One Halloween's Eve
A Night To Forget.
PART ONE

A woman with curly orange hair approached the large oaken door, carrying a bag of groceries, and an umbrella, to shield her from the rain. She blinked, as she contemplated how she was going to juggle an umbrella, the bag of munchies she went to retrieve, and opening a door. Another sigh escaped her lips, blowing a strand of orange hair out of her eyes. “Why, Mysteh, did you volunteer to go out into the pouring rain to get the food?” She sighed, as she managed to tuck the umbrella under her arm, and stretch an arm out tentatively towards the door, for it to squeak open on it's own.

Mysteh blinked, looking through her shades, suspicious at this. It was so cliched, it wasn't even funny. “Funny, guys.” She said, taking a few steps into the main hall of the Suggah Mansion. Suddenly, the door slammed shut. Mysteh whirled around at the harsh sound of the door slamming. She rolled her eyes. “Hilarious... this just gets funnier as it goes.” She said out loud, into the light-less main hall of the Mansion. It seemed ALL of the lights were off...

Hm. This is probably OJ's idea, the little whack job... yeah, yeah. I know how it is, let's all play a cruel joke on the vice-captain... She thought to herself, as she reached for the light switch. She knew where every light, closet, room and secret in this mansion was, and she found it instantly. Flicking it on and off, nothing happened.

He would go through all this trouble... or are all the crew in on this stupid joke...? Mysteh thought, as she walked through the Mansion, towards the common room, where they all were last. Her leather boots making an eerie thud echo every step she took. “Alright everyone, this is REALLY getting on my nerves, cut it out and get down here, and get your snacks RIGHT now!” She said, in a motherly manner. She stood there, tapping her foot.

She looked around the dark common room, and there was an ember left in the fireplace, and she sighed, reaching towards the light switch, and that one too, didn't work. So, Jonny cut the electricity to the entire Mansion? Jeez, talk about taking this joke to a whole new level... She thought, leaving the room, and going to the wood room, where Jonny and Rob had taken the liberty of buying, splitting and stacking wood for use in the colder seasons. Today was one of those such days, as they were all sitting around in the common room, having a good time, when Jonny, coincidentally thought it would be a GREAT idea to get snacks. Yami was the one who suggested that I get those snacks... I bet those two came up with this entire joke... She grumbled in her mind as she lugged a few logs of wood to the fire from across the common room, to the fireplace.

She threw the logs into the fireplace, and reached about the mantle. She found the box of long matches, and found the can of gasoline they used to quick-start a fire, and saturated the logs in the gas and threw a match onto the fire, and watched the logs burst into flame, and she smiled. For some reason, she was chilled to the very marrow, and something felt odd about everything, but she had the warmth of fire to heat her up...

But suddenly, the warming of the air caused a scent to become heavy in the air...

And Mysteh suddenly felt nervous...

...For she could smell blood in the air...

“H-help... Mysteh... I'm... d-dying... the mask killed mel...” A voice groaned from behind her, and she whirled around, and there was Jonny, lying on the ground, reaching out with blood soaked hands. His katana was plunged hilt deep into his back, and his scarf was half down, his eyes heavy, and filled with pain.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!”

Mysteh trembled in terror. Jonny drew trembling breaths, as the air chilled, and the window burst open, and the fire went out. All Mysteh could hear was Jonny's breath's shuddering, trembling, gasping to catch the air, but getting none. “You've entered the nightmare...” Jonny's shuddering voice gasped into her ear, and she fainted, as she felt blood spatter from his mouth onto her neck.

When Mysteh Came To...

What a terrifying dream... Mysteh thought, thinking about the wet breath of a dead man on her neck, the wet sensation of blood touching her skin... seeing a friend dead... it made her skin crawl... but when she finally opened her eyes, she saw a pair of dead ones staring back at her, a pair of ice blue, placid eyes staring into her soul.

Mysteh's breath caught in her throat, as she slowly crawled away from him,the rank scent of blood heavy in her nostrils as she realized that the side of her face had been laying in his blood which pooled around him. “Oh... sweet lord... what's going on....” She muttered to herself, as her trembling hand wiped the blood from her face. Standing, her legs shaking, she became fearful for her life.

There was something in this Mansion... something unnatural... and it killed Jonny... what about the rest of the Mansion-goers?! Were they safe? Did they get away while Jonny sacrificed himself to fend off the monster? But he died... and he was skilled with his blade... how had the others fared?!

She looked to the blade that found it's sheath deep within Jonny's back... would she desecrate his body by removing that blade... so she could potentially protect the others? What would he have wanted? She stared into Jonny's eyes... those cold dead blue eyes... for some sort of answer... but she did decide to take his scarf... as a memento to the memory of what he did and what he stood for... and died for his friends.

She understood what to do... and it was to not let his effort go in vain... “F-f-forgive me...” She said, placing a foot on Jonny's back... and gripping the blade to remove it from it's bloody sheath. Terrified at this prospect of removing a blade from a close friend... she removed it slow... and she would never forget the sound it made... the sound of human meat being sheared by metal... and held the blade... ready to be the Mansion's new heroine...

What fate will befall the Mansion...?
More installations will answer your questions...
Stay tuned.

One Halloween's Eve
A Night to Forget.
PART TWO

Mysteh clutched her pendant as she drew shuddering breaths and took steps through the Mansion. Her white top was slightly stained with Jonny's blood, and her hand faltered as she held the heavy blade in her hands as she stepped through the Mansion... never in a million years did she fear something like this happening in her home...

Suddenly she remembered about Yami... what would she do when she found out about her newly married husband?! He was dead... and she wondered how she'd take it... Mysteh looked at the scarf she had folded and tucked into her pocket. She decided she'd give it to her when she found her... if she was alive... NO, she refused to think like that... she shuddered to think what fates the others had met...

