I love your tattoos!

I might take a picture of my tattoo and put it up here. It's on my back..So it might be an interesting task... sweatdrop

Those are really good; you're going to make an amazing tattoo artist. 3nodding

I'm kind of curious though.. Is it hard to go from drawing on paper to flesh? I mean, I'm sure it won't be the same thing, but how different is it? *nosycuriouslittlebratx3*

its incredibly hard!! Its like you clamp your hand onto a pencil in a really awkward way holding it straight up and down, and drag it forever, holding your hand in the same position forever. haha i'm exaggerating, but its quite a task.

Skin gives and pulls and moves and sticks to everything you do, or the person does moves, or even breathes too hard. paper just...sits there. You can move paper around to fit your hand/drawing practice. You can't really move people. I've had to tattoo vertically before, and omg. stressed

what kind of schooling do you need to go through to become and artist? Does it pay well? How long did you go to school for it?

scream Schools? There are no tattoo schools. If they are, they take your money, teach process, not the art. You pay them to 'teach' you how to tattoo, and most of the time these are the people who're giving you the shittiest tattoos in town because they're just shmucks hoping to cash in on tattooing, and no real artistic talent.

So no, I don't go to 'school' for it.

Like with any Trade, you start with an apprenticeship, which is what I'm doing now. I'm not going to give details, because every shop, shop owner, and professional tattooer is different.

And I don't ask about your income, so don't ask about mine. Terribly rude.

O_o Holy jeeze, chill! I'm looking at it as a career option, and so I asked a tattoo artist some questions that were bothering me.

You REALLY didn't need to be rude about that at ALL. Seriously. I need a career to get me through early life, and the only reason why I asked about pay was to see if it could help me get through post-secondary.

I really don't think it was all that rude of her. If you didn't even KNOW about apprentiseship, you might want to consider a career in something you know more about.
