Watt was bored. Bored bored bored.... Kay had taken him to the park near their appartment. For most children it should be a fun place to play, indeed the few human children around were laughing and running. But Watt was too small to really play with them. He was doll-sized and unable to play on the swings or join in chasey. He had tried, but with his cloud he was able to catch up to the other children too easily and quickly, and of course that also made it nearly impossible for them to tag him. He'd given it up in the end after they stopped including him.

But the most boring thing of all about the park was it's lack of life. Electronic life that is. At home Watt was surrounding by devices pulsing with electricity. The tv, sound system, microwave. Even just the lights in every room. It was a comfort and delight to be able to feel all the electricity around him, but out here.... nothing. He sighed.

Kay looked up from reading her paper, sitting on one of the many benches. She could see Watt wasn't too happy here. But surely the boy needed physical exercise? She didn't like to let him stay at home too much, watching tv and turning it on and off with a zap from his hands. That couldn't be very healthy? He needed to get out and get some fresh air, but this didn't seem to be working too well either. Strange, he was usually very hyperactive...

"What's up Watt? Tired out already?" She called to him as he zoomed over on his cloud.

Raine sighed quietly as she closed the massive book before her, moving along her cloud until she could let go of the hardback. Mist only peered briefly up from her drawing, taking Raine's book at putting it in the bag as she turned back to her own devices. She knew Raine would finish it sometime today, and finishing a book at a park was the best place to finish, "Raine, why don't you go have some fun out there?"

Raine briefly wrinkled her nose, folding her arms across her knees, "I've tried before. It's.." her voice faded and her eyes looked skeptically at the playground. Last time she attempted to play, she had felt awkward and out of place.

"Go ahead and give it another try." Mist prompted, though her attention was half on the picture so her voice came out a near mumble. Once again the icy Seraphii sighed, floating dully over to the playground while wishing there were a few more clouds overhead. She paused at the ever intimidating slide, her cloud perched at the top as she peered down the long slope. Perhaps she should just go back to sitting in the shade of the trees..

Raine's eyes caught sight of a strange yellow glow, and for a second there it looked almost like a Seraphii. She shook her head, blinking, and staring once more. Her eyes narrowed into focus, then she promptly blushed as she realized that it was indeed a Seraphii. She unconsciously moved behind one of the supporting bars, jumping in surprise when she realized that Mist had come up beside her.

"Aren't you going to go down?" Mist smiled, rather like the cheshire cat she had recently seen in some rather scary show. Raine blushed again, her eyes flicking about as Mist spoke up again, "Ah, is that a Seraphii?" She held a hand up over her eyes, blocking out the sunlight, "Lets go say hi, shall we?"

Raine shook her head, her white hair falling about her in swirls. Mist smiled again, scooping the little Seraphii and leading her over to the group, "Excuse me," Mist called out, pausing in her step to make sure she wasn't inturrupting them.

The paper rustled as Kay put it down in response to a voice calling out. Oh no... it wasn't trouble again was it? Sometimes Watt did have accidents with shocking others. And she really didn't want to try and smooth things over with an angry mother. But the voice speaking didn't sound at all upset or angry... and looking up Kay noticed the young woman wasn't looking m nor dragging along an upset child.... in fact she carried a very small child in her arms, one about Watt's size, complete with tiny wings and cloud too.

"Hello." Kay's expression and tone became instantly pleasant and she looked the new pair over. "Now I didn't expect to be bumping into another one of you today! Another Seraphii right? I think I'm getting an eye for recognising them."

Watt had been eyeing a nearby lamp-post that was switched off. If it were night he was sure he could really make it glow! But his attantion was called back again when the new arrivals came up. He looked over his shoulder and then, spotting little Raine, he beamed and did a spin on his cloud.

"Hey ya!" He piped, zooming over and bobbling around. The only thing more interesting than electrical devices were thunderstorms... but after that came meeting new Seraphii. He'd only met one that he remembered. "What's your name? I'm Watt!" He grinned.

At Watt's words, Kay seemed to remember to introduce herself too. "Yup, Watt and Kay." She added, pointing to herself.

Mist beamed pleasantly, chuckling lightly, "I think it's a skill well learned then." Her eyes fell on the little yellow ball by the lamp post, a little proud herself that she could spot such small creatures from more than an inch away. Usually she would space out before catching sight of a small Seraphii.

Raine kept her eyes politely on her clasped hands that lay on her knees, though they occasionally flickered upright towards the woman to try and inspect her, though she looked back down before she could really determine anything. The young ice Seraphii peeked up once again upon the grand entrance of the strange ball of energy. She blinked in surprise, at first at his courage of moving so fast, then at how he was so open. Feeling a bit taken aback, Raine blushed and ducked her head down again before working away to at least appear to be nuetral.