“Hahahaha...HaHAHA... hah hah...” A laugh rasped out through the halls. “Mystehhhhh... HAHhahahah...HAH!” The voice rasped, and Mysteh held the blade tightly, and heard the laughter coming from the South Tower, where some of the dorms were. She knew there were at least a few of the newer members of the Mansion were resting. She had to go save them from the maniac that killed Jonny! So, she ran up the stair vigorously, and approached the South Tower dorm common room... and reached for the door knob... her hand shaking at the concept of plunging this blade she held into the killer's heart in vengeance.

Finally, gaining enough courage, she managed to push open the door, and take a courageous step inwards, and brandished the razor-sharp blade. Standing within the common room of the South Dorms, she rushed to the windows, to even let in the slightest of moonlight, but when she pulled the string on the blinds, and opening the blinds, it was pitch-black, no hint of moon whatsoever. But, the sound of rain pounded against the windows, like rock against glass, and the rumbling of thunder... and like Mysteh hoped, a flash of lightning... which illuminated the room.

She saw a figure, and it was approaching her, from behind, apparently trying to have caught her off guard. Mysteh yelled in fear, and swung wildly at the figure, cutting them across the chest. The person went flailing backwards, and hit the wall, and as their hand gripped at the wall, for some pillar of life to keep the chill of death from gripping them... flicked on the lights...

There lay the Mansion Maid, a large gash across her chest. “Ow...Lord... Burton won't be happy... about these messy...blood stains...” She gasped, clutching her chest, and Mysteh dropped the blade in terror, looking to the poor Maid, who she just ended the life of... but something was tucked into the neck of her dress, a folded note. Mysteh had taken the life of the maid... what had she done!? She just... ended the life of a mortal... on accident...

Mysteh fell to her knees, and tears began to roll silently down her face. “What... have I done...?” She muttered, taking the note, tentatively with shaky hands, as those dead eyes began to haunt her mind. Opening the note, it read:

“You've always harbored a hatred towards her...
Now you've taken your first step towards becoming Sin.
Can you stop it?
Can you stop the ULTIMATE sin...
MURDER?”

And the note was signed with a smiling face. This note sickened her... this maniac tricked her into killing an innocent... tainting her immortal soul... although she never liked the Maid... she almost didn't regret it... wait?! What was she thinking?! She killed someone! You have to regret killing someone... but for some reason, she didn't mind it all too much... and it disgusted her...

Mysteh shakily took up the blade again, closing the Maid's eyes... and left the room. She this time, went through the bedrooms... but found nothing, but the usual rooms. Going through the rest of the South Tower, restrooms, kitchen... there was nothing abnormal.

As Mysteh slowly stepped through the Mansion... she began wondering... who was doing this? Why were the doing this... and why us? Why did the happy people living in harmony have to die?! Mysteh was furious... but she had to follow Jonny's example. She had to make sure to keep the rest of the Mansion alive... so she had to compose herself, and think... what could she do to help with this situation? And as she stood in the dark, the darkness around her gave her the clue she needed. It was DARK. She remembered that Burtz had an emergency cellar near the main kitchen room where the chefs cooked for the feasts and balls. It was behind the kitchen, in a lone hallway... there was a backup generator that ran on gasoline that supplied electricity to the emergency lights and normal lights in the case of an outage.

Her only qualm with all of this... was going through a lightless kitchen... filled with dark corners... and lots of sharp knives. She sighed... because she couldn't do anything about it. She had to compose herself, and stiffen her gelatinous spine and go through that kitchen to shed some light on this entire matter... literally.

She took quiet steps through the hallways, as she approached the dual-opening doors... made of durable steel that could be pushed with one's back if their hands were full. Those kind of doors... and she peered through a window to see if there was anyone within, but she couldn't see anything but darkness. Slowly pushing the door open, she almost could sense the presence of another inside the room... hiding. Tapping into this new intuition that fear had given her... she began creeping up behind this person... and raise the katana as she neared them... an insatiable itch to kill entering her extremities.

The figure whirled around flashing light in her face, blinding Mysteh. “Mysteh??” The voice asked, shakily. Mysteh sighed, relieved, because it was the voice of her friend, Yami. “Hello, Yami... I'm so glad to hear you... do you have any idea what's going on?” Mysteh asked, and Yami nodded. “Yeah... some masked maniac came into the house, and announced Sin was among them, and tried attacking us with a concealed katana, and Jonny decided to fend him off, so we could escape. I hope hubby's fine...” She said, turning the flashlight upwards to illuminate the room.

Yami was a cute girl, about Jonny's age, dressed as a Christmas Elf, although it was Halloween. Maybe she was confused... or dropped on her head as a child. Either way, she was a good person to know. “Speaking of Jonathan...” Mysteh said, in a solemn voice. Yami looked worried. “...Jonathan? You never call him that unless you're scolding him, or being serious... whats wrong? Is he ok?” She asked, wringing her hands nervously.

Mysteh took out the scarf he always wore, and handed it to Yami. “It's Jonny's...” She said weakly. Yami forced a weak smile. “Did Jonny tell you to give it to me? Is this some sort of joke, and Jonny's hiding in a corner somewhere, waiting to pop out and laugh at me?” She asked, and Mysteh looked towards the ground. “I wish this was one of his stupid jokes, Yami, I really do...” She said, and Yami looked at the scarf closely. There were spots of bloodstains on it. “Oh my god... why...? We.. just got married... everything was just starting to go somewhere...! Why did he have to die? Why did I let him stay behind...?!” She cried, sobbing into the unstained part of Jonny's scarf.

“It still smells like him, too...” She managed to squeak out between sobs. Mysteh hugged her. “No, don't cry, Jonathan wouldn't want us crying, but to do whatever we could to not let his sacrifice go in vain.” She said, and Yami sniffled. “You're right... but what can we do?” Yami asks, and Mysteh points to an old wooden door in the corner of the kitchen. “Theres an old unused hallway over there, and at the end of the hallway, is a emergency cellar where Burtz has a backup generator and rations in case we lose electricity and stuff.” She said, and Yami nodded.

