Does anyone here know the meaning of the names Pique and Lily? Or why Tutu's teacher was a cat? was there some sort of meaning behind it or was it for simple amusement?

Well, I know Lily is a flower ^^! And the word pique can be used in a sentance such as "their interest was piqued", meaning aroused/provoked. Those are only the english standpoint anyway though. I believe Pique is originally a French word...
As for Neko-sensei/Mr. Cat, well... that goes a little bit farther into the story itself. You'll notice the appearance of animal characters throughout the show; and in the first episode, we learn that everyone apparently sees this as normal, even when Ahiru is surprised to see that a cat is leading the class. It isn't something that was always normal to Kinkan Town (and isn't normal to other towns, as can be seen in Akt. 6, when the travelling troupe comes in); it started with the story going astray. I suppose it was just kind of a... magical after effect of the sudden revival of magic/the story within the town. No one noticed the change because... well, that's just how magic works I guess xD;.

yes, but i was just wondering if there was some sort of symbolism with each chosen character. like, why is the instructor (mr. cat) a cat and not a dog? Or why that girl who was obsessing over mytho was an anteater? i wanted to know if there was some sort of symbolism with it.

Aaaah... I see. I don't think it goes any deeper than that ^^;. I may be wrong, but I don't think there's any special symbolism.

I think this is the Reason Mr. Cat is a cat. SPOILER!!! Drosselmyer kinda rules the town right? Well I think it was one of his attempts at amusement to turn people into cats and other animals It's just a theory I don't know for sure End Uh yeah... Sorry if you couldn't read that... I hope I helped!

Correct Pique is a ballet term... "Pique Turn" Where you lift a toe up to the notch in your knee, and do a turn. That is the easy explanation