Finally she peered up again, her face a mask of ice, though she was actually rather happy to see another Seraphii, "H..Hello." She coughed to clear her throat, her eyes glancing away from his form, feeling embarrassed for messing up the greeting alone, "I'm Raine."

Mist nodded, "Pleased to meet you, Watt and Kay. I'm Mist. Come here often? We live around here, so we get to come around the park fairly often." She leapt into the conversation perhaps a bit fast, but unlike Raine, Mist wasn't so shy, though she wasn't exactly a talented conversationalist either due to her bluntness.

(( Ack! So sorry about the long wait! ))

"Heh heh, yeah I reckon." Kay agreed. In reality she didn't think there were many about, she'd only spotted a couple and could find out very little about them but it was always exciting when she did bump into one.

"So.... Mist and Raine?" She looked at them as they introduced themselves and a slow smirk appeared on her face. Mist and rain - she would have taken it as a sort of pun if the pair hadn't introduced themselves as such so casual and honestly.
"That just an amusing coincidence or did you fancy matching names?" She asked with a good-humored laugh. "Oh and yeah, we're not far away either. In one of the appartments over there." She waved her hand vaguely behind her. "Although I haven't taken Watt to the park much... he doesn't seem to like it."

"That's because it's boring! There's no energy. Well, not much. Not like at home with all the lights and tv and mike-mic-microwave." He attempted to say the long name. But after butting into Kay's conversation he turned back to the ice Seraphii.

"Raine huh? Rain rain go away, come again another day!" He sang the last bit, having heard on a children's tv show. "Oh but not you!!" The energetic child quickly added, worried she might get the wrong idea. "You're not like rain rain..... are you? With the falling water and and the black clouds... oh! And the lightening too sometimes!" He circled her a few times on his cloud, as if trying to see if she might start raining or making black clouds.

Mist gave a short chuckle, shaking her head, "Pure coincidence. I actually adopted Raine when she was younger, so her previous caretaker is the one that named her." She smiled warmly as the ice Seraphii, hoping that she hadn't really listened in. Mist still wasn't sure how well Raine had gotten over the transition, though she did seem to have improved over time. "Ah, really? I actually live in some apartments across the way. Simple, but it works. If you guys ever want to visit or have a play day, I can show you where we live." It was common knowledge that sharing one's location with a stranger was indeed unwise, however Mist felt oddly comfortable with any who had a Seraphii. Mist smirked upon hearing Watt's dislike of the park, nodding in agreement, "Raine doesn't care to come here often either, but it's good for her to come out every now and then."

Raine looked over upon hearing her name, though her expression stayed the same. It was usually too hot outside with disturbances and a lack of books. She did have to admit, though, that it grew on her as being sort of interesting.

As the strange electric Seraphii broke out into song, Raine blinked in confusion. Had she insulted him? Was this another custom that she was unaware of? She kept her face a mask, though she began to worry that she had done something wrong. His quick explanation, however, both calmed and confused her nerves. So he wasn't requesting her to leave his presence? Then why the odd song?

"Oh!" She exclaimed as she realized it was a play on words, then slapped her hands over her mouth as she realized how loudly she had spoken. It was pure genious! Raine and rain. Raine had never associated herself with rain as she had always seen herself as one with ice. Now that she thought about it, however, the connection was blatantly obvious.

Raine blushed at her own ignorance, then looked up in surprise as Watt started to buzz about in circles, "I--er--not.. quite.. like rain." She began, not sure what he was looking for, "I'm not rain rain.. I'm ice.. I guess.." She had made temperatures drop to create ice and even snow before, but not rain. Could she even make rain? It would take a lot to change the weather itself though, so she somehow doubted it. Besides, rain was the melted form of ice. Raine dropped the temperatures, not made them rise to melt things.

As proof of her not being rain, though, Raine glided over to the slide and touched it, a thin glaze of crystal forms reaching across the surface, "Ice." She said plainly, nodding her head once.

If his name was Watt, perhaps there was some sort of association there with his element. But.. was a light bulb an element? Raine frowed, remembering that a 'watt' was some form of units, "Electricity..?"

"Really? So you adopted her when she had already emerged?" Kay asked curiously. Did this girl know they came out of stones? Maybe not. But she might know who allowed the adoption. "I didn't know you could adopt Seraphii. I found Watt here... not quite like he is now, as a marble. Yeah, it sounds crazy."

When Mist mentioned showing Kay where she lived, Kay turned to look in that direction. "A play day would be good.... Not many kids around that are Watt's size." She agreed and was kinda glad this person was willing to share their address. If she had to be the one to give out her's she might have hesitated.

"Ice huh? Like the stuff in the freezer?" Watt mused aloud. Intrieged he followed her over to the slide and gasped in amasement as she covered it in a thin layer of fozen water. "Coooool....." He breathed, obviously impressed and excited.