“By the way, do you have any weapons? I'd suggest you arm yourself, because this 'Sin' person isn't fooling around.” Mysteh said, and Yami nodded, reaching into her boot and unsheathing a rather large and vicious looking knife. “Jonny taught me to use this thing, and told me to keep it on me in case I got into a situation in which he couldn't help and I need to protect myself.” She said weakly, and Mysteh was semi-relieved... Yami was the last person she expected to have a large knife with her, so the fact Jonny told her to do that relieved her.

The two walked through the hallway, and at the end of the old musty hallway, was a single oaken door, the hinges rusted from disuse. “I'll need to use the flashlight, there's no lights down there...” She said, and Yami nodded, as Mysteh took the flashlight, clicked it on, and pointed it down into the dark of this cobweb infested basement. The stairs went down, and then turned down the the right... she she had no idea what might jump out at her as she descended down into the darkness... but she did have this ominous feeling that something was going to happen soon...

One Halloween's Eve
A Night To Forget
PART THREE

Mysteh turned to the right, light flashing around the room nervously to see what she feared was there. With a sigh though, there was nothing, thankfully. She cut the thick cobwebs with her katana, as she growled. “Damn maid must've never cleaned down here...” And then she ALMOST became regretful. “Oh yeah... she wont EVER clean again... that's inconvenient... maybe I'll hire a butler in stead of that damned Maid.” She mumbled to herself, cringing in thought of all the times she had walked in on Quatro and her doing unspeakable things.

As she flashed her flashlight over the musty walls, coated with a thick layer of dust, her light caught something metallic. A generator. Mysteh grinned as she walked over to it, and she found the can of gasoline and poured some into it, and kicked it on. It roared into use, but no lights in the outside hallway shone down the stairwell. Mysteh looked confused, so she looked at the fuse box, which she didn't even realize was in use. Shining her light over the fuses, all of them were cracked... it seemed that maniac had smashed them all in...

And looking to the ground, she saw the spare fuses, seemingly stomped to shards. This maniac was... obsessive at best... Mysteh thought as she shrugged. “It doesn't matter, the generator has a spare line that sends electricity to emergency lights which were sparsely spotted amongst the halls. Mysteh sighed. “At least I've shone some light on this matter... literally.” She said, as she approached the stairwell, and felt as if there was something wrong as she stepped foot on the first stair.

As she turned the corner to go up the stairs, she was greeted by a terrifying sight. Yami, who was guarding the door, was fighting ... the killer?? Mysteh looked on in terror, her limbs locking up. The maniac was naught but a gray blur to her eyes, it's movements to erratic. But, he was blocking swift lunges and slashes of Yami's knife with a katana of his own. Suddenly though, she lunged forward, seeing an opening. “THIS IS FOR JONNY!” She yelled, as she made contact.

But once the killer felt the steel tip near him, he deftly moved to the side, faster than she could move her arm. Yami's eyes shot open in fear, as she realized that she had made a horrible error. The maniac then stopped moving at an intense speed. Everyone seemed to slow down, as the maniac seemed to speed up. He wore a porcelain mask with two unfeeling and unblinking black eye slots. He moved to the side, where Mysteh couldn't see him, and Yami gasped. “What...?! That's who you are under the mas-s-s-s-s...” She began stammering, as she looked down, and realized that his katana had found it's sheath in her chest.

Mysteh felt a spray of warm blood hitting her face as her eyes froze in terror. The killer seemed to be staring at Mysteh over Yami's shoulder, and tilted his head in curiosity of her being there. Yami clawed at the blade desperately, to pull it from her chest, but she realized that there were no more sands of time left for her. She let her arms drop limp, and a cold laugh issued from behind the mask. Laughing, he lifted his boot to her stomach, and wrenched the blade from her, sending blood spraying over his gray cloak, and his white mask, and sent Yami toppling down the stairs, where Mysteh caught her.

Yami looked up at Mysteh with a weak smile, as Mysteh felt Yami's blood pouring into her arms. “At least... I'll be.. with Jonny now...” She said, with a small smile. Mysteh shook her. “Quiet, you're wasting your breath, save it, so you can live longer.” But the glow had left Yami's eyes yet she continued to speak as she looked on blankly at the ceiling. “Jonny... he always had a way... of being paranoid of the most random things in a subtle way... that made him seem like he wasn't crazy... because he really believed someday, he would need to leave something behind for someone...” She rasped.

“He told me, one day, Sin would appear, and would continue to become Sin. And he said one person would be the only one to vanquish him. I thought he was just sleeping... he had been laying in bed for so long, and he never takes off his scarf...” She said, pausing, heavy breath issuing from her mouth. “Down... in his room... he left something for that person... the one who'd vanquish Sin... that killer... the one who killed me... and Jonny... and who will stop at nothing to kill whomever he can lay his blade to.” She said, and then, her lifeless body shifted it's head to look at Mysteh with cold icy eyes. “You must be her.” She said, and Mysteh laid her down, closing Yami's eyes. How those eyes haunted her, pierced her soul... and seemed to follow her.

“YOU! You worthless piece of FILTH! Why are you doing THIS?!” Mysteh yelled, pointing to Yami. The man laughed roughly. “You STILL don't understand, Mysteh? Sad... You will though, I'll make sure you will... no matter how many bodies it will take. And I'll make sure to take your soul last.” He said, with a cruel laugh, exiting the doorway, his heavy footsteps echoing throughout the silent halls, his rough laughter scraping against her very soul.

Mysteh stood there, and looked to Yami. “I'm... sorry.” She said to her, taking her knife, and the sheath, and tucking it into her own boot, with a sigh. It was definitely Jonathan's knife... Mysteh thought to herself, because she had seen it on him before. As she left, she thought to herself about everything that had happened so far... the deaths... and her slowly darkening mind wandered to ... who would die next?

