The joy of having your family reunited at last was immense; The pain of not fitting back into it was greater.
Bakari felt his legs give out as he flopped on the shore of a small pond in the vast forest that was his pride's home. The adolescent could feel the sensations of unity vibrating throughout the territory, and yet he felt as though he couldn't belong. What had happened to him? Riku returned, he had no reason to feel depressed. Glancing into the clear waters, he peered at the scar that reminded him of his little clash with Moyo's 'mate'. Now, he felt like killing himself for getting into that fight; He was blinded by fury, he didn't know what he was doing!
Baki began picking at the scar with a claw, curious to see if it had healed over. All of a sudden, he yelped, feeling it hit a nerve. He then noticed it was bleeding. "Great," he muttered, and stood up-- or at least tried to. When was the last time he'd eaten? He shoved himself up, before feeling his legs give out once more. He slowly let out an exhale, feeling a tear roll down one of his golden, tufty cheeks. Glancing up with sad, dim eyes at the rock wall that towered in the distance, looming over the lush jungles, already did Bakari feel like an outsider..

((^ ^;;; I'm sorry to interrupt the RP, you two, but I believe there's been a misunderstanding. The Unity Walkers' Jungle is not the same one as the other subforum, and the valley that the pride lives in is hidden within something like a canyon wall. Only members are allowed to freely come and go within said wall.))

Latifu had keepen herself busy these past many moons, but there was a tugging at her heart to go visit her old friend, Bakari. Well, a friend if you considered them fighting all the time, but he was really the only one that Latifu really befriended all her life.
And thus, she found herself nearing the jungle where she ran into him a couple times. Would she see him now? Or was he even living here anymore? It was hard for her to tell. Scents were all around, and since she had not seen Bakari for a while, it was hard to remember exactly how his scent was.
"Hmph, maybe not." Latifu grumbled, the fur on the back of her neck rising in frusteration. Why was she even looking for him, anyway? For all she knew, he could of....he could of already found someone, and be long gone from here. Would serve her right, always being too stubborn to say what needed to be said.

The adult flopped a paw in the water, twirling it around. He felt so alone... What if his only friend, Latifu, had found somebody? Bakari could never see him and his companion becoming mates, anyways... right?
Just then, a new scent had drifted into his nostrils. It was faint, but it was unfamiliar nonetheless. What if it was a predator? Bakari would be unable to defend himself, let alone stand up all the way. However, the lion stood up, feeling his joints ready to give out again. "Oh man.. where's Riku.." he said to himself, and began to follow the scent trail.
It was before long that he was nearing the edge of the jungle. The scent was very strong now, and this make Baki nervous. This predator could kill him in the weakened state he was in right now, it was scary. As the male began to press on, he felt his legs suddenly turn to jelly and give out. He met the earth with a painful landing, having hit his forehead on a large tree root. Bakari was out like a light.

The teal lioness' ears rolled back as she heard a deep 'thump'. Obviously something hard had slammed onto the earth...what the hell was it?
Latifu sighed, slowly decided to check it out. She was a little curious, but she also just wanted to get out of here before she ran into Bakari. That would just be...awk...ward...
Her eyes opened wide when she saw Bakari, knocked out cold, on the earth.
"Bakari? What are you doing, you fool?" she grumbled, padding over to him to poke his body. What'd he done now? Weak as ever, she thought. Wonder if he played too rough with another.

The poke to his ribs jolted the male awake. "Oooargh..." groaned the male, putting a paw over his face. "My head.." He dropped it, trying to sit up. Once his vision became clear, the male's eyes focused on the lioness in front of him. "L-LATIFU!!?" he yelled, scrambling backwards.
The adult male quickly hid the scarred side of his face with his mane. "Wh-why are you h-here?" he asked quietly, feeling very shy all of a sudden. He could feel the faint trickle of blood from his scar falling down his cheek. What would Latifu say to him? She probably didn't even want to see him anymore; What if she was saying goodbye to him? "L-latifu... I want to tell you something," he said, looking at her straight in the eyes, even if one of his was scarred for her to see.

Latifu was a little worried about it. But it soon ebbed when he screamed out her name in front of her. What the hell? She uh...wasn't deaf, yanno. Still young and all that good stuff.
She quirked an eyebrow, interested at all his slurred speach. "Oh? Am I not allowed here? I was just looking for you, that's all." She said cooly, but let her voice fall silent when he mentioned wanting to tell her something. Oh great, probably the bad news that she didn't want to hear. She hid her sigh, and swallowed up any words that she might make him eat before hand. Gotta keep calm.

