I have a bit of a problem. I want to make sure I'm not overreacting or anything, but I'm worried...
Lately, I've been randomly experiencing a rather peculiar illness. It comes and goes with no warning, but it more than often happens early in the morning, around 1 or 2 am. My stomach begins hurting with a pain that's the most severe I've ever felt. I'm violently sick. My body temperature goes berserk. The weirdest thing is that while all this is happening, my nose closes up, and it feels as though my air is being cut off. And then, it suddenly goes away.
Now, I know several nurses, and I've asked them about this. They've told me it sounds like nothing they've ever heard of. I'm worried that perhaps I'm being plagued by something of a less physical sort. Now, mind you, I haven't seen anything to suggest this; no violent nightmares, no apparitions, nothing of the sort. I've tried to protect myself from psychic attack by various means, if that is what this is. I just want to know that I'm not being paranoid, or jumping to conclusions that I shouldn't. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? If so, how did you deal with it?
I'm sorry if this all sounds a bit dramatic. I completely understand if you don't believe me. But it is starting to worry me...thank you in advance for your help.

This should be common sense, but if you are accurately reporting your symptoms (aka, not exaggerating for drama or sympathy), GO SEE A DOCTOR.

Hn. I have. Or, rather, nurses, LIKE I SAID. I've had bloodwork done. Nothing's showing up. These symptoms aren't akin to anything either they or I have read or heard about. If I had another alternative, I certainly wouldn't have turned to you people. I'll know better next time.
And Miss Star, I most certainly am not saying this 'just to get attention'. Funny, I thought this was the Self-Help section. I guess I misinterpreted the other posts in here to mean that it was people seeking aid from others.

you said, quote-"My body temperature goes berserk" unquote. I interperate this to mean that you randomly get sudden extream fever... If my interperataion is correct I suggest that you keep a record of the exact temperatures just to be sure you aren't mentaly misintepreting a change in the rooms heat for change in body temp. You should check your blood pressure relax whan you do it (and don't try to fill out a survey about sex drugs and suicide with your left hand [assuming you are right handed] while doing it) for a good reading. Check it during your illness attack and then several hours after. Also look on your body for any strange marks (that you don't usualy have). Then at then end of the day look at all of you data (no I don't want to sound like I see you as an expireiment and I'm sorry if thats how I do sound) and see if theres anything different than normal ... Mabey post some of it, or pm me with the information. It sounds realy bad.
Also did you get bitten by any critters latly that could be a problem.
I hope you consider my advice and get better . or get better without my advice which ever works.

Sorry if I insinuated that you were doing it just to get attention, but many often aren't careful of how they choose words, and the way you chose your words (aka "violently ill" and "berserk temperatuers") made it sound like you need to be hospitalized IMMEDIATELY. Nurses aren't doctors... they can help and diagnose basic things, but if they can't figure it out, it really is a good idea to see someone else. Professionals are better suited to help than anyone here is! Also, if you're suspecting something out-of-the-ordinary, you want to be sure to eliminate any possible mundane explanation before attributing it to something paranormal. I've known people who were convinced that their health problems were due to prophetic dreams, when really it was because their diet was terrible and they barely slept. confused

You're right, I should have been more precise. By my temperature going berserk, I mean that different parts of my body feel (to the touch) vastly different. Like, my stomach will be freezing, my head will be normal, and my arm will be hot.
Well, I suppose I didn't really expect to get help here. Nevermind.
Funny all the things I've read in this guild that are absolutely ridiculous and sound like something from an anime show, yet are believed...and when I ask a genuine question, even saying myself that I didn't think it was anything supernatural, I just didn't know what else it might be, I get a thousand different things that it 'might be', even though I've ruled all of those out already. Hm wink

To me, it almost sounds like an allergic reaction. That could explain your nose "closing up," the vomiting, and even the body temperature thing. I know I've had a shitload of illnesses neither I nor my doctors could explain, but to me it really sounds like an allergic reaction. Have you started taking any new medicines, recieved any sort of insect or animal bites, or has there been any recent change in diet or habits? Do you have any known allergies?
I know you're annoyed with some of the responses you recieved, believe me, I get annoyed with some of the members, too, but you just have to be patient. I'm going to have to agree with Starlock that nurses aren't nearly as qualifies as doctors are (otherwise they'd be doctors), and you may want to go to the ER if it gets too bad. If it is an allergic reaction, we wouldn't want you to have a severe episode and go into anaphylactic shock or anything of the sort. Also, along the lines of what Starlock said, try to eliminate any possibility of it being an actual physical illness before you start suspecting the supernatural, though I can understand that you're discouraged after going to the nurses and being unable to find a cause. So yeah, just be a little patient with the members of the guild. If you don't like what they have to say, correct them or tell them politely, and then wait for more help before you give up.

I would have responded this way to a topic regardless of where it was posted, but then I'm both a scientist and a skeptic (though also a spiritualist and a believer)... can't speak for others though. Again, though, I still would check out and eliminate possible mundane explanations first and foremost. If you want to do something in the meantime, though, it might generally help to do some grounding. Do you know some basic grounding techniques?

I would have to agree with the others in saying that a doctor would definately help if for no other reason than to rule out anything mundane. However, if this is something of the more than natural sort than I would suggest some shielding, but you said you already tried that, no? I would suggest that during these times you could check and see if there is someone nearby that may be draining energy from you. Ridiculous as this may sound, it is very possible and does relate to the pain in the stomach... but I would definately not consider this to be all you do, please, for your benefit, go see a doctor. Nurses know what they are talking about, but just because they haven't heard of it doesn't mean a doctor hasn't.

Most of the original guild members aren't as out there as the newer ones. We've lowered the standard. That's why I haven't been posting...

Try self-massaging some acupoints:
- The primary one I'm thinking of is on your midline, halfway between your navel and your xiphoid process (the bitty tip on your sternum). That regulates the middle burner of the body and harmonizes the Liver and Spleen (I capitalize them because it's the meridians named after them, not just the organs). This is classically indicated with violent stomach upset, especially with onset of symptoms between the hours of 1-3am (corresponds with the Liver meridian). Spikes in temperature also point to Liver issues, and strange differences in temperature indicate a problem with one or more of the burners (Upper=chest, Middle=abdomen, Lower=below the navel).
- Also try massaging a point between where the bones of your big toe and second toe meet. That's an equalizing point for the Liver (since more of the symptoms relate to Liver instead of Spleen), and will disperse or build as necessary (nice safe class of points for anybody unfamiliar with acupuncture theory).
- A last point to try is on the back of your hand, at the wrist crease, in the indentation formed roughly in line with your ring finger (to the outside of the big obvious tendons). It's in the same class of points as that foot point, but regulates the three heaters.
If massaging these points helps with your symptoms, even a bit, it's probably best to try getting an appoitment with a good acupuncturist. We needle freaks kind of specialize in weird symptoms with no obvious medical cause. In the meantime, as always, it's still best to check in with your doc as well to rule out interesting metabolic issues and the like.
