Oh. My. God. This opening will probably last us till after the fillers. I am shocked. The song itself is fine. But the pictures.When I saw Ichimaru coming up behind Matsumoto and holding her, I jumped... And then, during Hitsugaya's part... I almost burst into tears. Having read the manga, I know the significance of his short part... and it's horrible. And the part with Orihime was spoilerific. Which is why I say it's going to last us longer. *fangirl squeel* whee Though, you do have to admit, Hitsugaya looked sooo cute in the beginning before Matsumoto hugged him!
Who was stepping on that butterfly?! Grr...
eek Did Ichimaru just embrace Matsumoto???
For a minute there, I thought Aizen was Andrew Waltfeld from Gundam SEED!

Much of this opening had heavy Bleach manga spoilers. The butterly could've represented his "soul"... and then it shows Hinamori. And in chapter 224... well... let's just say... it kinda reminds me of this. The Orihime part especially - GIANT SPOILER THERE.@.@

I was thinking that the butterfly was Hitsu's soul too and I interpreted it differently. I thought that his soul was being crushed because he was trying to save Hinamori and doesn't Orihime *get abducted by Aizen?* sweatdrop

I just thought of something!
Okay. It shows a footprint - Aizen, as he walks past, just wounding Hitsugaya in episode 60. Hitsugaya sees Hinamori in his supposed last moments, and then it shows the butterfly, representing how he thinks he/Hinamori is dead/going to die.

I watched episode 98 just for the opening... I can't watch anymore of the filler episodes... I can't wait til they get back to the manga.
about the hitsu dieing thing arrow yes orihime gets kidnapped by Aizen and as of the last of the manga episodes not only is Hitsugaya alive but not even close to being killed yet, plus he's was taken back to sereitsu the last time we saw him in the manga.

I DON'T WANT HITSU TO DIE!!! crying crying crying The foot doesn't actually step on the butterfly. it just shows a foot and then a butterfly(death moth... whatever) but the foot is gone. I think you're interpretation is pretty close Hitsu. ^.^

I think the significance of this opening is how much an effect Aizen's betrayal had on Hitsugaya-sama.
Matsumoto's part... may have to do with what Ichimaru said before he left.
"I wouldn't have minded being held a bit longer." - or something like that. At least, it probably represents her feelings towards him.
As for the Orihime part.... spoilers: It probably has to do with how she gets kidnapped by Aizen. The blood dripping from her hands could represent how she's holding her friend's lives in her hands, or perhaps how dirty she feels having had to join Aizen.
It could also represent how Tsubaki got torn up. The hair clips dissolving... could represent how she feels that she is "evil," and not the Orihime she used to be.
Of course, all of this is strictly interpretation..
Also, in the first frame, her reflection in the water is pitch black.
In other words, I think her role in this is her guilt in joining Aizen, and her insecurities doing so. I have to admit, no matter what she does... she's stuck.

Currently, I'm trying to figure out who's at that fast pace part. They only show flashes of people, so it's hard to tell.
What I have:
Yoruichi (in cat form)
Ichigo
Unknown (is it even a person?)
Unknown (Rukia? Hitsugaya?)
Renji
Unknown (again.. is it even human?)
Orihime
Chad
Unknown (Ikkaku? Hitsugaya?)
Matsumoto
:/ And that's basically it.
I can't figure out what those two... things are. One looks like... a clawed hand... or something.
