I have this idea that's sort of a crossbreed of role-playing an a fan fiction story. Did you ever create a story in school or in boy/girlscouts where you each took turns saying a single line or word for a story? I'd like to do something like that here, but with a few differences.
Here's how things will work:
1)We will each take turns writing at least one paragraph of the story.
2)You may bring in any of your favorite anime/manga characters and you may bring yourself into the story!
3)Because of the fact that we are going to have a wide array of different anime characters, the setting itself will have to be something strange to them all. So, I place the setting as being here, in modern day society.
This does, however, prove to be a problem though. Because I'm sure that all of the guild members live in various places far away from eachother. So, to simplify things I've decided to create an "imaginary" anime convention - 'Otaku-R-us' or 'ORU' for short. ORU takes place in Chicago, Illanois (because ... I say so... nyah!) (No, because it's kinda in the middle of the US and I think we're all pretty much in the US. Anyway, let's just pretend that we all could make it to such an event and have a good amount of money to spend there!)
Since this story will be a collaboration from us all, I won't go into any details (here) about what events/shows/what-have-you are at ORU, as we can just fill in the blanks as we create the story.
The only things that I will say is the beginning of the story (which will follow soon), and a general description of the hotel that the convention is held at. ORU-con will be a week-long event (because I've always wanted to spend a WHOLE week at a convention!) at a really nice hotel. Don't worry about money, for the sake of the story, you have it. The hotel room can have one or two beds, a balcony, a hot tub, a mini bar, a VCR or any of the other amenities that you would like. The main part of the hotel (aside from the rooms) consists of many large rooms that can be used for vendors, gaming, dancing, watching anime, etc.. The hotel also has a nice restaurant inside as well.
4)If you want to join the story, no problem! Just jump right in!
5)I think that we should allow the people who "claimed" any particular PB to actually bring them into the story however they want, and to include any notes about how they would like their characters to be handled in the general storyline written in italics in those funky brackets. For example:
{Naruto will be really clueless for this entire story. Since we're in a different world and he has no idea how it happened, he might vary from feeling confused to really being fed up at not knowing what's going on. I only want him to be romantically linked to Sasuke or myself} (No! I don't play Naruto! I was only using this as an example of something that
O P E R A T O R might say.)
Indeed, if you say anything out of character, please put it in the brackets.
If you choose to bring in someone that you've "claimed" I do ask, for the sake of the story, that you don't place any orders to not use your character at all. In this story, we're going to have to allow - at least some - control of our favorite characters to the other authors.
6)If a particular character isn't "claimed" then whomever brings them into the story line gets to dictate how they wish them to be used (just like in #5).
7)When you bring someone in to our story, it's up to you to decide just at what point in their own storyline that they are brought in. This is especially important with characters who change or die after a certain amount of time has elapsed.
For instance, if ROBOT decided to bring Kimimaro in, she would have to decide whether or not she wanted it to be while he was a child, just after he recieved the Earth Seal, or in the middle of his battle with Naruto/Lee/Gaara (which ultimately would save his life...)
cool The last rule that I'm going to make is that none of the anime characters can leave the hotel. Other people (such as con-goers) may, but the characters that we bring in from anime/manga simply aren't able to. (some kind of magic? I don't know! Let's figure out why it's happening in the story!)
Hopefully, this will work out for us! I know that we all have different writing styles and that's cool! I'm fairly certain that we can all blend our ideas in together. Now, I shall get set on writing the first part of the story, and then we can all partay! biggrin
