So has anyone read The Book Thief by Markus Zusak?

Synopsis
Liesel Meminger is a 9 or 10 year old girl who has been placed into foster care during WW2 germany. On the way to her foster home she finds a book "The Grave-diggers Handbook" on the ground and she takes it with her. During the time at her foster home she learns to read and becomes obsessed with finding more books to read, eventually stealing them from bonfires and the mayor's house. The book is narrated by Death, who believe it or not is a really funny guy (in my opinion). The story also gives the little things about her life, and events that happened to her friends. And did I mention the Jewish man hiding in the basement?

So what I'd like to discuss here is your opinions of the book, what you think of specific characters like Liesel, Rudy, Hans and Rosa and the accuracy of the descriptions of Nazi Germany.
