Back to Compound

As you walk from the town, your eyes meet with a large forest. It's a jungle of dense foliage and streams, with a lake and small spring close to the center. Be careful what you do in here. There may be some privacy, but scattered around are cameras watching your every move.

If you search, you can find spots in the forest that are completely private, from human eyes, from the cameras, and even from the other townspeople.

[New RP] Continued from the Recreation room

Sarina smiled as she walked towards the center of the forest, towards the spring. It was indeed beautiful, perfectly gleeming in the sun's conveniantly aligned rays. It set a lovely, and relaxing mood.

She glanced up at him, "I come here when I don't feel too well. Which hasn't been often, but I'm sure to visit anyway... I don't know why, but looking at it, or even sticking a foot in the water makes me feel happy... I think you should try."

Tino nodded to Rina, then looked appreciatively around their surroundings. He sat by the water's edge, carefully removed his boots and socks, then set his feet into the spring. He still wasn't fully certain of how he should act, or even how to act at all, so he decided to go with the flow for now. He looked up at Rina and patted the ground next to him in an invitation, then looked into the spring. "I wonder if Turq is going to be here soon," he said with such complete innocence it was almost cute.

Since Rina didn't have shoes to speak of, she simply sat next to him and let her feet soak up the water. She gave a slight shrug, "I dunno, she might have gone back to her apartment... Or met up with the other person that's here," she replied.

Okay, so her brilliant plan to get him here had worked. What now? What if it didn't work and he still felt bad? Should she push him in the water and have a water fight? No... that seemed a little childish.

Her legs ran slow circles in the water, as she stared out into the spring.

Tino nodded, and gave a deep sigh. He then looked out over the water and asked, "Have you met the new arrival? I heard somewhere she's an archaeologist or something..." Turning to Rina, he said, "I don't really have much that I left behind, but she must have had a life before she came here. Do you think she'll try to escape?

She shrugged, looking at him, "I can't say for sure, so far I've only heard that she didn't take the news too well... I haven't met her yet," She gave a very slight sigh.

"Tino... Would... I mean, would you, you know, escape? If you had the chance?" She was kinda hoping he'd say no. But hey, he would probably say yes... Since he wasn't told the truth about the place...

"I'll admit I thought of nothing but escaping since I got here, but I'm not so certain anymore," he said before looking back over the surface of the spring. "Who's to say I could have been anyone worth anything outside the compound? It was probably naive of me to think I could have been a rock star, but that dream was all I had, and I didn't believe it would happen." His voice wasn't sad nor wistful, but rather thoughtful. "I suppose living here I get the chance to do something good for people on a scale I wouldn't normally have the chance to do." He smirked and looked down at his knees. "That's just what I think, though, and it doesn't mean I have to be happy about it."

Rina nodded, listening to him speak. She glanced back into the water, and lifted a leg up, wiggling her toes. She wondered if she'd have toes by the end of it... Okay, stop changing the subject. She mentally shook herself, and let her leg enter the water again.

"I suppose it'd be silly of me to say I'd escape, since I wanted to be here... I guess I'll miss some of the things on the outside world, I mean, I didn't have too much, so naturally I didn't have much to lose..." She bit the inside of her lip.

Is this what a chrush felt like?

Tino absently scratched his shoulder and spoke quietly, "I still don't completely understand what's going to happen here; not that anyone does. I know we'll be... different, but will we still be ourselves? Will we be happy living here once we've changed?" He then stopped and gave Rina a small smile of apology. "I'm sorry. Just because I drive myself crazy with all these questions doesn't mean you have to drive yourself crazy with them too."

Rina giggled, shaking her head lightly, "You think I haven't thought about all of that? That was the first lot of questions I asked Preston when he told me about this place..." She bit her lip again.

"He said we'd still be ourselves, in a sense. And that we'll adapt really well to our environment after our changes and stuff..."

Tino nodded and gave a little shrug. "That's good to know... But still, he can't be completely sure, can he?" He shook his head and chuckled a bit. "Isn't there any way to research all of this? I haven't been here long enough to explore everywhere just yet."

"Hmm..." Rina thought a moment, maybe the labs could give them more information? Or one of the books in the Recreation room?

"Could try the Recreation room, there's books there. Or the lab, if you feel like talking to one of those guys... I don't know too much, but I'll be sure to Ask Preston when I see him," she replied, smiling and glancing at him.

She was hoping he was feeling better, she liked seeing him smile.

Tino was, indeed, feeling better. He took his feet out of the water and slipped them back into his socks, then his boots. Smiling at Rina, he said, "Thanks. That was a really nice thing of you to do for me." He stood up and stretched his arms over his head. "I'll have to come back to this place sometime again, but I really wasn't lying when I said I was tired." He turned to leave, then paused, turned again and reached a hand out to Rina to help her up.

Rina smiled, glad he was feeling better. She took his hand and shook off her feet, fixing up her towel. She walked next to him, nervous, for one reason or another.

Tino walked in silence, his head buzzing with the questions he wanted to ask about... well, everything. He hoped the knowledge would quell his fear a bit, and, hopefully, make him more confident.