Bakari gave a shaky exhale, before turning away slightly. "Well.. Riku was kidnapped when you and I were kids.. and it really changed me. Not in a way that could be fixed, but a way that was always going to be like an open wound.." He paused to wipe some drops of blood away, smearing it on his fur.
"And when he came back, I thought my troubles would be over.. but he had brought a family.. and then our parents had had another litter.. I felt like everyone was having a successful life but me.. even my baby sister has a mate now!" he cried out, looking to Latifu. He stared for a moment, before looking to the ground. "So I hide in these jungles.. I can't stand all the togetherness. This.. this unity pride is what's got me going mad. I can't even keep myself alive.." the male sighed, before glancing up at her with lilac eyes. "But Latifu... even if I somehow can't live any longer because of being alone, and because I'm past the point of no return.. I... I just want you to know.."
The male felt his face grow hot. "I love you, Latifu. I don't know how else to put it.. I'm not a genius with words, nor do I want to be. I only want to be with you. You're the one reason I keep myself alive; Without you in my life, I'd be nothing but a statue of depression and pain... Do... do you understand?"

Latifu silently listened to him, to everything that he was complaining about. And though he was highly upset by all this, she was irritated by one thing: at least he had family. Latifu had never had family. Hell, the only real friend she had was Bakari, and she barely ever saw him when growing up.
Blowing up at him at this moment wouldn't get anything done, though. Hell, it'd probably make things works. Containing most of her anger, she was just about to let him have it- when he totally just blew her out of the water.
Love? Love?! What....the hell. This was a little too much for Latifu to handle. And so she....sorta lost it.
"...what the hell, Bakari? You know that I don't have an ounce of family, and here you are bitching about yours? You should be supportive of them, instead of getting yourself down for what you haven't done. You're still young, and let the gods damn it, you had me!" A flash of pale teal zipped behind her, her tail lashing a bit with her anger.
She looked away from him, not wanting to see that she had begun to cry. "Gods....damn it all...you think I want you dragging yourself so down?" She took a moment to swallow a sob, not wanting him to hear her crying at all. "You couldn't...keep your chin up....for me?"

Bakari had expected plenty of emotions, but.. anger?! That was a new one to him. Although, her anger reminded him of her days as a cub, when she'd use that as energy for play-fighting with him.
Suddenly the male flinched as he saw her turn away; Were those tears he saw? He made her cry? "L-latifu?" he asked quietly, getting up to pad towards her. Her words hit him like arrows into a target, but he managed to sit close to her, and leaned his head onto hers a bit. "I'm sorry, Latifu... please, don't cry." He put a paw to her face, carefully and gently wiping a tear away. He felt his body ready to give out once more, but he wouldn't it now; Not in front of her.
"Latifu... I know.. I'm not perfect.. you're not, either. But I can't remain so happy, especially when my only friend is gone!" He looked down at the ground, before sighing softly. "None of us can have what we want... I realize now I shouldn't have spoken so ill of something you don't have..." He paused to tilt her head to his with his paw. "But... I want to be your family." He tried to manage a smile.

Latifu scowled a bit when he doted over her tears. Tears were for weak women, not strong ones like her. She hated it, hated feeling weak.
"..I never claimed in being perfect. But still...I just..." her words drifted off as she blinked back the last of the tears, still a little misery hanging over her head. Quickly though, she blinked as Bakari brought up her head. She took in the words he spoke without blinking...and then couldn't help but stifle a laugh. He said that now? Wow, took him long enough!

Bakari tilted her head at her snickering, before smiling devilishly. "Is that a smile I see apon the lovely lady's face?" he teased, nudging Latifu gently. "Or is it my good looks that's causing you to laugh?" He stepped back from her, standing tall. That is, before he collapsed.
The adult felt his head throbbing, and his vision getting blurry. "O-ow..." he muttered, clutching his head with his paws. He peered from behind them at Latifu; what would she do? She probably would think he was acting, judging by the antics he pulled a few seconds ago.

The teal lioness huffed a bit at his reply. "No...no it's not. You're just imagining it." She pulled her head away from him, trying to get back her normally seriousl look. Little did she know...
She glanced back to see Bakari in some sort of pain. Was he faking it? Or was he telling the truth earlier, and this stupid depression was really taking a toll on him? She huffed again, but this time with more concern. "Bakari..." she started, "When was the last time you ate something?"

The blond male sheepishly smiled at her, before pausing, and then moaning, "E-erm... about... 5 days ago?" He gave her a smile, even though his tired look really told the truth.
Bakari tried to sit up. "I-it's fine, though.. I'll be alright.." he said, using what was left of his energy to shove himself onto all fours again. Poor thing's vision was getting blurrier and blurrier until he could see the outline of Latifu.
