Everyone has it. The initial drug that got you addicted to the whole damn thing. That one series you picked up thinking, "Oh, neato." Little did you know that it would start you down a road where you would be coming to decisions of whether to buy food or comic books and you buy comic books. Because you can always eat later but manga won't wait.
So, what was everyone's first manga? Mine was the first volume of Cardcaptor Sakura, bought only because I liked the anime on WB but I'd heard it was very much edited. It just started with a small curiosity... I had no idea what would come of it.

Sailor Moon volumes 1 & 2 were my first manga ever. I remember my dad buying them for me and him saying, "these are expensive books you want"...
... I also remember asking the nice lady at the Borders we were at where their manga section was... and she looked at me kinda funny... and I told her I wanted some books called "Sailor Moon"... she had to LOOK THEM UP... and take me to the "section" labeled graphic novels which was really just one little shelf smushed on the end of the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section. There were probably 10 different titles there... and that was it.
Man I feel old. xd

CCS wasn't even in a graphic novel section. It was with a bunch of random books, I just happened to find it. I hadn't even realized that people were releasing these things in America before I came across it. ^^;;

I started with anime.. Internet searching informed me that most anime starts out in a manga [comic book form]. I was like oooohhh.. nifty! surprised SOOOOoooo went to the mall and wandered around Borders till I FOUND THEM! I picked up Marmalade Boy V. 1 because it was the only thing I'd heard of AND had the first volume available..
I loved that series sooooo much back then!! When I finished it... I simply wanted more!!! xp

Ranma 1/2, it's basicly the longest series in graphic novels, other than Inuyasha. I only started a few years ago. Before that I meanly watched anime on tv and i think those r what really got me hocked.......

For me it all started when I was about 2. I had these Japanese paper dolls that had these cute little manga style girls and cute clothes. And I loved these dolls to death. I more or less just became obsessed with the art style.....Then, there was The Last Unicorn, which was an American and Japanese joint production, and my favorite childhood movie....Then, there was a TV show on Nickelodeon called The Little Bits, which was actually an anime. That was the start of it all for me. I always had an eye out for that uniquely beautiful art syle, and when they started showing more anime on TV when I was in middle school, I got hooked, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop......then, I learned in high school that there were comic book forms of this art form I had loved so much.....and a friend suggested Chobits. I didn't really start reading manga until after High School, but I've always just been a fan of the style. Since I can remember. So, I blame the paper dolls....and CLAMP. ^.^
