http://articles.news.aol.com/business/_a/wal-mart-wishes-you-a-merry-christmas/20061109070609990008?cid=2194
I hate the fact that some places are arguing about being able to say merry christmas.. I feel that it is stepping over the freedom of speech and religion.. how do you feel about this

you think they took that too far. ok here in little old carlsbad new mexico, there was an atheist woman who sued the city court house because they had the nitivty(sp) scene-the birth of jesus christ-on the front lawn. well there really wasn't much of a fight up on her end because she forgot her meds. well the state won but they now put santa snoopy or whatever non-christian/donomination thing they want. but what got me is that she sued....over something as trivial as that.
honestly I think in any place you should be able to say "marry christmas" "happy christmas" "happy xmas" 'merry xmas" or "shut the hell up" I really don't see any relivants in what you can or cannot say.

horsevr345 i say you should be able to say it, theres no rules against saying happy kwanza or happy hannukah, so why can't they say merry christmas because they feel as if it is raceism if you tell them that they cannot say that. but there are places that do not allow any saying of the holiday what so ever.

some day I am going to move next to someone (on purpose) that doesnt like anything to do with God... I will have the biggest nativity any of ya'll have ever seen, I will have the north star shining in their bedroom window.. on easter I will have a donkey in my front yard.. real.. and hopefully it will go next door and poop.. then on Halloween when the children are tricker treating I will give them bibles instead of candy, I would have a huge sign that said under god, or in god we trust. I would blare christmas music.. all this to just make my point to one person..
you know here is a peice of trivia, there was a woman that took prayer out of schools.. making it not allowed to say a prayer at a graduation, at a memorial for a student that has died.. she took it right out of there.. the moment of silence that was given at the beggining of the day so any religion could start out the way they wanted to, anyways, her son became a christian after his mother pushed so hard to rid his life of christianity.. the sad thing is all these people are taking away our rights.. this country was founded on christianity, that is why we broke from england, it should not be illegal to pray anywhere you want, they are turning this world into china, you cant talk about God there with out the fear of being killed.. blah blah blah I will stop ranting, I have gotten myself off subject.. eeks.

There are arguing over something that stupid. Shesh, I wonder how much longer it will be untill someone goes on a mass human genocide. Not just one praticular race or group, but the whole world.

We were having a disscussion like this in my AP class like a week ago.
The secularists just dont want anything to do with religion (and it's not just Christianity, its all religions) so they try and get rid of everything that has to do with religion. They try and form their arguments by saying that religion causes wars and outbreaks of terror and all that crap. But they forget that some of the greatest massacres of people (i.e. the Holocaust) was done by someone who was secularist (i.e. Hitler)
As a Christian... and dont believe it's necessary to cut out the "Christ" in Christmas... but its not like everybody does that just to get rid of religion... maybe their just trying to save space
Chitsmas Xmas. But what do I know... I'm only thirteen.

you know what would make all of this go away..... dEATH TO ALL NON-BELIEVERS. razz
of course it seems apprent that we have nothing but christians in the discussion.
this is what you do when someone is telling you that you cannot say merry/happy christmas. you tell them that your a sueing for trying to take your rights away and that right is freedom of speech, and that they a repressing that freedom. if they scoff, hell they will get a letter in the mail telling them a court date. this would be a hands down win.

True fact for those of you interested in it lol...
Last year the local paper printed an article on this topic stating that Wal-Mart employees were not allowed to say "Merry Christmas" to customers. It explained why it was too oriented on a single religion and would offend some customers and etc... and that Wal-Mart employees were only allowed to say "Seasons Greetings" or "Hapy Holidays".
That night when I went into work my manager read an email. It was from home office and it said essentially "You can say whatever you please and not fear repercussions. Whatever the news may have to say concerning the subject is not information they have recieved from us and therefore likely inaccurate." And yes, the email ended in "Merry Christmas"
I plan to this year also see off customers I help with "Merry Christmas".
