Back to Compound

After you are brought in through the gates, you are escorted to the laboratory building. Once you enter the door you're in what everyone calls the Waiting Room. Your eyes are drawn to a rather large desk with a receptionist almost always typing away on a state of the art desktop computer.

Within the reception room are leather couches lining the walls. Side tables with magazines and books to read. Here is where you'll be taken when you're brought to the compound, and this is where you wait when you've been called in for an examination, or if you have an appointment with one of the lab techs.

Rules of the Compound.

* The guild is for IC Roleplay only. - Please keep OOC RP in the shop thread.

* Only subjects can be members of this guild. - It is encouraged that you create a mule for the purpose of this guild.

* Creating threads - [ORP] is Open Role Play, that is, anyone can join. [PRP] is Private Roleplay, only specific characters can participate(usually decided by the persons involved), or one-on-one RP. [F-ORP] or [F-PRP] indicate the RP is finished. Please be sure to label threads.

* Journals - As mentioned in the Apartment Listing thread, ensure to label your apartment: [Journal] 'character's place/apartment/etc' [Apt #] (Replacing what's in the ' ' with your character's name etc, and the # with the number of your character's apartment.

* No God-modding.

* There is no escape or outside communication. Period. Believe that whatever plan your character may have, Saxton will see that it fails. There is no escape. There is no outside communication. If you do happen to escape the compound, you won't get far before the chip activates and you'll be in too much pain to move, let alone make a run for it. Saxton doesn't want you in pain, but if you're silly enough to try and get away, then he has no qualms over hurting you in order to bring you back in.

* Any attempts to kill Saxton will fail. - Porbably, anyway. You might be able to hurt him slightly, but you can't kill him. The monitoring chip will render your character unconscious before they have the chance. And punishment for an attempt on Saxton's life are harsh. But, he's never had to deal that sort of punishment, and he'd like to keep it that way. Same thing goes for the other NPCs.

* Remember your monitoring chip! - The chip prevents you from being able to kill any other subjects, or yourself, as well as the staff. Fights are allowed in the complex, but remember what you are - Still in some way, human. You are not super-strong, you are not a one-hit-killling-machine. After a few blows the device will go off and all participants in the fight will be knocked out, and taken to the lab for examination, and if the situation calls for it, punished.

* Be mindful of your powers - You may have a certain amount of control over an element, that does NOT give you the power to escape, or destroy the place. The monitoring chip is designed to prevent you from using your powers to deliberately harm or destroy, as well as designed to prevent you from escaping. That doesn't mean accidents don't happen. You might accidently ruin a table by losing concetration and burning it, or you might accidently hurt someone or yourself.

NPCs

The NPCs are the only characters allowed to god-mod. NPCs are played by me(]Evan[).

NPCs

Each staff member is a researcher, and also scientist. They all take on similar duties, but each have a particular area of expertise. Their name's are coloured in the font colour they RP in.

User Image
Saxton Cain
Owner and Director of the Research Institution. He's a serious sort, but not without a sense of humour. Catch him on the right day, and he might even spend some time with you.

User Image
Preston Cain
Saxton's identical twin, and also owner and director of the institution. He's laid back, and more sociable than his brother. He'll go out of his way to spend time with the subjects. He makes sure the PH levels in the beach and lake are stable, and ensures the water remains clean.

User Image
Alys Nicks
A researcher, and second in command after Preston. She has a playfully bubbly and sweet nature. But she can be serious when she needs to be. She specializes in psychology, and helps keep the recreation room up to date, as well as assists the receptionist.

User Image
Sean Avery
Another researcher, and childhood friend of Saxton and Preston. He monitors the subjects, and also spends time with them. He keeps the training facilities in check, and performs maintenance on the machines when they need it.

User Image
Angelica Lowe
Another researcher. She's quiet, and rarely seen, it's best not to make her mad, as she runs the Experimentation room and assigns serums on subjects. She makes sure the subjects are kept in check.

User Image
Nicholas Smith (Nick)
Angelica's husband. He's very much like her, however he can be seen a little more, and has a bit more of a sociable personality. Nick also helps her with the experimentation room. He also manages the monitors.

User Image
Erica Ferdina
Erica is a researcher, and has a fiery temper. She's cold and some say sadistic, not being bothered with the task of hand picking subjects to undergo... questionable... experimentation. She watches the subjects closely, and gathers information on their backgrounds.