As the thought, her feet instinctively led her to Jonny's room. He lived in the old dungeon of the Mansion, that he had refurbished and re-did for his convenience. Staring at the door, it was a heavy looking mahogany, inset with steel. She grinned a bit, Jonny was always a weirdo. She remembered a morning she woke up early, around six in the morning.

“Jonny...? Why are you up so early? Usually I wake up early to do work... and here you are, cooking?” Mysteh laughed, approaching Jonny, who had his scarf down, and one eye was revealed, his hair hanging over his other. “The smell of a fresh untainted day always is great to wake to...” Jonny said, as he flipped the bacon he was making with his fork.

“Uh huh...” She said, pouring herself some coffee... it was already made? “Wait... did you make me some coffee?” She asked, and Jonny pulled off his entire scarf, and grinned. “Yeah, I know you wake up early to do work, I thought I'd save you some time, since I do wake up earlier than you.” He said, laying the scarf over a chair.

“Jonny... why have you hid your face for so long?” She asked. Few had ever seen his face... and even Yami had barely seen his face, and they had been married for a while. It bothered her, Mysteh thought, with a laugh, that she had seen his face more than she had. She had been the one to meet him in the streets of Gaia. He was walking about, looking almost a bit lost, and she saw his eyes, placid, taciturn... almost feelingless. She saw him, and immediately thought of him as a stray cat, alone in a dark street by himself. He was wearing a dark tuxedo, a pair of jeans, glasses, and a cat was sitting on his head, and he was reading a book at the time.

“Hey, you.” She said, stooping down to eye level. He was sitting down. He looked up from his book, eyes confused. “Hello...” He said, as he stood up, and straightened his tuxedo. Mysteh looked at him, and knew what he was about to do. “Hey, don't leave... you got a place to bunk?” She asked. He blinked. “You don't know my name... and you're offering me a room?” He said, and Mysteh smiled. “I'm Mysteh. You are...?” And he shook his head with a laugh. “Jonny. You're awfully trusty.” He said, and Mysteh nodded. “Jonny... short for Jonathan... Yes, but usually... it pays off.” She said, and Jonny shrugged, as she introduced him into a guild... a clan of sorts, a place that was like a family. He strove to become a part of this family, and eventually, became a big part of it.

And here he was now... Mysteh wondered at times what would've happened if she hadn't brought him to the mansion that one day... today though, this Halloween Eve, she knew what would've happened... he would've lived...

Mysteh shook off such thoughts, and pushed the door open. “Wow... Jonny must've known this day was coming...” She said to herself... because the room was lit. Lights were sitting all around, battery powered. Yami said there was something left behind in this room... to help her. Looking around, she saw many things, one of them, his coco, sitting on his bed. Seeing her, it stretched, and mewed at her.

Mysteh felt horrible for the poor animal... her master was dead... There was a note besides her though. Mysteh approached it and read it. “Take care of Shadow for me... she likes dry food with a layer of wet food on top. Like lasagna. Make sure to not feed her chicken flavored anything, she's primarily fish Take good care of her. ~Jonathan” the note read. She made sure to fold it perfectly, and tucked it away. He really knew that this was coming.

There was a large piece of paper with a doodle, and a smaller piece of paper underneath. The drawing showed a plate of bacon. Underneath, the paper read. “This is naught but a clue, and the clue will lead you to knowledge you need. Think... what does this picture mean?” And Mysteh was stumped. “Bacon...?” She thought.

“Bacon. Baconbaconbacon?” She thought, pacing around the room. Then, her eyes laid on a Master Chef Hat. “Jonny, you devil.” She said with a grin, lifting the hat from an end table, expecting something to be under it. “...I was wrong?” she asked herself. Then, she looked on the inside, and there was a key stitched into the inside, and she pulled it free. “A key... to what?” She asked. Jonny had put her a step ahead in the puzzle, and left her to guess.

Then she realized something out of place. Why was there a welcome mat on the INSIDE of his room? She walked over to it, and she realized there was something written above WELCOME and it read: YOU AREN'T. “Oh, what a joker.” Mysteh said to herself, rolling her eyes, as she tried lifting the mat. For some reason, it didn't budge. There were two large holes in the mat too... maybe handle ends go into them?

Looking around, under his pillow, there was the large handle. “Jonathan... I will NEVER understand what went on in your head... did you REALLY organize your room with various hidden objects that don't belong in anyway before we threw our little party, anticipating your painful death?” She said to herself, tasting the oddity of that all.

She pushed in the handle, and after pushing it in for a little while, a loud thunk noise emanated from the welcome mat. “Uhm...?” she said, pulling on the handle, but didn't put enough strength into it. There was something IN the ground in a hollow compartment that was incredibly HEAVY. “Jonathan... at your funeral, I will make sure to include your little after-death shenanigans in my speech...” She said, putting more effort into the pull, and lifting a ... safe out of the compartment!

“What the bloody hell, Jonny?! How random do you get!” She said, dropping it. Panting, she flipped it over, to put the key in the safes keyhole. Turning the key, she opened the door. Inside, it was completely empty, except there was a tape... and behind it, there was a six-shot revolver. There was a sticky note on the hand gun, and it read: “There's one shot, you'll know where the bullet belongs.” it said, and on the VHS tape, the label read: “TRUTH” and Mysteh thought... there was one place where the emergency generator still powered, even with all the fuses and power lines cut. The Security Hub... where the Mansion was monitored by cameras, and then she'd learn the truth that Jonny had left behind...

One Halloween's Eve:
A Night to Forget
PART FOUR

Mysteh left, and ventured through the Mansion... the Central Security Hub was something very few people knew about, and the group was limited to the crew and they weren't allowed to say a thing to any non-crew members. It was located directly behind Burton's suite, in a secret room. She began off towards the room, looking at the tape. It was written in his handwriting... in sharpie, across the label. “TRUTH” it read, plain and simply. She wondered what this “TRUTH” held... and how it pertained to her...

