so, Im now agnostic, but I like believing in something. I've looked into Buddhism, sounded really cool, but it seemed too strong in its own beliefs and stories. I was a Catholic, but it was just plain creepy...cultish even... Im really not liking the idea of an afterlife in all forms of chrisitanity, including the idea of heaven. it seems too...gluttonous to think you deserve this beautiful thing when all you've done in your life is try to stay on schedule about going to church every sunday, while trying not to lie to those you love. my idea of a perfect afterlife would be that of the not-so-quite-late Bowman, roam the stars, galaxies, nebulae, and universe and do whatever you want. but im not scared of death. im scared of suffering when i die, but not of death itsself. im so confused by my own beliefs im not sure who else's to follow...id like to have my own religion without creeping others around me out...

I personally do not beleve in religion, or a god. I think the after life is whatever you make it up to be, if you wish to goto a heaven then you will, or if you beleve in reincarnation like I do then that will happan.
I pretty much make it up as a go alonge with life. 3nodding

I believe in the power of free will... I am agnostic myself, but only because I think anything else has too much potential to be close-minded. Atheism bothers me because it's the refusal to believe in any kind of higher power and for me that's just so... bullheaded. I also don't like it when people follow a religion so closely they stop forming thier own opinions about morals and how to live thier own life.

[Larn] I also don't like it when people follow a religion so closely they stop forming thier own opinions about morals and how to live thier own life. Exactly! Religion should be about what you believe, not following a strict set of codes. That's why religion makes me so angry sometimes, because so many people forget that. I personally cannot bring myself to believe in God, at least the way Christians portray "Him." My mind just cannot believe that he exists. But I still can't say that no "higher power" had anything to do with the creation of the universe. I would love to be able to consider myself a part of a religion, but my beliefs are too conflicting with everything out there. I think, as long as you know what you believe, you don't need to affiliate yourself with a religion. Maybe you could look for philosophers you like, as opposed to a religion?

Jeez, make me feel wierd...
I'm a Christian. My parents brought me up in the church, and I feel that I personally never didn't know Jesus. I always hear stories about people being reckless, sinful(er) people, and I never got a chance to know what thats like. Kinda makes some things in church kinda awkward.
I think that you should be able to do pretty much whatever you want to, as long as you realize that its not right. This is why I listen to heavy metal and feel fine about it. Cause I'm never gonna go out there and do that sort of stuff.
I do respect pretty much all religions though, just to avoid being called intolerant. Agnostic, atheist, Muslim, I'll put up with it.

Like in heavy metal, I know the guys who play the music are a bunch of hell-raisers, but I know that, and don't do that sort of stuff. I can't think of many examples... sweatdrop

Somebody else believes what I do! It's what you believe that counts...only exception from -[bobby]- is that I'm an Episcopalian. I'm rather active in my faith, and I do believe in God. I just hate it when others don't accept people outside their own faith. It's not right. Faith should be about love, not exclusion.
About people taking religion to the extreme: I think everyone has their own moral compass that either tells them to lead or follow. I'm a leader, and I have my own ideas, yet I still believe in God and pray. Some people think that's offensive. The trick is not to get annoyed with others. On the other hand, just because you follow a religion, does not mean that you don't have your own opinions.
Sidenote: Did you know that Jack White thought about being a priest? Weird, eh?

I'm sort of a respectful eclectic mix of a religion, mostly Santana Dharma (Hindu) and Kemetic beliefs. Yes, I'm quite the oddball in my family. xd But to figure out my beliefs I just kept learning and researching any religion I could until I found ideas that I agreed with and could live by.

I am christian. I really have issues naming a denomination becuase most churches get too caught up in politics. I don't believe that someone should be spoonfed their beliefs either, which is what many religions do.

There's a problem in this statement. Not to sound rude, but your making it sound like your just browsing religions and seeing which one best suits you, and it doesn't really work like that. Religions aren't something really supposed to be thought about like that, it's supposed to be you truely believe it or you don't. You seem to question religious principles, which is fine by me, I don't mind. It's good that you do. But don't worry. Should you want religion, it will find you. I'm aeithist. (sp?) xP

I used to be wiccan, but after looking into the old paganism the new wicca stuff started to look sketchy, pretty much like a bunch of teenagers pretending to beleive in a god/dess so they can practice magick. Now, I'm not quite Pagan, a bit laid back. I don't beleive in a specific higher power, but just the fact that the higher power itself exists. I also beleive that everyone and everything is connected. (And if you watched mythbusters, they pretty much proved plants can read your mind. They hooked up a lie detector to a houseplant, and hit it and sent thoughts towards it to which it reacted. The only time the plant didn't react on the lie detector was when they were behind a glass wall, but if you think about it someone standing behind a wall doesn't seem very threatening wink lol I pretty much beleive in everything like astral projection and psychics. I am also realizing that I am without a doubt the WEIRDEST kid on this bulletin. I love it.
