Who here loves Hunchback?

I must say it's probably my favorite disney movie of the 90s.

I love the music when Quasimodo saves Esmerelda from being burnt at the steak.

I love all the music. My favorite song would have to be Hell Fire.

My favorite character would be Quasimodo. He's so sweet.

I loved the Hunchback of Notre Dame, my favourite character was probably Esmerelda. I was always intrigued by the gypsy look, I thought it was really, really pretty. I'm not sure what my favourite song would be though, it's been so long since I last seen it I can barely remember them!

Also the little goat was cute, I had a stuffed toy of him and I called it Nigel. No idea why... smile

I think I saw that one in the cinema, actually. 3nodding Right, my aunt took me. But anyway, I really -really- liked the horse! It was so funny! Oh, and Esmeralda, of course. I have to agree with Aeronwyn-san, her outfit and look was just amazing.
My favorite song is the same as yours, Usagibunny-san, the one when he saves Esmeralda from the steak. Such a dramatic scene too. Very nice movie.

I think this is perhaps the most underrated Disney Movie of the 90s. It is extroardinary in the way it handles very mature, deep things. I love the entire soundtrack, especially "God Bless the Outcasts" and "Out There."
I love Kevin Kline's wonderful performance as well as Tony Jay's great Frollo.

Its a shame they totally had to defy the spirit of the novel by making a sequel though...

I actually don't like the movie very much; I thought it was too dark and mature to be a family movie. I do appreciate the characters, though, and I especially like "God Help the Outcasts."

Every copy of that sequel should be rounded up and burned. Anyone ever been subjected to it? They had it running over and over in the background while I was at work one day, and by the end of my shift, I was nearly ready to tear my hair out. "I'm Gonna Love You" is the most wretched excuse for a song ever.

I do agree that some parts were a bit dark but if you exclude that point, it is a very good movie.

Actually, that is why I liked the movie, it was showing that Disney didn't have to be force fed and family friendly all the time. There is absolutely no reason for animation to only be family friendly and I often find the family friendly label attached to Disney to not be totally accurate, as I never saw the original label as meaning to do that at all. It was supposed to entertain everyone, and sometimes that is possible to do with dark themes. Heck, Snow White is plenty dark at times and kids still love it.

I oove that movie... I saw it in the movies with my mom (who first made me watch the biography rolleyes biggrin ) and she said they did really well with Quasimodo for the kids. I always loved Clopan and Esmiralda, and "Out There" and "God Bless the Outcasts" are great. I have many, MANY Disney CD's and I wish they'd put that song on one of them. I love the whole end of the movie. The 2nd one didn't bother me too much, but I thought it was too... I don't know... cliche... of course, that's how I've felt about a lot of recent Disney movies.

How sweet. whee

I love the movie, especially because of its maturity. I didn't quite understand it when I was younger, but after I watched it when I was older I understood alot more about the movie. Hehe, I remember I was once Esmerelda for Halloween once. Too bad my hair couldn't be as wonderful as hers though. gonk

I've mentioned this before elsewhere, but I have a weird love/ hate relationship with this movie.

Hate because it's one of my favorite books, and I can't even stand to see a copy of it abridged, much less blatantly changed like it had to be to make it a family movie. (In the original story, everyone except for Clopin, Phoebus, and D'jali are dead at the end, and Phoebus is an infidelious p***k the whole while with an arranged fiancee named Fleur-de-Lys. Oh, and Quasimodo is deaf. Those are the most noteable changes, at least.)

Love because the artwork is so freakin' gorgeous, and the music is actually even better than the visuals. I just break down crying whenever I hear "God Help the Outcasts"....

My favorite character has always been and always will be Clopin, the king of le Court des Miracles! They made him so cool in the movie! And they left him very true to his character, too. He was never really a "good guy", after all. He's a cutthroat, ya know. Literally. I'm so in love with him.

I love the song "God Help the Outcasts". I love how Esmerelda had dark skin and hair with turqoise eyes and her only having one earing was pretty cool too (I can understand her reason for one since peircing your ears use to be a verry painfull proccess.

Actually she only had one earing because Jolly(the goat) had one two. They shared the earings to symbolize a team.

Hunchback's finale just made me angry, made me want my money back, and the two hours of my life. I really look forward to the new Disney flick every year and I was so disappointed with this one. Compared to other films, this one doesn't stick in my memory. Esmeralda was the best thing about it, her and the supporting non-human cast (horse, goat, gargoyles).

It was schizophrenic. It's shameful to take a serious social commentary and try to turn it into a happy family movie. There's nothing fun about a cripple being tortured by a sadistic perverted clergyman.