As she walked through the room that was besides Burtz', Mysteh heard the shuddering drawing of breath in the dark of a hallway. It was a female's voice, and it was giggling. “Oh, the bloodshed...” It muttered from the shadows. Mysteh flicked on the flashlight, and shone it on where the voice was coming from. There was Quatro, sitting there, with the masked maniac whispering into her ear, and laughing. “Oh, hello Mysteh, darling. I was just helping your friend here... she's been quite traumatized by the recent events... I'm helping her... relieve herself of the memories.” he said, cutting across Quatro's arm with a razor blade. Quatro sighed in pleasure. “Yesss, that's it...” She said, dripping her blood onto her skirt. Her already crimson clothing was stained a sickly burgundy as she let her blood run over herself.

“What are you talking about, you b*****d!” Mysteh exclaimed, unsheathing her katana. The Maniac laughed. “Now now, didn't your mother tell you violence is bad?” He said, pointing his arm to the corner of the room. “Your friend put up an amiable fight. I've never seen a man who could take so many cuts. He was determined to stop me...” He said, and Mysteh shined the light over to where he pointed. Rob laid there, in his Halloween costume, garbed in women's clothing.

He was torn asunder, gashes adorning his skin like sickly ornaments, as he stared up from a pool of his own blood. Mysteh gasped, and began stammering. “R-r-r-obbeh...?” She stammered, her blade lowering. “It was a grand fight... he had quite the spirit... maybe you should look at the security camera, in the Security Hub you're going to. Too bad you won't be able to get into Burtz' room, since I kinda ripped the doorknob off...” He said, and Mysteh could practically hear his insidious smile that was under the porcelain mask, the mark of his cold unfeeling white sin.

“How I tortured him. He, after a while, couldn't fight anymore... such a fighter... never seen one of his kind... he's akin to me... although different... he refused to kill... but had the warrior's spirit... instinct. He made a warrior's pact with me. In exchange of his life, I would spare this one... she, apparently, was the only one he could find, and he decided as she was the only person he could find, he would protect her with his life. What a man, he was. He was almost like Jonathan, but Jonathan wasn't as fierce a fighter, but he would kill... I could taste his intent to kill me. He was like me, hiding behind his sins with a crimson cloth, crimson as the blood he spilled. Too bad Jonathan understood he didn't stand a chance against me... he was such a high caliber swordsman, yet he had not the drive to fight. He knew he wasn't the one to kill me. So he died, to apparently preserve the lives of others... how he died in vain...” The Maniac said with a laugh, as he cut across her arm again, slitting the surface, letting the blood run.

Mysteh took a menacing step towards him. “Touch her again and I'll kill you myself.” She growled, as the insatiable itch to kill crept up her arms again. The Maniac sensed this intent. “Hm. It seems you've taken a step to becoming me, Sin... you've killed someone, have you? And you enjoyed it.” He said, laughing, dropping the razor into Quatro's lap, as she smiled like a small child given candy as she began to slit her skin with sighs and shivers running down her spine.

“No, I'm nothing like you, you piece of garbage.” Mysteh growled, and the man tilted his head and laughed. “You have no idea how similar we are, Mysteh. We're killers, given life to take life. Hopefully soon, you'll understand. I can't kill you yet... not can you kill me, either. I still have others I need to kill, too.” He said, with another of his audible smiles, where he spoke in a tone where you could hear his smile, so to speak.

“NO, I AM NOT A KILLER!” Mysteh roared, in a fury she never realized she had in her soul. She began to visualize herself inflicting such pain unto him, and crushing his goddamned mask and spitting on his face. “Yet you desire nothing more to kill me and see me bleed.” He said, laughing. Mysteh was silent, she was fed up with his s**t. Raising the blade, she readied herself to fight. He unsheathed his blade as well. “Oh well... maybe I WILL kill you before the others, after all.” He said with another rough laugh. Mysteh flicked off the flashlight, and decided to fight by the light of the emergency light above them, as she placed both hands on the katana handle, mimicking how she had seen Jonny train before.

“Personally, I think not.” A blasé man's voice said, the tapping of a cane in the dark, and the crimson glow of a pendant illuminating the face of the founder of the Mansion, Burton himself. Accompanying himm, was Blankey, and Rassie. Blankey was cracking her knuckles, ready to belt out furious rounds of punches if the need be. Rassie was brandishing a bat, and was tapping it against the palm of her hand, and Burtz had tucked away his leather bound book into his suit jacket, and placed a hand on his cane, unsheathing a blade. “Love, leave this room, and take a left... tap on the wall three times and kick the foundation underneath the painting of the mansion hanging in the hallway... it will lead into my suite, and from there, you can get to the Hub.” He said, in a very nonchalant tone.

“Wait, how did you know? How the feck does EVERYONE know where I'm going?” Mysteh asked, a little frustrated. Burtz coughed. “Well, Yami told me about what Jonny had done, assuming I was the 'one' to vanquish this maniac... apparently named 'Sin.' But, when we got to his room, the door refused to open... Jonny must've did something that made it so only the right person could enter, so only they could get their hands on whatever he had left behind... and Rob told me that Jonny had been working on some secretive tape of sorts, on some 'research' he had done, according to what Rob told me before today. So when Yami told me, I put the pieces together... and I assumed you are the 'one' and that you'll end up killing this sadistic p***k, upon learning whatever the tape has to offer.” He said, and Mysteh nodded, as she turned and ran from the room.

The maniac took a step forward to pursue her, but the three all brandished their weapons to stop him. In the background, there was a gurgling noise. Sin turned around. “Aw, isn't that cute... she loved the pain so much, she slit her own throat... well, I held my promise to Rob, only on terms of not killing her myself. I just showed her the pleasure of taking it yourself.” He said with a laugh, and Burtz' eyes shot open. “What?! You'll pay for this...” He said, as the four clashed in a vicious battle.

