Tahupotiki sat on a large rock. It was low, and close to the ground, so he could bend over and watch the bugs that crawled over the grounds. Dusk was the perfect time to catch bugs, even though it did get very dark. The night brought out the glowy bugs, and the paw-crawlers(inchworms).
He sat there, waiting for the bugs to awake and come out. It was a cool night, and perfect for bug hunting. His ears twitched with anticipation, but instead caught the sound of another.
"Hehe?" Poki said, that was how he called his little brother, Kianjahe. It was the only way he could, since he didn't like to speek.

Disappointed that he had been heard despite his best efforts, Kianjahe relaxed his crouch and bound up to Poki's rock. On his way up, the pup lost his footing, scraping his chin. He continued to scrabble up with tiny puppy claws until panting, he sat next to his elder brother. He looked up at Tahupotiki with a huge grin on his face, ignorant of small smudges of blood on chin and neck, sprinkled with dust and grit.

Giggling because of the cuteness of his little brother, Poki lovingly licked the blood from his brother's chin and cleaned off some of the dirt. "Hehe.. Purrrr." He said as his ears turned back and forth, hearing bugs fly about.
Suddenly, Poki turned from his brother, and with quick jaws, snapped down on a light bug that had been buzzing by his ear. He chewed it happily and turned back to his brother.

Kianjahe yipped happily at his brother's attentions and licked his nose in thank you. He stared in surprise at Poki as he snapped at the bug and ate it. Wagging his tail, he looked around him and tried mimicked the elder dog, with little success. But it was more fun to try than anything. After a few short moments, he was barking and spinning more than aiming for airborne insects.

Hehe was trying to copy him? Poki could teach him how to eat bugs. As little Hehe started to bite at every bug that passed, Poki tried to get his attention. That was no way to catch a good bug!
Poki nipped at his neck, that spot where it was thick skin, and mothers and fathers often picked them up from there, catching his attention that way. He barked as if to tell him to straiten up. "Mmmrowr!" He said.
Staitening himself, Poki nodded to a glow bug that floated lazily in the air near Poki's muzzle. He folowed it with his nose, patiently, then snapped when it came close, chewing it.

Kianjahe blinked free of his frenzy, curiousity winning over his puppyish desire to play and intently watching Poki's instruction. He saw Poki follow a glow bug with his nose slowly then snap it up with a sudden swipe. He ate this one too. The pup's stomach growled, sounding almost like a whine, a plea for sustinence that only the pup could sate.
With a determined woof, he looked around and flattened his ears as he zeroed in on a particularly fat-looking bug. It was no bigger than the rest, but to him, there could be no better feast. He snapped at it, caught a wing, sending the bug careening off to the side. With a high-pitched puppy growl, he snapped again and finally caught it in his mouth.
Gingerly this time, he gnawed at the strange texture, both crunchy and squishy. With a big gulp, he swallowed the bug and turned glowing, pride-filled eyes on Poki. His tail wagged wildly as he made a run for his elder brother and tackled his leg, pawing at him happily.

Poki had forgotten how hyper he had been as a pup. But this little one was like him, just like him. He didn't even speak when Poki was instructing. He was like.... a mini him, but with different colors. It amazed him.
Then, he was pounced. Falling from his rock, Poki played gently with his little brother, proud of his accomlishment of eating his first bug. Poki barked happily and rolled on the ground, beconing Hehe over to see some other good bugs to eat.

Kianjahe followed his brother over the edge of the rock, landing on soft fur. Whether having a puppy land on him (with a whoosh of air and a distinct "oof!"), the pup could not know, especially with Poki returning his playful attacks.
As quickly as the tussle began, it seemed, it was over and Poki was leading Kianjahe off somewhere else. What were they going to do next? The pup was close at his heels, tail waving about, floppy ears erect, nose wiggling as he sniffed the air and ground.

Poki grabbed a bug in his mouth and showed it to his little brother. This was one of the best tasting bugs. Blue, squishy, with a crunchy core. He set it down infront of Haha and nudged it to him.
Then he grabbed up another. This bug wasn't that tasty. It was orange-ish, crunchy on the outside, and way bitter on the inside. He also set it down. nosing the blue bug he nodded and made a smile. Then he nudged the Orange bug and stuck out his tounge in discoust.

Kianjahe watched Poki closely, almost too curious to sit still. His ears were pricked forward as he watched his elder brother show an obvious favor for one kind of bug, and dispising the other. But... why? He tapped it with his nose and sniffed it gently, then tapped it with his tongue. He did the same with the blue bug before lapping it into his mouth and gnawing it. Very tasty! He yipped, wagging his tail.

Well well well! Hehe was a very good learner. Of course, Poki thought he was a very good teacher. He smiled down at his younger brother and yipped back. No talking was needed between them it seemed, and Poki liked that. He felt a deeper bond with Hehe then most of his brothers, though each of them had something with Poki that was uniqe.
Poki was very please, non-the-less, with his brother's willingness to learn about bugs. Bugs are a very important food sorce, yes they are. There were so many bugs to show Hehe, and only one night. For now, Poki had shown him some good bugs, and some... icky bugs. No doubt Hehe would try and learn a few on his own.
Poki lead Hehe back to the rock he had been sitting on earlier. The Glow bugs were out on cooler nights, and this night they were so abundent, Poki walked by veils of them. He sat down on the rock and demenstrated calm consintration, watching the bugs till they strayed close enough to bite at.
