...Been to WDW lotsa times, but never Disneyland. I'm going for the first time over spring break next year. Anyone been to both? Seems like there are a lot of West Coast folks around this forum, so I'd like to hear what you guys think. Which park is better, Disneyland or WDW? Are the rides better at one or the other, or are they pretty much the same? I know the CA park is smaller, so I hope I'm not disappointed.

Well the each have their own things about them.
Disneyland has the manahorn and the Haunted Manor.
ALthough, disney world does have much, much more. SO I would say Disneyworld 3nodding

I haven't been to both, just DisneyLand, but I know quite a few people who have been to both, and this is generally their take...
DisneyWorld does indeed have a lot more, and is just generally larger and grander.
DisneyLand, on the otherhand, is much cosier and old fashioned. Disney World is sometimes overwhelmingly big and you spend just as much time standing in line and walking around the park as anything else. However, Disney Land is smaller and therefore you can get all over the park a lot easier (don't misunderstand, it is still a lot of walking, but you don't have to take a ferry or anything) and it still has an old timey feel which Disney World apparently doesn't. So in the end, both places have good and bad points. But I don't think either is "bad" they are just different.

Well Disneyland's Magic Kingdom is better than Disney World's. I personally love the fact that Disney World has so many different parks within the park.

This was a long debate in the old guild. In the end I ended up going with, the two parks just can't be compared to one another because the are too different. Though they both have the Disney name, they have very little in common, save a handful of rides and the theme.
Disneyland is my favorite, given I'm a Southern Californian and I go to the park at least once a year. I already have plans to go for a second time this year.
Also, the park means more to me because of it's history. It was created and blessed by Walt Disney himself, something that the other parks do not have the honnor of. It was the original home of Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, and other such rides. My frineds and I always stop in front of the firehouse and look up in the window of Mr. Disney's old apartment, where the light is left for him. Disneyland feels like home to us, and I doubt we could feel that way about any other park.

redface sorry, wasn't around for the old guild. Still a newb here at gaia. That's such a sweet sentiment about DisneyLand, though! Being closer to the east coast, I'm not sure how I'll feel standing on Main Street and seeing a completely different castle at the end of it... WDW feels more like home to me.
When I finally get there, I'll have to stop at the firehouse and see for myself. biggrin thanks for telling me.

Since I live in Europe, there's only a Disneyland, but it's in Paris. So I've never actually been to it yet. It's a bit too far away from where I live. But still, I'd love to go there once.

Actually, I have been to both. I have been to WDW 17 times in a row, and Disney Land once. After you go to WDW, Disneyland is kind of small, and not very nice. WDW is much bigger, and has tons more hotels. Disneyland only has 1 hotel on their property down there blaugh

I've never been to WDW. I really want to but it's to far from here I would have to fly. I've been to Disneyland though. I don't go a lot but I really like it. It's fun. I'm going their next month in fact. 3nodding

I've only been to Disney World, though I've been there sixteen times. (Six being in the past 18 months, as my sister has been working there.) It is true that you have to walk a lot to get from one end of the Magic Kingdom to the other, but if you know the shortcuts (and how to avoid the parade routes), it really doesn't take too long. I also like the four seperate theme parks in Disney World. I hope I get to go to Disneyland someday, though.

Three words: Haunted Mansion Holiday.
Only one park currently has it, and that is Disneyland. That, and my cousin lives in California, and it is always a delight to go to Disneyland with him.
