there is language, which isnt polite, but you use it in boks, formal writing, newspapers, when you ned to talk in a formal but non-polite way (watch your news form an example of this in english)

sadly, your problem is that there is even vocabulary for talking like this. and you will have to change a few things too.

1.

first and most obious if 「だ」 Is to informal and 「です」 Is to polite, literary language it becomes:

「である」

だ= である
じゃない=ではない
だった=であった
じゃなかった=ではなかった

Literary language, the normal form of verbs is used, what westerners label as informal becuase they have no idea what to call it:

Example with 使う

使う
使わない
使った
使わなかった

使って
使い
使え

To say "i ate and drank" in normal and polite language is

食べて飲んだ ・ 食べて飲みました

The te form of the first verb has the and implied but literary language it is the stem form:

食べ飲んだ

For いる The stem preferred is おり (Teiru, whose stem is tei becomes teori)

やくざにおり「Mafia」にいた

I was in the yakuza and in the mafia (perhaps telling a news reporter in the mafia (perhaps telling a news reporter)

The 'da' and 'desu' changed to dearu...isn't dearimasu formal for dearu?

Delete this if you want.

Newspaers prefer 「だ」 Or nothing、Quite like regularlanguage (especially because nothing at all is normal, except when using です、Other wise, you barely hear 「だ」 Because desu IS only there for politeness)
