards her companion, sparks beginning to flicker from her fingertips.

It still tickled! Alath pushed against the side of the egg, his head pushing against it. Help is required. He pushed against the other mind, giving a small giggle as something snapped. Help comes. Move, Alyra! He shot away from the egg's shell towards the safety of the center.

Sampson snarled softly, standing again and walking to the egg. A sold breeze kicked up, causing the sand in front of him to blow away as his hand touched the shell. Without warning, the surface began to change from its bronze color to almost clear. Soon as there was enough room, he punched it as hard as he could, a shattering sound greeting his ears as egg fluid spilled onto him. Ew.

Help comes? She asked, but darked to the center as much as she could. Alath, your too fat. She teased, then quieted down as her mind worked on what her brother /had/ done.

Watching him intently, Reyhyeh watched as Sampson shattered a hole into the egg. Just as she was about to ask what in the world he was /doing/... she noticed the fluid spilled on him and couldn't restrain her soft laughter.

Help comes! Alath grinned as the egg-side shattered, spending this one time as a water wyrm would and riding the egg-fluids out, missing the young man's head by a few inches. He landed and gazed upon the world, blue eyes bright and big with wonder. Wow.

Sampson hit the ground from the force that the stuff had hit him, bouncing almost immediately back up. He gave a half glare at Reyh, the stuff freezing over him and making a near solid block of ice. He shattered it, leaving his mostly dry as the blocks of ice melted on the sand. He turned to look at the conciousness, finding a little wind wyrm on the ground. "What the hell?"

Alyra giggled at her brother's antics and tried to mimioc him, but had fallen and landed into a fluid-covered brown lump. Ow, that hurt... Alyra's pain was put away, however, as her own bright blue eyes blinked and looked at the upside-down world all around her.

Smiling slightly at his glare, Reyhyeh turned her attention to the Wind wyrm that had come from the egg. She stayed as silent as she could, though giggled softly when she heard Sampson's 'What the hell?'. "So... that is Thyra and Altan's baby? Cute." She smiled at the Wyrm, stepping a bit closer. "Hi."

Alyra? Alath ignored Reyh to slither towards his twin, aware there was a dull throb where she had fallen. It was a weird link they shared, wasn't it? Alyra, are you okay?

"Reyh... am I seeing double or are there two of them?" He blinked, looking at the identical wyrms. He looked at the large egg and the hatchlings, head spinning. Could there be two in one egg? It made no sense...

The fluid-covered lump rearranged herself, to ease her brother's worry. No worries, Alath. I'll be okay. Just a bump. Her eyes flickered to her twin, then to the egg fluid still running down her body. Ew... This stuff is too icky.

"I... I think there's two... Unless I'm seeing double also..." Blinking, Reyhyeh's eyes switched from one to the other. There were two in the one egg? Was that even /possible/?? Well, apparently it was!

We'll get cleaned up. Alath said happily, turning to look at the two staring humans, his eyes growing wide. What're they? He squeaked happily with the assurance that his sister was fine, slithering closer to the two others.

Sampson looked between the two before giving a shrug. "I don't know. I bet Thyra and Altan will want to know they're officially parents." But how were you to go about that? If he wanted to touch at Thyra or Altan's mind, it would take him a few days if they had travelled far, and there were a mulititude of things that could and would distract him before he got very far at all.

Yay. She also turned to the two surprised humans, blinking up at them. They look weird. She commented childishly, followed by a soft giggle.

Reyhyeh watched the two so closely, she almost missed Sampson's comment. "I bet. But how are we supossed going to catch up to either of them?"