Mysteh found the painting that Burtz had mentioned... but she feared for them... wasn't she the only one who could kill Sin? Then won't they all die...? But she shook off the thought... if she hurried, then she would be able to learn the truth, and kill Sin. Tapping three times, and kicking the foundation, the wall slid open, and although Burtz said it would lead into his suite, it lead her directly into the Hub. Rushing over to the console, she saw two tapes playing over and over. One was the battle between Jonathan ... and Rob. Rob was lunging at him viciously, fast and furious, with large knives in both hands, parrying blade strokes of the maniacs, but inevitably, the maniac landed a blow, and the battle for Rob was over from there. The maniac had set the pace, and was killing Rob slowly, cutting lightly, as he eventually Rob collapsed, and Sin inserted his blade into him, over and over, avoiding vitals to preserve his life. After a while, some dialog was exchanged, and eventually, Rob smiled, and Sin plunged his blade into Rob's spine, and Rob's eyes shot open as his body was shook by a serious of seizures, for his spine was being cut by the blade, and then, Sin twisted the blade, and Mysteh cringed, for she could've swore, although there was no volume on this console, she could hear the crunch, as Rob was left living, but unfeeling as the feeling left his body.

The other video, was a incredibly fast paced battle between Jonathan and Sin. The flashes of steel were almost impossible to follow, as the two dodged and weaved, and threw a few more slashes, dancing a deadly dance of death. Eventually though, Jonathan almost landed a blow, but Sin sidestepped before the tip met skin, and with a vicious elbow, he sent Jonny reeling, as he took his own blade and plunged it deep into his back as a counter.

Mysteh couldn't bear watching her friends die over and over, so she pushed in the tape, and hit play...

One Halloween's Eve
A Night To Forget
PART FIVE

Mysteh hit play, and pressed a button, causing the console to display the video on every television, blocking out the killings of her friends. Suddenly, Jonathan come on every one of the monitors. At first, it showed just his chest... he was adjusting the camera on a tripod of sorts. Then, he sat down at a stool. With a sigh, he began unwrapping his face. “Hello there... Mysteh. If you're watching this... I'm dead.” Jonny sighed again. “As I began to delve into this legend... I realized I am the first to die... and regardless of what I do, I will remain the first to lose my life.” He said, his usually dull blue eyes sharp with pain.

“Figures, you know... I have to lose it all once life finally got good. I have you to thank for that, though. Thanks, Mysteh. That day in the streets... It meant a lot to me... and I don't think I ever truly conveyed how much it meant to me, that someone would shelter me, without a word of assurance.” Jonathan said, and this tore at Mysteh's heart. Jonny paused though, staring at the camera, and then sighed yet again.

“Now... onto this... legend. I came upon it, one day I was in the library with Rob and Hasel... Rob was writing something, and Hasel was painting a landscape of the outside through the window... and suddenly, this odd book caught my eye.” He said, and he reached offscreen, and lifted a book onscreen. It was bulky, covered in an aged leather, a ruby studding the spine. He turned it to the front, so the camera could see it.

The front cover, had some strange writing on it that Mysteh couldn't quite make out. They were odd... almost arcane. Jonny looked at it, running his finger over it. “See... it's odd... because only I can read this... Rob couldn't, nor could Hasel. Rob told me it was a relic Burtz had bought because it looked cool and all, althought it couldn't be read... but I could. What was within... disturbed me. It pertained to me... but in turn, involves you, Mysteh.” Jonny said, sitting in his room.

“In this legend... it describes some story, I thought at first... but as I became absorbed in it, and interested, I began to realize how much it was EXACTLY like the Mansion, and how the main character was like me... and how he was like me was that ... he was an Oracle... the one who kept his sight obscured from the harsh reality of the world... and kept the world from seeing him. This began to give him a sight beyond sight... and it allowed him, ONCE, to see into the future... and he foresaw a massacre... by the incarnation of Sin on Hallow's Eve. He tried to stop it... rather, he tried to give the Hero... Heroine, I should say... time to figure out the situation, but sent her away before Sin took form in the Mansion, so she could evade him for the time being, so she'd live on to vanquish it after a while...” Jonny said.

“It so eerie...” Jonny said, as he read the pages again. “It depicts all the people of the Mansion... and it scares me... to think what will happen... He wrote it all as he foresaw it... and he even kept writing it till the very moment he was killed...” He said, turning the book around, showing a page stained with blood.

“The book described you... in personality, yet, not in appearance. I can only hope that you ARE the one to kill Sin... the incarnation of someone within the Mansion's Sin. I will never know the truth of who's Sin it is... until the very last moment in my life... and I wish I could tell you... because, like the Oracle of this book... he knew as well... and his writing this book, has made me an oracle of sorts... knowing the future. But, also, in the book... it said, the oracle saw the heroine wielding a sliver of moonlight, and dueling Sin with it, eventually besting him, and finishing him with a blast of fire and thunder that could pierce the mountains. I interpreted this as my blade and a handgun, so I bought a Magnum, and loaded it with one bullet.” Jonny said.

“The Oracle also wrote... that everyone would have to die before you could conquer Sin... He wrote that the Heroine would only understand how Sin could be killed once she understood Sin. Sin would only be understandable once everyone died... and the Heroine must die to conquer Sin... but it makes no sense... because it read that Sin could only be killed once everyone died, including you, Mysteh... Who knows... I've informed you of the truth... now you must head out, and understand Sin...” Jonny said, and there was a knocking at his door. “Jonnyyyyy~ Are you in here??? Come out Hubby!” Yami called cheerily. Jonny looked at the ground. “The pain I'll cause my poor wife... I would've never married her if I knew I'd break her heart by dying...” Jonny said, wrapping his face, and shutting off the camera, but before the camera cut off, Mysteh heard a final word. “Thanks.”

