Whispers of the Shadows
Captain

PostPosted: Mon Oct 09, 2006 5:45 pm

As usual, the storm was still raging around the holy Daegorian mountain. Lightening still raged and struck the surface of the snow capped peak. As well, the constant swirling winds created a shadowy haze of ice crystals. Whispers smirked at the sight, wondering, if the day will come when she would have to climb to the mountain peak as only a select few of her gifted ancestors had.
Sighing deeply, and letting the winds play with her hair, the Lady of the Winds sat on a large bolder, in one fo the great fields that the land of the wind was known for. Her long tail wrapped around her, flicking absent mindely as she sat dazed off. Thoughts where also flying through her head, of the meating she had with the council others. Biting her lip, she really wished the other Grand masters would return, she was young, and she really needed their advice right now.

So much has changed while we were away.... (Aye. That it has.)

*Albert and his green dragon, Feyrbrand, soared high over the relm of the Gaia Dragons. Albert, connected as he was to Feyrbrand, was gifted with what could basically be seen as elven abilities: Increased strength and speed, the ability to touch someone's conciousness with his mind, and super attuned senses. His eyes were like that of a hawk's as his gaze ran over the world below him, allowing him to see things as if he were only 70 feet over the ground. Then, he saw something that caught his attention.*

Hello. I think that I might have just found a familiar face. Land, Feyrbrand.

*With not so much as a word, the dragon angled into a shallow dive, circling widely until they alighted on the ground. Albert lept from the saddle strapped to Feyrbrand's back. His green scales caught the light, casting magnificent specks of emerald on the landscape.*

Hail, Windmaster! What news is there to be heard of these past 2 months?

Whispers turned, blood red, cat like eyes, peering at the being whom addressed her. She smiled again, and stood, peering over the tamer, and the bright emerald dragon he rode upon. She knew them, mostly by faint rumors and images sent by mail and other sources, his name was Albert, a Dragon Tamer who has gained the unique abilities to cominicate with the proud beast beside him.

"Ah greetings Albert, Am I correct?" she bounced off the large boulder where she was once seated. , "Beautiful dragon, may I ask his name?" She said stepping forward, long, feathered wings remaining pinned at her back, but one coudl probably guess that when they extended they woudl be graceful and elegant.

*Albert nodded, smiling happily.*

Yes, I am Albert, and the dragon beside me is my partner, Feyrbrand. We have been away from the land of Dragons for near two months now.

*He furrowed his eyebrows thoughtfully, and his entire appearance seemed to darken. Feyrbrand settled himself on the ground, watching the two of them as they spoke.*

Things have changed quite severely, or so it seams. We have been here not two days, and we have heard of strange beasts appearing from each of the realms. Is there anything that you can tell me about this? We may be able to help.

*The dragon growled an affirmative.*

((Here is a picture of Eragon riding Saphira in her Dragon Armor into battle. Just subtract the armor, imagine the scales green and kind of reflective, and proportion the dragon larger in the area of its neck, legs and tail, and you will have a pretty good idea of how Feyrbrand looks:

Whispers nodded lightly, but remained standing, her hands casually slipping into her pockets, "To tell the truth, I really wish I knew. Myself. I have encountered multible creatures and each of them I had to find another method of defeating them or driving them away." She grumbled lightly showing some amount of aggrivation.

"I gave a description to the old men in the great council, but with out the rest of the Grandmasters here, they can't come to a clear cut decision on how to take them. " The Lady's wings flicked as she starred at the lovely Feyrbrand, then she looked back to the person speaking to her, "Some look like spiders, some look liek mutated reptilian dragons, and some look like undescribably nightmares. Either way, they where vicious and unrelenting."

She smiled again as she slowly approached the resting Dragon, "Beautfiul, and, aslo fascinating, how did you come across your talents to be able to connect to him to such a level?"

*Albert shook his head, shrugging.*

You know, I'm not really sure. My father was the one who gave me Feyrbrand's egg. He said that he found it while searching distant lands, past that of which we know. The egg seemed to be the same as any other dragon's, but for some reason, our minds became linked when I first touched him as a hatchling.

*Albert's smile returned, this time with a hint of youthful cockyness to it.*

As Feyrbrand matured, so our link strenthened itself, and the traits of our two races seemed to pass to the other of us. I now have the strength and speed of an elf, and Feyrbrand has withdrawn from the arrogance and raw emotion that wild dragons are wont to have. Not only is there that, but we have found that, when our minds are linked, we are able to cast rudamentary magic using a near forgotten language. We have only just discovered this talent, so I am sure there is much more power to be found in that field.

Michelle bobbed her head to the side," I see, well, thats interesting," a smile came to play on her lips again and she turned around to Albert.

"Well I can say to you is that you have a gift, I can definently see you going much further if you are at all like me, which, I can tell we both share some similar qualities. " She laughed outwardly then lifted her hands scratched her blue hair.

"Now..have you ever been to the realms of the Wind. All I heard was word of mouth, during various tamers tournements of skill and what not, you blew peopel away." she grinned , but it seemed devious, all because of her sharp little teeth held in her mouth.

Yeah... I don't think they took being beaten by a newcomer very well.