User Image
Jessica Ryan
The receptionist, she's a shy and quiet sort, rarely leaving her desk, and almost always reading or typing away at her computer. She'll help the researches on occasion, and sees to it that the alcohol in the recreation room is always stocked. She helps Alys with keeping the recreation room up to date, as well.

September 22nd, 2006 - Sarina's Arrival

Sarina
It was a sunny day, the sky was clear, and the air was fresh. Sarina was excited about her new life, and followed Preston with a bob in her walk, her eyes studying the inside of the compound, getting to know the area around her.

They reached the Lab building, a large, multi-story building, completely grey and devoid of exciting colours. They reached the door, and walked inside.

Preston Cain
With a smile, Preston guided Sarina to the front desk, and registered Sarina as their first subject. He went to a door, and punched in his code, the fingerprint ID bleeped and the door opened.

"This way, Rina." He said, ushering the young woman into a long white corridor. They walked for some time, before they reached a lift, and in the lift Preston pushed for the third sub-level.

After a time, they reached the third sub-level, and Preston again went about the task of guiding Sarina into one of the rooms. There, stood his twin brother Saxton. The man himself.

"Sarina, this is my brother Saxton. He and I own and run the compound."

Sarina
Sarina smiled, holding a hand out for Saxton to shake, "Hi mister Saxton, it's nice to meetcha!" She said, almost nervously. She had a rough idea of what would happen now, but if Preston was nice, then surely his brother would be too... Right?

Saxton Cain
"A pleasure to meet you, Sarina. But please, call me Saxton." He had no smile like his brother, instead it was a smirk. His first subject. His first experiment. He had the perfect serum for her.

"Please, sit here on the bed, and you'll be given your injection. After that, I'll put you to sleep, and we will go about putting in your monitoring chip." He thought a moment, best explain what that was.

"The chip itself is small, but it lets us know where you are at all times. Your heart rate and bloodpreasure, and other such medical states. It also acts as a security measure should you choose to become violent or otherwise unpleasant. A command will render you unconscious and you will be escorted to the labs, or to your apartment. Depending on the circumstances."

Sarina
Sarina did as instructed and sat on the bed, her legs crossing at the ankle. She sat quietly as Saxton explained what was going to happen. When he finished she gave a small nod.

"Okay. I hope I don't get put to sleep, that doesn't sound very nice."

Preston Cain
Preston gave a light chuckle, "No need to worry. I very much doubt we'll need to resort to knocking you out." And with that, he put on a pair of rubber gloves, moving towards a bench and picking up the syringe. Inside was a black liquid, with streams of blue and purple slowly oozing around.

He approached Sarina, and lifted her sleeve, wiping her arm with an alcohol wipe. Then, the injection. He tried to be gentle, but he could see the girl wince and look away. The pushed down on the plunger, and the serum was injected. Already making its way around her system.

Sarina
She winced, her body tensing just a little as the needle was puched into her vein. She could feel heat as the serum quickly went in, and started flowing into her system.

"Ouch," she murmured, as Preston pulled the needle out.

Saxton Cain
Saxton gave an almost wicked grin as he watched the contents of the syringe shrink to nothing. It was his turn to take over now.

"Lay back, and relax. When you wake up, you'll be in your apartment." He said, as he helped her lay down. He then placed a breathing mask over her, and turned the nob for the sleeping gas to start flowing.

Slowly, he watched Sarina's eyes blink to a close, and when they did, he whispered something in her ear.

September 30, 2005 - Turqoise & Santino's Arrival.

Alys's Point of View

Alys had returned from her trip to the local schools, her last however proved most rewarding. A girl had accepted her offer to become a subject, however little information would be given until after the serum was injected and the microchip implanted. Along with her was a young man, he was under the impression that this was school for music.

She walked through the doors of the waiting room, leaning over the counter to the receptionist and logged the girl and young man in as their second and third subjects. She turned once that was done, and smiled at them, clasping her hands in front of her.

"This is the reception room, but we call it the waiting room. You'll be asked to wait here when you're scheduled for a check up or request to see one of us. Beyond that door over there, is the entrance to the labs. That's our next stop, okay?" A cheerful smile. A reassuring smile.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 29, 2006 11:14 am

Turquoise nodded to show she heard but did not return the smile. Her thoughts were racing and she was working hard to make sense of them. She stared impatiently at where Alys had indicated the lab entrance was. She was ready for this, whatever happened, it had to be better than what she had left behind....

