I thought I'd start a poll on whether Mulan should count as a Disney princess. They market her as a princess, but almost nobody I know considers her one.

That's the question I always had. gonk
I think her dad's well known, and she gets with Chang who's like...the emperor's top soldier or whatever...but I don't think that makes her a princess... confused
But then again, I dunno.

Technically, she's not a princess. However, because her image sells so well, she is marketed as a princess.
It's all about the money xP

It's my biggest rant. We go to Disneyland and California Adventure frequently, and on one of our trips we had dinner at Ariel's Grotto in DCA. It's a Disney Princess meet'n'great resturant, which I LOVE heart ! But...gag They have Mulan as a Princess sometimes. Now, I'm not a huge Mulan fan, but everytime she comes to my table I just want to tell her that is NOT a princess and that she should find the hero meet'n'great where she belongs.

I have a picture with her. 3nodding Me too. Also she shouldn't be all freakind dolled up. She's like that for like 5 FREAKING MINUTES!! She should be either in a normal dress (like the green one she wears at home or the blue one at the end) or in a gi or even an armor. That's more Mulan-ish that the pink evil dress! Also I think she would be fine enough in the heroes table. Actually I find her more of a hero than the incredibles. The incredibles have powers to beat bad guys, Mulan has to use her head to overcome people bigger than her.

I was just thinking of heroes off the top of my head.
But of course they won't do that. xp
I'd hate to be dressed up in that dress all day...it'd suck.
But she does belong at something more for heroes than princesses. rolleyes

Oh, how aggravating! I still stand by my opinion that they group her in because she fits the ideal of a Disney Princess. Strong, independent, determined. I think that's the idea they were going for. and in the process they ticked off the fans. xd

Somewhere I heard a theory that Mulan really is a princess. Supposedly in China women don't have to be part of a royal family to be called "princesses."

There is no way that Mulan can't be a princess, she has to be born in a royal family.
