Howdy, everyone! It's Neelloc, back from
the grave college to announce that the Role Play forum is now UP AND RUNNING!
So let's talk rules. There are going to be a few alterations from last time, so pay attention. You will be quizzed.
1.
Obey the ToS! It's there for a reason. No sex, personal threats against players themselves or anything else forbidden in Gaia's Terms of Service. If you're unclear about where to find the ToS,
here's a link.2.
Private RPs are allowed. If you would like your role play to be only between yourself and people of your discretion, that is perfectly allowable. However, please make note of it in the topic headline, and understand that just because it is private, it does not exempt you from the forum rules, and the mods CAN banhammer you if you break the ToS.
3.
Character players will be determined on a thread-to-thread basis. In short, you cannot "call" a character so they can be established as "yours" to play in all past, present and future threads. Why? It makes things astronomically inconvenient for other players if you decide to not participate in a role play that needs your character in it. Henceforth, it'll be established on a thread-to-thread basis by that thread's creator. If there are two people who wish to play the same character, it's up to the thread's creator to decide. If anyone decides to give the creator s**t about who they decide to pick as a character's player, the creator has every right to boot them from the thread.
4.
Original characters are permitted. Once again, it's up to the discretion of the thread's creator, but original characters are not forbidden overall. However, if you want to include an OC in a role play, I suggest you PM their profile to the thread's creator to make sure they're okay with it. ^_^
5.
Please reserve the first post for the story's outline, characters taken, characters needed, and profiles of OCs (if applicable). This makes it much easier for anyone who wants to join in on the fun after the party's started (how I do love my metaphors!).
6.
Please be literate! There's nothing more annoying than sounding out a post phonetically to try and determine what the poster is saying. If need be, type up your post in a word processer that'll catch spelling errors.
7.
Stay on topic! This one's a no-brainer.
8.
NO, absolutely NO Godmodding! NONE! Playing for other people's characters is rude, and definitely will not be tolerated. For the uninitiated, Godmodding is this. Suppose I'm playing Busuzima, and someone else is playing Long:
"So, you come here often?" Busuzima asked with a lecherous grin on his face. Long shook his head.
Suppose Long's player wanted to smack the crap out of Busuzima instead? In this same vein, please don't make your characters all-powerful. In role plays, people can toe the line and make the characters OOC shadows of their former selves. Try not to make them into Mary Sues or Gary Stus (unless it's been established that they are already. Then by all means, play on).
9.
Stay in character! As stated above, try not to abandon the traits that make your character your character, even if they are negative. Would Busuzima really be Busuzima if we all weren't a little bit scared of being molested by him? Can Long
actually play the cello? Look deep inside your
soul. That's it! You kids have fun, and I officially declare the RP forum open!