"Electricity? Oh yeah, that's me!" He grinned and held his hands close together as he made a small electric charge jump from one to the other. "I gotta be careful I'm not charged up when I touch people though." He added somewhat seriously. "It can shock them a bit. By accident though!"
PostPosted: Thu Oct 26, 2006 10:33 am

"Yeah, she was really shy back then. She still is, really, but compared to before she's been better." Though Mist still worried about how slow her progress for becoming more social, "I don't really know if any others have been adopted. Raine is the only one I've heard of being adopted, but that's probably because I was the one doing the adopting." Mist listened with fascination as Kay briefly reminesced over finding Watt, "A marble? Wow. I knew the Seraphii came from inanimate objects, but I didn't really know much more than that. Just things I heard around the office where I adopted Raine." A marble sounded rather strange, but certainly unique. Mist couldn't help but wonder what Raine was like back in her first days. Was she a marble as well? Or perhaps something related to the ice that she was so fond of?

Mist chuckled, "It is indeed hard to find others that are around their size. I'll write down my address and phone number, so just give a call whenever Watt gets bored or something." Mist shuffled through her handbag, pulling out a mini-notepad and pen, scratching down a few lines and handing her the paper.

"Um.. I guess." Raine nodded quietly, recalling the trays of water Mist had set in the freezer before. She could have turned them to ice a lot faster. Raine watched as the strange line of light leapt from one hand to the other, fascinated by it's creation and existance. She wanted to compliment his skill, but couldn't bring herself to speak on such sentiments. Perhaps he was the kind that hated being complimented? She had read about such things once before in some odd 'drama' book. It had been highly confusing.

"What happens when you shock someone?" Raine didn't know much about electricity as she had only read briefly about it in a dictionary or a clip here and there. Did people glow when he shocked them? That would certainly be interesting to see.

Kay accepted the piece of paper and read it before putting it in her pocket. "I think I know that street. But yeah, I'll give you a call first and we can set something up."

"As for being shy, she's alot more social than other's I've met. One didn't talk to us... although that was probably because of his young age. But he did his best to ignore Watt and I, although it didn't help when little lightning boy here accidently shocked him."

"That's the only thing I know that makes ice. Hey, can you make ice cream? That's made out of ice right? Well it stays in the freezer too." The boy hadn't been around long enough to witness snow. Nor did he seem to know that just because something had a similar word as part of their name, didn't mean it was nessessarily made out of that. As for cream? Who knew what that was made of?!

"Oh well nothing happens to me, except I get told off. But the other person can hurt a little bit..." He trailed off, not wanting to scare his new friend. He certainly didn't want her to be updet with him the way Andulvar had been. "Not much! Just like... a surprise! And I'm much more careful now." He beamed at her reassuringly.

Mist gave a nod of her head, falling silent as she ran out of things to say, "So... Have a job or any hobbies?" She had been so concerned over Raine's shyness that she had forgotten how bad at communication she herself was. Mist wasn't shy like Raine, she simply never knew what to say.

"Ice cream? Is that not from a cow..?" Raine tilted her head curiously, trying to remember what it was about cows that were so special. They gave milk, they gave meat, and they gave mini-cows. So why did she have a voice whisper in the back of her mind about how ice cream related to cows? She was sure she had read it somewhere, but she probably didn't think it important enough to memorize. Her cheeks turned a light tint of pink as she blushed again, embarrassed at being unable to answer a question.

Raine was curious how a flash of light might hurt someone. She knew that light bulbs became hot to the touch, so perhaps it burned a bit? Raine was tempted to ask if he could shock her, just for the sake of the experience, though the question sounded too bizarre to bring to words. Instead, she moved on to a safer subject, "Can you make electricity come from the sky? Lightning?"

(( This is Kay on my main account, DDB. I think I'll just use this one from now on. The whole 'using-another-mule-for-rp' thing put a dampner on the rp's that used it. The hassle of logging into another account, loading different browsers, it was a pain. And when I only had a few spare moments to check my main account, it tended to overule checking my mule accounts. I hope this way works better. I'll make up a little rp banner for my chars just so you know what Kay looks like and not my avatar char. wink ))

"Oh well my hobby is my job." Kay replied. "Photographer you see? Freelance stuff. Santa photos at Christmas. Some school classes and graduation shots too. That's just to earn a crust. Oh, weddings pay well though." She nodded and looked expectantly at Mist. "And you?"

"Cows? How do they make ice cream?" Watt frowned to himself in confusion. "They've too warm for that I think. You need ice for it. That's why you keep it in the freezer." He spoke rationally, despite there not being much truth to his theory. As far as food production went, he was only really interested in the consumption part at the end of the process.

"Lightning from the sky? Umm.... I can't make it that big. But I can feel it when it's stormy. It builds up. Makes my skin tickle a bit." He chuckled, thinking about how much he liked thunderstorms. Unlike many other young children, he was never afraid of thunder and lightning. "And I can sort of push around things in the house. You know, like the lights and the tv and stuff."