Santino muttered softly to himself, the technical jargon of "lab" and "checkup" were replaced in his head as some sort of place for music and an evaluation of skill, respectively. He was not, however, completely trusting of these words, or the entire situation in general. He looked from one woman to the other, but only a shy, brief glance before he returned his gaze to something distant.

Alys continued smiling, and waved for them to follow her to the door. Her code was entered, and a beep signified entry.

"Alrighty! We'll be heading to the elevator, then one of you will be in room one, and the other in room two." She said, ushering the pair inside, and leading them to the elevator.

Once inside, she took them to sub level three, and when the door opened. A dark skinned woman waited for them. Anjelica.

"Ah, Santino... I'm Anjelica Lowe. Will you come with me, please?" She said, as she started down one end of the hall.

Turq glanced sharply at the boy next to her and smirked. The poor kid looked like he had no idea what was going to happen...He was very calm about it if he did know, anyway. She bit the inside of her lip to keep from showing how excited she was but nothing could keep the bounce out of her step as she strode boldly after Alys.
PostPosted: Fri Sep 29, 2006 11:36 am

He nodded to his technician and took a few quick steps to catch up to her as she headed down the hall. If he saw Turq's reaction, he didn't show it. Santino followed Anjelica a step or two behind, close enough that he was following, but far enough that he could have been mistaken for a stranger who happened to be on his way to the same place.

Anjelica gave a smirk as she heard Santino's footsteps behind her, and stopped when they reached room two. She opened the door, "Come in, have a seat on the bed, please."

--

Alys led Turq down the hall, stopping at room one and opening the door.

"Come in! We'll get you set up in no time," Another smile.

Tino nodded and hopped almost eagerly onto the bed in an atypical expression of enthusiasm. He was excited to attend the "school," and didn't want to outright displease any faculty just yet. He shifted slightly on the foam pad as he told himself that he must be disease-free in order to attend this school so he would not spread anything to the other students. The paranoias still haunted him, but he tried to quiet them with the notion that he was just nervous.

Shaking her head in disbelief at the woman's persistant cheeriness, Turq practically skipped into the room. Out of hearing of the boy, she couldn't contain herself any longer and grinned, launching rapidfire questions at Alys.

"Hey, don't you ever get tired of smiling? Just curious. You don't have to answer that. Is this going to hurt? How long does it take? I am really excited. What if it doesn't work? Hey what are the chances of something going wrong? What would happen if something did go wrong? Has anyone ever died from this? If I died, I would be glad I died trying to do something great in the name of science."
PostPosted: Fri Sep 29, 2006 12:10 pm

Alys couldn't help but chuckle as Turqoise started asking question after question. It was natural, although she had heard Sarina didn't ask, perhaps she didn't want to know?

"I like smiling, it feels more natural than keeping a frown like some here do," she answered, moving towards an electronically cooled cabinet and removing the small bottle, a syringe and poking the needle in, extracting a dark purple fluid with green specks.

"To my knowlege it shouldn't hurt, but please don't hold me to that. It should span across several months, and the chances of it failing to take root is quite small, the serums are developed to latch onto the Y and X chromosomes of the human DNA strane..." She paused, taking in a breath.

"If something goes wrong you have my word we will work hard to correct it, but again, there's a very small chance of that happening... and no one's died from it, so there's no need to worry about that."

--

Angelica went through the process of praparing the syringe, a firey-red liquid flowed within the container of it, and she took an alchohol wipe. Her rubber gloves hugging her hand and she rolled up Santino's shorter sleeve.

"This will hurt a touch, and you'll be asked to breath in a gas afterwards. The gas is an antibiotic which, quite obviously, is inhaled rather than injected or injested." That was a lie, but better to tell him that than the truth. He seemed like he would't handle it. She pushed the syringe into his arm and pushed on the plunger.

He jumped slightly from the initial p***k of the needle, then blushed, embarassed by his reaction. It didn't hurt him; he was just on edge. As the crimson liquid flooded into his veins, he felt a strange sensation pass through his entire body, a kind of heat that was not warm enough to keep the shivers from his spine. Tino did his very best to act like a healthy model student, but found it difficult when the haunting thought of hospitals passed over his mind, again and again. It's just procedure, it's just procedure, he chanted silently to himself.
