I seriously dont know the first thing about building a deck so could someone please explain what i should go about doing or is there a link to somewhere that explains it... any help would be apreciated..

well start by picking cards u do like and a type of monster that u want to base a deck arould like ur favorite, i love dark magician and i use support cards to play him easier now people call dark magician old school but i love him and if u find a card u love and want to play try basing a deck around it if u rather use like mostly spell or traps do that then

a deck with mostly monsters with high atk and is mostly an attaking deck with powerful monsters that is called a beat down deck to wipe out the opponent fast

a deck with exodia or other cards that could win for u easaly that the and instant win deck with high def monsters that stall ur opponent until u pull all the cards u need

u can make a great deck if u use ur imagination and r deturmindu can be great

Let's first take a few things into consideration:

a) What kind of player are you? Aggressive, laid-back, etc.
b) What do you have at your disposal? Do you have many powerful cards that give you a variety of choices or are you cards few and far between.
c) What are you wanting to build? Do you have a preference towards a certain card, theme, or strategy?

Once you figure out these things you must always keep this in mind while building a deck to not stray from the "theme" you have chosen by trying to have 2 themes going at once (very bad idea). You don't always have to run all spellcasters in a spellcaster deck, because some cards benefit the deck without being a spellcaster. Just keep in mind that you are working towards a single goal to win and your cards should too

A deck can based around a single card and play well, it justs needs to have ample support and have ways to make sure that the deck isn't going to fall apart if that card is killed off (usually through recursion, a back-up plan, or a card that takes that loss and makes it work for it.)

i have ways to protect my dark magician and i have 3 and my dark magician support cards i have others card beside my dark magician i always have a back up plan but if u like a sertain card and r deturmind to make that card work then good thats whats fun about making your first deck making combos and having fun

Here's a reckless suggestion for if you wanna surprise the opponent, run a bunch of different cards. Don't run a theme at all, it'll leave them guessing and allow you to turn the duel around many times, trust me on that I'm had a blast Sunday at a tournament by doing such w/ a random deck. I came in second at that tournament because of my decks randomness^^

Don't run a theme at all, it'll leave them guessing and allow you to turn the duel around many times, trust me on that I'm had a blast Sunday at a tournament by doing such w/ a random deck. I came in second at that tournament because of my decks randomness^^

rofl that sounds like something id do... too much predictablility with a planned deck... people would pre empt what youd do if theyre a good enough duelist

The key to making a deck is to put cards that have alot of uses and can be used by themselves, examples are :Mystical Space Typhoon, Dark Hole, Torrential Tribute, Monster Reborn, snatch steal .etc

All those cards have a use that isn't for just one card. Usually many people put cards that are hard to summon and require more then one card to actually summon for example biggrin ark Magician Knight Requires a Dark Magician on the field and its Magic Card, To get a Dark magician on the field is pretty dificult and its advised that you just stick with the dark magician since all you gain from Dark Magician knight is the ability to destroy a card something you can do with Reaigeki Break at any momment.

So keep your deck with tons of low level monsters so that you won't suffer to much and always have a defense.
