Jonathan stands at the foredeck, looking out toward the docks and the ruined town, unfazed by all the English ships around him. "Go down to the storage holds," he tells Cosette without breaking his gaze, "and see how many weapons we have, specifically muskets." With a frown, he adds, "We may be needing to use them soon if we run into trouble on the high seas."

Cosette nodded curtly and rushed down into the storage holds of the ship. The air was musty and damp as she walked down the stairwells into the belly of the mamoth. Delicately she ran her fingertips through her raven tresses, glancing about the dark room. Grabbing up a lantern she crept forward.
Several barrels where loaded with gun powder, two small hand guns where lain across one of them. Deeper she found the stash of muskets. fifty in all, although some of them where in a bad state of disrepair.

Jonathan, getting bored with waiting for the other crewmates to return, goes below deck to check on the only crew member who managed to do something right. The musty smell of rations, sawdust, and gunpowder fills his nose, making the newly-promoted captain to snort loudly. Once the Englishman got over the pungent smell of rot, he started to examine the weaponry along with Cosette, taking a musket in hand. "<>" Jonathan speaks in French as he examines the musket, "<>"

Cosette looked up as the sound of footsteps echo'ed towards her. She smiled lightly as he inspected the muskets, but she hadnt antisipated what he would say to her. Her cheeks immidately flushed crimson as she looked at him, speaking in her native tounge. There was much more to this man than met the eye. She smiled again, and nodded her head. (Perhaps..) she said softly, quirking her brow slyly and left it at that.
"So... how does this..contraption work?" she asked him, her cheeks fading into a more rose pink.

Jonathan felt incouraged by the rosey blush presented in the dark light of the lantern-light by Cosette. Still, it was his duty to help crew members with their troubles, and that came first before any thought of romance. "These look like they have not been cleaned in some time," he mentions, reverting back to the King's English as he carefully examines the barrel of one such weapon. "Take one for your own personal use, as well as a hand cannon and powder horn, and come up topside with me. The others will need to know which ship to board to escape this hellhole." And with that, Jonathan shouldered the musket he was inspecting, grabbed a powder horn, and left out the door, but not without stealing a very quick kiss upon the cheek of the woman.

Cosettes eyes fluttered in surprised as she felt his lips against her cheek, before she could really respond he had turned on her heels and made his way across the floor. Her hand went to her cheer, her mind spinning. He wasnt like the tales of priates she'd heard....Still...she wasnt about she just be wisked away with but a kiss.
The corners of her lips flicked into a smile as she glanced back at the muskets, she inspected a few and finally found one that was in good condition, or at lest in good apperances. She swept up a powder horn and one of the hand cannons on her way up and out onto the main deck.

Jonathan hisses to himself as he looks up at the sky, noting raindrops hitting his forehead. He frowns back at Cosette in disapproval of the weather and offers her the powder horn and musket he was carrying, "Take these into the captain's cabin. I'll teach you how to use and clean them when we set sail." Jonathan sighs and looks back to the mainland. "In the meantime, make yourself comfortable, I'd rather you stay in the cabin than in a leaky and musty crewhold."

Cosette took the weapon from him, her arms now laiden with muskets and powder horns from the both of them. She peered out at him from between the barrels. He was telling her to stay in the captins cabin? True that was going to be quite the luxory...probably better than any room she'd stayed in. "Alright.. if that is what you wish." she said with a tilt of her head. Her meek nature was barring her against really saying anything else...perhaps once they where on the high seas and she reall learned the freedom of being a priate that would all change. For now, she simply turned on her heels and marched across the deck, awkwardly trying to keep her balance and the load in her arms safe.

Seeing that Cosette was overburdened, Jonathan quickly moved over and opened up the captain's cabin door for her. "<>" he speaks softly to her in French with a slight smile. The bed in the cabin was made just for one, with a large table in the middle of the room, several chairs, and a bookshelf with several tomes. Jonathan peers into the room with a frown, "<>"

Cosette stumbled as he opened the door for her, she smiled and inclinded her head breifly in thanks to him. Her cheeks lightly flushing again. She stepped into the cabin and upon quick inspection she placed the muskets on the table along the with power horns and the smaller hand cannons.
She Turned around to face her new companion, captin or no she did owe him a great debt for getting her out of the cell, even though it was a mistake she was there in the first place. The farther from the gallows she was, the happies she'd bee. (( Thank you, I owe you a great deal. I doubt I'll ever be able to thank you fully for saving my life. be it mistake or not. )) She replied to him, bowing her head again. (( You do not have to...I could easily sleep on the floor or something...It wouldnt be any differnt than I am used to..))

Jonathan shook his and and smiled, "<>" He takes a quick once-over of the weapons and then the room, "<>" His fingers traced along the spines of the books on the bookshelf, frowning to himself with a note to fill it with more worthy tomes. "<>"

Cosette sank onto the bed, crossing her legs with a fluid promtness. She Nodded a bit and gave him a small smile. Speaking in her native tounge was both soothing and making her a little home sick. (Hmm, If you say so sir... If that is how you wish to treat me, I will not stop you.) she said softly, for surely it was the kindest she had been treated in a long while.
"I feel I will not make a good Pirate, but I will try my Best. Or perhaps we'll find I am ill suited for the life style and i'll get off when we make port next, provided...that would be alright with the captin. " she gave a light shrug and sighed her lithe fingers slipping through her raven locks.

Jonathan smiled and shook his head "You are free to leave whenever you wish," he said with a grin, "just as soon as we are away from this town." He opened the door to the outside, frowning at the rain. "<>" And with that, he stepped out into the rain and cold, closing the door behind him, and waited on the foredeck for the other crewmembers to arrive.

Cosette blinked a bit and nodded her head. She was then a freewoman? Honest and truely...With a giggle Cosette fell back onto the bed, her arms over her head as she looked up at the ceiling. She smiled to herself, her mind in a dreamy intoxicated state. "Thank you." she said, to no one in particular...yet to everyone.