Mysteh was choking up. Did everyone really have to die?? She thought, as she rushed from the Hub to check up on the three who had kept Sin from killing her. As she rushed to the hallway, Burtz was sitting down, and Rassy and Blankey were laying face down, Sin nowhere to be found. “Burt...ron?” Mysteh said, crouching down in front of him. His pendant was flickering, the light faltering from it. The pendants... when activated, Burtz told her once, the glow reflects the power of your soul, and once it begins to falter... it means that the soul is about to leave the body, meaning death was near. Mysteh shined the light on him, and he was cut at the top of his chest, and blood was flowing down his chest.

“Oh, hello love.” Burtz said, in his blasé tone, like always. Even the face of death didn't phaze him. “Are you ok?! What happened to the others?” She said, and Burtz sighed. “They're dead... Sin... is quite the fighter... he's ... too strong, really...” He said, spitting a mouthful of blood onto the floor, refusing to show any weakness by coughing it up. “Where's Hasel, and Vixey? Solembum? And OldHag? Where are they?! They're the last people who hung around for Halloween!” Mysteh exclaimed, shaking his shoulders... they both knew his time was up.

“I have.. no idea...” He said, spitting more blood onto the floor. He sighed. “This... is one day that will always taint the mansion walls... I can see it... Mysteh, be careful... and please, don't use that gun, I... beg... you...” He said, as his pendant went out, his eyes lowered and he slumped against the wall, and Mysteh stood among more dead comrades.

This was tearing her apart, and she fished around in her pockets, and retrieved the Magnum, a high powered revolver... and placed it to her head. “I... can't take this anymore...” She whimpered, as tears ran down her face, thinking of all the death she had seen. All the dead cold eyes she had seen, because it was her fault... she couldn't take it anymore. She wanted to pull the trigger so badly... to end it all now. To not have to see anyone die anymore, and to join the ranks of the dead. She was tired of playing hero.

She felt a hand on her shoulder. “Now now, that's a cowards way out. If you die now, the world's going to suffer from Sin.” A familiar voice said, and she turned, and Jonny was standing there, his face exposed. Yami stood besides him. “Yeah, he's right! Don't let use die in vain, protecting you, for you to die by your own hand! We died because we believed in you!” She exclaimed. “She's right... we all died because we know you'll be the one to end Sin.” Rob said, leaning against the wall. “I'd hate to admit it... but you will, I know it.” Quatro said, from her seat in the room, eyes averted from Mysteh. Blankey and Rassie rolled over from the floor, and looked up at Mysteh. “C'mon, open up a can of whoop-a**. Take that p***k down, since we couldn't. Prove to us that you're OUR vice-captain.” Blankey said with a grin, taking a drag from her ciggarette. Rassie nodded, as she pushed up her helm, to show her eyes. “Do it, Wifey, I know you won't let us down.” She said, with a playful grin.

“Keep us from dying in vain.” Burtz said, from his seat. The maid walked in. “And I'll clean up the mess you make of him, as well.” She said, and Mysteh was shuddering, as the air chilled, and her breath came in clouds. “Avenge us.” They all said in unison, and then, suddenly, a bright flash blinded Mysteh, and she saw, and heard nothing else.

She stood back in the hallway. “What the hell... I must be going through dementia...” She said, as she rubbed her head, tucked the gun away, and walked through the hallways, searching for where the last of the Mansion residents were... wherever they were... Sin would be... and once they died... she could kill Sin... which was her ultimate purpose.

Soon, this twisted story would be coming to an end... how happy that made her... and that gave her the drive to keep moving.

One Halloween's Eve
A Night To Forget
PART SIX

Mysteh rushed through the mansion, her breath heavy, in the hot air, rank with the stench of blood. The whole mansion... all she could smell was blood. The pungant stench... would never leave the poor woman, as she rushed through the Mansion in hopes of finding Hasel or Vixey, she'd be able to find them quicker.

As she rushed through, she heard that laughter of Sin ringing out through the darkened hallways, and her hand clenched around the katana handle. As she ran down the hallway, she stopped, as a specter floated by.

It was Jonny, ethereal, and soaked in blood, reading a book. Mysteh stopped, and was shocked. What in holy name of Suggah was going on?! She then saw Yami tagging closely behind Jonny, wondering what he was reading, as she opened her mouth, uttering words the living couldn't hear.

Then, all the lost spirits of the mansion began floating around the mansion, as if they had never died, bearing the wounds of their frail mortality that had been granted to them by Sin. "What is this... madness!?" Mysteh said, as she tumbled backwards, and running for the Gallery, where she hoped she could find Hasel, and maybe some sanctuary.

Running as fast as she could, she found her way up to there, and saw Hasel painting, serenely, as if nothing had ever happened this Halloween. Mysteh sighed in relief. "Ahhh, Hasel... it's so nice to see you're alive..." She said, and Hasel laughed sweetly.

"Indeed... it is..." She said, with an almost wicked tone, as she turned to show, that in her hands, was a long slim sword, akin to that of fencers.

"Hasel, are you ok...?" Mysteh asked, wearily, as Hasel laughed in a terrible fashion.

PART SIX...
IS CONTINUED.

Mysteh stumbled backwards. "Hasel, please... put that down, I don't want either of us to get hurt..." She said, in a quiet tone, as Hasel twirled the blade's pommel in her hand, as she looked to the blade. "What has he done to you...?" Mysteh whispered softly, holding her hand to her chest, where her pendant was glowing, and pulsating slowly... warmly.

Hasel's eyes wandered to that pendant, as she retrieved a simple wicker chair, and sat down in it, crossing her legs, as she placed the cold steel against her legs, exposed by a skirt.

She smiled, cruelly, exposing white teeth. "I was shown what... Sin is like." She said, blinking slowly, tilting her head back, with a deep sigh. "Sin... is so... intense. The passion, the excitement... it's enthralling." She said, running her hands from her face to her neck, resting his lithe hands there.

