Why is it that most people that I know that like Sailor Moon also like Fushigi Yuugi? (I am not an exception)

I love sailor moon, and have never seen Fushigi Yuugi...

Yuu Watase even said herself that Miaka resembled Usagi. Watase-san favored Sailor Moon before she even wrote Fushigi Yuugi. Since the two have similar characters, only in the beginning, and deal with large groups fighting together for a person, it's not wonder that people who love Sailor Moon would also fall in love with Fushigi Yuugi.
Similar love plotlines.
Girl loves boy, boy doesn't love girl.
Boy and girl get together, best friend(s) fall for boy as well.
Boy and girl get separated, boy turns evil.
Girl turns boy back good, they get back together.
And this happens in BOTH anime/manga. That happens in about the same sequence, as well...there's more, but I shan't go on... sweatdrop

I didn't notice all those ties Angel Baby. That would help explain people's like of both series as well.
Also, if you live in North America - Sailor Moon was the first anime I was exposed to, I didn't even know what anime was when I started watching it. And then when I started to learn of other animes, Fushigi Yugi was a logical jump because it is in the same genre.
Personally, while I like both, I prefer Fushigi Yugi.

You know...I love them equally, but I love everything, from both authors, that I read. Especially Watase-sama's "Imadoki"!!!! 4laugh

well sailormoon is clearly the best out of the two becasue there are more strong female rolls in it.
i also personally like it better because:
~they stay on the planet earth (most of the time) in current time
~it's not that complicated to figure out the story behind it all

The plot lines of both are dynamic and the art is beautifully done as well. Small wonder so many people like both. I prefer Sailor Moon to Fushigi Yuugi, just because Fushigi Yuugi is a bit too much romance for my tastes. Sailor Moon takes a step back from the soap opera in a lot of episodes.
