I'm so mad, official winterguard auditions aren't untill November 2nd and I am ready to start practice and learn our show.

We haven't been told anything about it yet except that making it through this fall season(which sucked) will be made up to us in the winter. I know the directors must have a good vision because they're planning on having us in world class within two competitions.

Anywho, we're going to the Dayton Regional, Chesterton Regional, and Finals.

We found out on Saturday that our show's music is Addicted by Kelly Clarkson, which is kinda stupid since it's in 3/4 time.. but whatever. rolleyes I'm still way excited for my first real winterguard season. Our instructor is really serious about it this year...

I am excited for this year, but I'm really not happy right now because the way they wrote the show means I don't get to spin sabre because I have to be on uber-rifle line. I'm angry.

John [Guard Instructor] refuses to tell us.
All we know is that it's a slow song, it has some dialogue, and he wanted to paint our matt red.
That's all we know.
>.<
I'm going insane waiting to find out our show.
I'm prayiong it's not another Kelly Clarkson show.
Our Guard had done Kelly Clarkson for two years straight. A third year, and I'll scream.

Kaerfz: Have fun with Kelly Clarkson. We did Breakaway [I wasn't in that seaon] and Because of You [First season, it was a horrible season]

All I'm sayin is that the past four shows put on by my group are totally different, and this years is not like anything we've ever done before. And there's 32 counts of techno. So you see, basically amazing.

I think I saw two horse shows last year. One was the one that won world class at WGI last year.

OMG it was 3. I was about to go crazy.

We find out our show this coming Monday. One of my fave writers is designing it this year. My director knows the song but won't tell us anything more than "It's a popular song." That's exactly what our designer last year said about "Night in Tunisia." None of us had ever heard of it. rolleyes
Jonathan is cool, though. We know that our tarp is going to be digital instead of painted this year. That'll be sweet, but painting the tarp is always fun, and digital tarps are expensive.
I'm excited all the same.

*ahem* Yeah..... our song is "Stairway to Heaven."

No, not the cool version by Led Zeppelin. No. Dolly Parton's version. Yeah........ It's pretty... in places. I dunno. I'm kinda hot/cold about Dolly. Sometimes I like her voice and other times I don't. I'm not a country music person, but I certainly don't hate the song.
I think It'll be a good show. I like our uniforms and tarp.

I am SO excited. There is no better way to express in words the feelings I have for my guard show this winter.

We had camp Friday-Sunday and we have the entire show out on the floor. Oh. My. God. It's so amazing. I am in love with it. I would try and describe it, but I really don't think it would do it justice, so I am going to make everyone wait and I'll show you a video on youtube when our first competition is taped (see: February 17).

So. Excited.

It's totally hardcore all the way. We've got some Trans-Siberian Orchestra goin' on, and a lot of other stuff I can't really even describe. Just know it will fricking ROCK. SO excited.

The end.

That sounds sweet. I look forward to seeing it then. (February 17 is 2 days after my birthday.) Anyways, ours song is "Time after Time". Not really much else I can say until more of it is on the floor. But it should be cool. Big change from our usual strange shows (ex. "Spiders", which I was part of last year.) but still, I likes. Heh. I can't guarantee any videos, but if there are any I'll show 'em.
Till then...

Our song is "Somebody To Love" by Queen. It should be cool. Not really much else I can say until we start getting it on the floor. For the next three weeks we are having six fundamental practices because we only had six girls on the field for marching band season and Nicole, Nikki, our guard director, wanted twelve on the floor for the winter guard so she recruited me, four other girls, and a guy, because we need him for the story, and so now they have to teach us to spin flag, rifle, and saber, at least the fundamental parts of it. I picked flag and saber up really fast at our first rehersal tonight but I am having a lot of trouble with the rifle. But I've already got a garunteed spot on the dance line because I have eight years of dance training prior to high scool, and that's why she's recruted me. So now that I've basically told you my lifes story...Does anyone have any tips for improving my rifle work?
PostPosted: Tue Dec 05, 2006 1:05 pm
We have like a minute or so worth of drill, and a couple sets of flag and sabre work. We start dance tommorow, I think....

Rifle line... hasn't been announced yet.... I'm not on sabre line (there wasn't even a tryout for that, it's just the same as the fall show... unless we add more later....) so... [flip out]DEAR GOD I HOPE I MAKE RIFLE LINE!!!!!! I'M TRYING SO HARD!!!!!! [/flip out]

*Yay Queen!!!*

ok... how to explain this years song... it starts with the theme from n** tuck, after a min or so the theme from def-poetry(some show my coach watches?) comes in under n** tuck, another 30 or so seconds later they both fade out and the opera form the 5th element comes in, then some middle eastern music (that i think she said came from some porno) can be heard under the opera, they both fade back into n** tuck/def-poetry and the song ends with the n** tuck singer-lady-voice sing-saying "the perfect life" and "life" kinda echos.

we have exactly 1 min. of the show staged and our show desiner (Scott) comes up from FLA. next week to finish the drill, our riffle tech (Mark aka. Poncho ) will be there and the dance tech (Tanya) too, I'm not sure whos teaching saber and Scott doubles as flag tech 'cause our coach (Tammy) is pregnant so she gets to sit around and do nothing cry . Next week is camp and I'm so exited whee !!!