"I have power... and skills I never would've expected... all for my soul, and accepting Sin." She said, as she stood, thrusting the blade into the carpet flooring. She turned, and dipped her paintbrush into a pallet, stained with blood.

Mysteh looked at the barefoot artist. This wasn't the Hasel the Mansion knew... her Hasel was kind, and had a love for life, and was filled with purity. Now, she had allowed herself to be tainted with eternal sin, and life without soul.

"Hasel!? What have you done?! You gave up everything that a painter needs to portray life!" Mysteh exlaimed, in a sudden fit of anger, that surprised herself. "You gave up your soul, your purity... you gave yorself in to Sin!" Mysteh exclaimed, tightening her grip on the katana bearing the stains of Jonny's mortality.

Soft laughter that once carried tones of Hasel's happiness, now bore tones of tense malice. "What do you know of true art... I desire to be the next great artist of this era! Before, I could only do so much... now, I can do anything... it's so natural now... it's as if willing it to happen creates it to appear on the canvas..." She said, as she turned back to her canvas, and begin painting furiously, as she paused, and threw down the paintbrush, and grasped the hilt of her slim blade.

"Let's see if I can will my hands... to create death through the art of my blade." She said, with a smile that threw Mysteh off of her guard. Suddenly, with a dash, Hasel was already at Mysteh's feet, blade clashed with her curved katana.

"Oh, Mysteh, please don't tell me that this is the best you can do, Mysteh..." She said, as she drove a knee into her gut, and threw her back, from the clash.

All of the air escaped Mysteh, as she was thrown back. Immediately, she fell to her knees, and began gasping for air, as her head met the soft plush carpeting. Mysteh had never brandished a blade in her defense before... how could she win...?

Suddenly, she could smell smoke besides her. Cigarette smoke...

She turned to the left. There sat Blankey, and Jonny. Blankey had retrieved two cigarettes, handing one towards Jonny, which he placed between his lips, as Blankey had lit one for herself, and Jonny leaned over, as she lit his. "Thanks." He said, tipping his crimson hat, and she shrugged.

"Just quit losing your lighter, ya leech..." She said, and he grinned. Mysteh, her vision blurred, saw her two dead companions... but they were different than usual... their outfits, different, as well as their hair. Jonny had cut his short, and had grown out his sideburns, as well as had finally exposed his full face, a blase look on his face, a pair of thin black shades on his face. He wore a long crimson robe, with a black tux underneath, sporting a black tie with a golden clasp inscribed with a crimson three-leaf clover.

"Jonny... Blankey?" Mysteh asked, and the two looked to her. "Yeah? Well, you need help, don't you? That's why we're here, silly." Jonny chuckled, and Blankey nodded. "Jonny knows his way with a blade, and I know how to kick people's heads in better than anyone else." She said with a grin, as she cracked her neck with a roguish grin.

"And Hasel... unfortunately... fell into Sin's trap." She added, with a sigh, taking a drag from her cigarette. Mysteh wheezed out a response. "What...?" She asked, and Jonny frowned at the artist.

"Sin, just as he was to kill each of us, gave us the chance to survive... if only we would forever give into Sin, and forsake our soul, and humanity for whatever we could ever desire." Jonny said, a look of sadness enter his eyes.

"I think... Hasel gave in, because she wasn't ready to die. She had ambitions, that she still desired to fufill. And just about the rest of us were already too content, or too cocky to be inclined to accept." He said with a laugh.

The two seemed so clear, unlike before... before, they seemed mist-like, and transcluesent, like in a dream. "Aren't you...?" She panted.

"Yes... we are." Blankey said, as she looked around the Mansion. "We all didn't want to die... but we did... we wandered for a short time to you... but it felt like forever for us... it was horrible. Every minute was like dying all over again. We were restless, we didn't want to believe our death. We all kept going back to our bodies, and staring at them..." She said, pausing, staring at the floor.

"It was a trip... seeing your own body, cold and lifeless on the floor, your blood pooled around you. We all tried to re-enact our day to day lives, but something didn't feel right. We were dead. It took a long time, but we accepted it. We're dead. We're here to help." Blankey said, with a smile, as she stood, and extended a hand to Mysteh.

Mysteh smiled, as she felt her lungs refill to capacity, as Jonny helped her up by lifting her by propping her under his shoulder as Blankey lifted her to her feet.

"Here's your blade. Let us show you how you can overcome this threat..." Jonny said, and Mysteh nodded, as the two stood besides her, and Jonny handed her the katana.

"Hasel... I'm setting you free." Mysteh said, solemnly, with rock solid conviction. Hasel turned about, taking up her blade again. "Girl, do you know what sort of power you're trifling with-" She began, but suddenly, Mysteh was at a blade's length, tip raised to her neck, and her eyes posessed with a stolidness that caused Hasel's eyes to narrow.

"Ghosts hide within you... driving your blade." She said, as she brought up her sword swiftly, to knock Mysteh's aside, and drew back her arm and thrust her blade at Mysteh.

As this happened, Blankey, who stood besides Mysteh, in same stance as her, took over her body. Jumping to the left agiley, Blankey launched a kick to Hasel's face. Hasel, in response, tilted her head out of the way, and readied herself for a second strike. Slashing to the left, where Mysteh stood, Blankey grimmaced.

"b***h! I didn't expect her to dodge that... Mysteh, I hope you're flexible!" She said, with a grin, as she in a feat of agility, began to attempt a cartwheel, out of the way, she she shifted all of the weight

"OH GOOD LORD!" Mysteh yelled out, as she heard Blankey's laughter, as she landed the cartwheel. "Having fun yet?" Blankey asked, and Mysteh shook her head. "No, life or death fights do not fall under my classfication of extracurricular activities." She said, with a sarcastic bite.

"Here I come!" Hasel exclaimed, as Mysteh's focus turned back to see Hasel rushing at her, with blade raised, and ready to kill. Mysteh began to assimilate into her thoughts, the directions of the two battle-ready Mansion Go'ers.