Her blush made him smile. She was nice, this one. Certainly paid attention to him and lots of fun to talk to. But talking wasn't everything, and if there was no electricity about to fascinate him then some action would do the trick. "You wanna play a game? I bet we could go a gazillion times faster on that slide with the ice on to make it even more slippery. Want to try it out?"

((No worries ^^ I pretty much use the same account for everything and just stick a picture in the journal for what Mist looks like for that particular RP))

"Ah, that sounds like fun. You probably meet a lot of people then, huh?" Mist smiled, "I actually do something similar. I'm into art works, painting and the sort. Freelance. It goes rather slowly, but it gets me by."

"Cows would be too warm." Raine agreed, pondering it over, "Maybe if they get cold they make ice cream?" She hadn't exactly tried freezing milk before, but decided that upon returning home she would put a cup in the freezer to see if it would turn into ice cream. Raine did, after all, rather like ice cream.

"Mist says storms make her hair stand up." Raine replied, "Mine doesn't though. Mist says it's probably because I'm related with ice, but I'm not really sure how that would work." Raine also was one not afraid of lightning storms, more because she had read of them ahead of time than any form of forced bravery or sense of fun. Seeing as this Seraphii liked such lightning, though, Raine decided to try being outside upon the next storm to see if it was as fun as he seemed to find it.

Raine thought it odd to be associating lightning with lights and television, but decided that perhaps it did make sense after all, "That sounds pretty convenient. The lights and stuff, I mean."

The small ice Seraphii blinked upon his offer to play a game. The last time she had gone done a slide, the speed surprised her and she ended up making a small wall of ice to stop herself half-way down. She failed to see the entertainment in plummeting unprotected towards the ground. Watt seemed rather enthusiastic over the idea, however, so Raine wondered if perhaps there was some sort of trick to it that would prevent one from getting hurt. "Uh... how about you go and I'll watch from the bottom." Raine suggested, ducking her head to hide her shamed face. If she watched from the bottom, she would at least be able to see this 'trick' or, if need be, create a loop of ice to slow him down if he was reckless, though he seemed rather confident.

"Painting huh? That's not so different from my profession." Kay agreed. "Yeah, I work with a range of people. Depends alot on whether it's commercial work or for personal portraits or whatever. I imagine it's like that for you too. Many people wanting their picture painted? Like the old-school style?"

Watt zoomed over on his cloud to the base of the slide, inspecting it with a huge grin. "Huh? Hair stand on end? Heehee, sounds like Nuria when I shocked her once. But her hair is pretty poofy anyway."

After giving the ice a touch with his tiny finger he soared up on his cloud to the very top of the slide and looked down. "Okay, you watch this!" He yelled and plonked the white cloud down on the surface, leaning forward to push it over the edge like a sled.

"Wheeeeeeeeee!!!!!" He whooshed down it, the lack of friction on both the cloud and the ice making for a very fast ride indeed.

"Yeah, there's such a wide variety of employers out there." Mist spoke almost wistfully, "But it's fun at times. I usually get portrait requests from the individual, but traditional media takes time and materials so the prices are kind of high which turns most people off. I guess old fashioned stuff just isn't all that popular." The young woman gave a short shrug, "But I like it. It's under appreciated, but there's something special about something created by hand." Mist paused as she realized she was preparing for a long rant, but decided against going any further. When it came to art, she got a bit picky at times. "Photography sounds fun though. You get to go into all those limited places I'm sure. Right up there in front of the bride and groom. First dibs on the cake." She smirked, her own sweet tooth tending to lead Mist to thinking about food as a priority.

"Who's Nuria?" Raine asked with a curious tilt of her head. His confirmation about the rising (or rather the "poof") of hair caused her to wonder why hair did that. Did those strange fiber like things have a will of their own then? Did they worship that which was electric? She lifted a strange of her own whitened hair, deciding that to be a strange concept. Though she certainly didn't want to trash the idea after having just come up with it. It would be yet another thing to research later.

Watt's sudden mounting of the icy slide surprised Raine, who would probably have stared down at it for some time before working up the courage to go down the questionable plummet. Her eyes flicked back to the small Seraphii upon his request that she watch, and his pushing off alarmed her. His speed was increased drastically due to the lack of friction, which nearly made Raine cover her eyes, however logic stopped that action as she decided it would be safer to watch his descent to make sure he wouldn't fly off and into the ground at the end. Her view from the bottom of the slide made his approach seem all the faster, and she had to hold back the impulse to create a wall of ice for him to slide through. He had to know what he was doing, and she did not want to interfere and possibly anger the Seraphii, though he didn't seem to be the type to anger quickly. He also, oddly, seemed to enjoy himself on the slide.
