Description

The palace of Nitar has many halls and passageways (yes even secret ones!), so many it can be a real maze to newcomers. And all halls look the same, with their high ceiling, large windows and balconies, white marble, purple and red carpets or rugs and many paintings on the wall. There are always servants running about, with food, laundry or with important messages. You hardly ever walk alone! Especially on the lower flower you don't. A hall would be nothing without entrances to other rooms. There are many doors on each side, which can sometimes give you a clue of what the room is all about. All doors are made of hard wood and many of them have carvings in them (e.g.: the kitchen has a scene of cooks and aids baking pastries and roasting game carved in the door). One does not only find doors, there are also stairs, broad stairs that lead you to different floors. Occasionally there is a stair hidden behind a door, this means it is a rather private place and not just anyone can enter. Sometimes these doors are locked then.

Map

Ever felt you needed a map to find your way around the palace? Well I will give you the positions of a few rooms so they are (hopefully) easier to be found in the future.

Main Floor:

-Main hall is the large hall you cannot mliss if you go through the main entrance. At the end of the hall is the infamous throne room. Around the throne room there are smaller passageways as well, that form broader halls at each exit of the throne room.

-The throne can be considered as a large squared isle surrounded by paths. Each side of the throne room leads to broad stairs, directing you to the North, East, South and West wing of the palace.

-The kitchen is in the East Wing, providing the cooks enough light but not the heat of midday's sun.

-The library is in the South wing, it is a large room filled with racks and thousands of books. It also has a few corners with comfy chairs and nice tables where you can relax and read your book.

-Each wing has three levels, the main one and then two higher ones. The towers have more levels but no halls, just rooms. The centre of the castle has a basement with prisons.

East Wing:

The Imperial family claims the entire East Wing.

-On the first level, when you go up the stairs and then follow the hall on your right hand you will find a door at the very end of the hall, which is for the Empress and Emperor. There are statues by the door and carvings in the wood. The other doors in the hallway are personal libraries, bathrooms, salons and so on.

-The children have the entire second floor of the East Wing to themselves.

South Wing

The South Wing is meant for guests, of all classes and ranks.

-The South Wing is more a maze of halls than the other wings. There are many rooms, over fifty rooms on both floors. Each roomdoor has its own special carving, a way to remember where you sleep. Due to lack of windows in some of these halls (because it wasn't possible to make any there) there are torches on the wall to lighten the place.

West Wing

The West Wing is used for serene recreation.
It has another library, a larger room with fireplace and soft rugs and comfortable chairs to sit on, as you watch the sunset through the window.

North Wing

The North Wing isn't often used by nobles. There isn't much sunlight so they need torches.

-The servantquarters are situated there, on both floors with public bathrooms and more.

Note: Nearly every room has a fireplace and at least one window.

Yasmine was skipping merrily through the halls of her home.

She was stopped by a servant, informing her that she was to attend dinner in the Imperial Dining Room, and that there were guests to entertain.

Faye-Lin wandered through the palace halls. Her two brothers had already arrived, Deilin was downstairs with two of the guests and mother and father couldn't be disturbed this evening. Which meant only Lilai and Thalia remained, and of course their other uninvited guests. But as far as she was concerned, all of the guests were unannounced and therefore uninvited. She decided to go to this male bloke first. Faye-Lin walked down the hall until she reached the man's door. After taking a deep breath, she knocked on it. "Sir? Hello?"

Thalia looked up as someone knocked on a door. Not far from her stood her youngest sister. "Hey Faye-Lin, what are you doing in the guest hall? Visiting a mystery lover?" She asked with a wide grin on her pale face.

Theoriok abruptly woke up from a knock on his door. He had been taking a quick nap in his guest chamber.
He silently walked to the door and opened it with a quick jerk.
"What is it?"

"Very funny, dear sister." Faye-Lin commented, then turned to the door as it was opened by the tall guest. "Evening sir." She was a bit taken aback from his plain and short answer. "You are invited to the banquet this evening, if you wish to join us."

Thalia walked a little closer to see the figure at the other side of the door opening. "Ah so this is the mystery lover. Not my choice, but..." she didn't finish her sentence and walked to the dining hall.

"Thanks for inviting me" Theoriok said, ignoring the older princess' jest. "I will join the rest in a short while, if you would be so kind to allow me some time to wash up. And I do apologize for being so blunt, sometimes when I just wake up I tend to forget my manners..."

Faye-Lin's little shock was soon over and she smiled again. "Of course, I shall ask the servants to wait with serving dinner. If there is anything you need..."

"I'll be fine, really. I will be down in ten minutes, if someone could escort me to the dining hall. I'm afraid I don't quite know my way around the castle yet..."

Lilai found her sister Thalia in the hallway as they took a joint stairs to the banquet hall. "I hope the food is ready, I'm ever so hungry."

"I'd be happy to escort you, sir. I'll wait here until you are ready." She replied with a friendly smile.

"It would be quite the honour."
Theoriok re-entered the room, quickly undressed, washed up and put on his fanciest clothes. Then he opened the door again.
"I'm ready, Your Highness."