*He laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his head in a fasion that suggested that she had moved to a topic that was a bit embarrasing for him to speak of.*

I've heard of you as well. That you learned of your powers as only a child.... AMAZING! They way you handle your powers is legendary. They say that you are on your way to becoming the most powerful Windmaster yet!

She clearly blushed, her cheeks grew flush, and she rasied a balled hand and coughed into it, "Well, I dont know.." Embarresed, thatw as very obvious, yet anyone could see a little bit of an ego, heack probably a big one. But when your in a position such as her own, it was really hard not to have an ego, probably impossible, even for the most pur eof hearts.

"It just kind of came ot me..thast all. But, I would like to leave my name in or lands history..to say the least." the same hand she coughed into was thrusted backwards, to allow the black clawed fingers to scratch against her scalp.

Huh. I guess you were right: we are very much alike.

*Albert placed his hand on Feyrbrand's muscular shoulder, who hummed contentadly. For a moment, he considered leaping into the saddle on the dragon's back, bidding the master farewell, and riding off, but then a thought accured to him. He looked her in the face before speaking.*

You know, it's still a ways to Neo town, and I was wondering: you wouldn't like a bit of company, would you? I was heading that way now anyways. Feyrbrand and I have spent the past two days traveling over the land of dragons, learning what we could of the strange creatures and going ons. Neo town was going to be our next stop.

Whispers, starred up thoughtfully, but thens hook her head lightly, "No, I'm afraid I can't join you this time talented Dragon tamer. For you see," she smiled a bit deviously, "I am waiting for one of the beasts to show up. There has been one said to be roaming the farm land in this area, preying upon live stock and attempting toattack gaians and dragons. "

Her clawed fingers scraped at the buoulder that she once sat upon, then climbed back on atop of it, sitting on it like a little child. She shuffled her legs a little bit and smiled, red sharp eyes looking about the fields that swayed rythmicaly with the winds that this territory was known for. And so far, there was nothing...nothing at all. Just a quiet rolling winds and brushing wheat. This was going to be dull, very dull, but it was her duty after all.

*After a pause, Albert surveyed the area. She could sit here all day and not find what she was looking for.*

Perhaps we can be of assistance. I would think that help would be appreciated in this matter.

*The young man closed his eyes, and cast out with his mind in all directions as far as he could. At first, he felt nothing but the life of the plants and animals, but then, he touched against a conciousness that was.... different. Facinated by this, he ignored the other contacts, and focused his mind on that one being. Coming as a shock to Albert, before he could glean anything useful from the strange being's mind, a mental spike of amazing power thrust back into his mind, causing excruciating pain. Albert fell to his knees from the shock of the attack, retreating behind his defences. Before releasing him from it's grasp, he heard an unearthly voice float over the link.*

You fool....

*The contact faded away, and Albert's eyes flashed open. Sweat covered his brow and his breath came in sharp gasps.*

Whispers red eyes watched Albert's reaction., coming out of no where as he seemed to send his mind out towards everything. Him colapsing, sent the woman to her feet. She stumbled up and looked around.

Everything had grown quiet, everything. The breezes ceased to flow, the birds took flight and scattered every which way and any other small animals which once where about the wide fields took to hiding. "Damn! " whispers announced, redying her body, "You called it right to us!"

Albert didn't know it, she was waiting, hoping to take it off gaurd, but here came the large beast out of no where. Whispers hypothisized that it came out of the ground just over the rolling hill to the east. Like the last one she fought, this one had a body like a spider, mixed with a scporpion, for it had large pincers in its front, but a wide abdomen that could shoot energy draining web.

Whispers jumped off the boulder and started to run at the beast as it charaged at the small woman. This monster, which she so bravely charaged, was a good ten feet taller then her.

*Albert felt a measure of strength flow into him. He looked up at Feyrbrand, who now stood beside him. His large, ivory teath were bared in a snarl.*

(Albert, hurry! The Lady needs our help!)

*Albert switched his gaze to where last he felt the presence, only to see the young Air Master collide in battle with a huge beast. He quickly set aside the weariness from his mental conflict with the monster and jumped to his feet. Reaching over to the saddle on Feyrbrand's back, he pulled out a sword, which's blade was the same color as Feyrbrand's scales, and an elven spear. Steeling himself, he dashed foreward, moving faster than any normal human was capable, with his dragon next to him, bellowing a battle roar.*

The beast lunged. Moving forward to grab the lady with its powerful, fanged jaws. Venomous salivia dripping from its teeth. Yet, the woman, who had become the windmaster all over the land easily dodged the creatures attempt. Soaring into the air, and looking as Albert made a move to it.

"Stay back!" she yelled down to him, large white feathered wings beating rapidly, "Its only after me!"

She was right, the beast, whos hunger swarmed around the pure energy that eminated from gaian dragons lashed its immense pincers in the air, trying its best to nap the creature who flew witht he grace of a reptilian dragon, liek the one Albert grown attached too.

I DESIRE YOUR POWER,it hissed loudly, raising its abdomen ssuddenly and trying to nab her with its web. GIVE IT TO MEEEE!

Whispers dodged again, and as the beast readied itself for another attack, she puleld her hands together, clasping them with her fingers. Red eyes seeming to glow with a firey intensity. Suddenly her hands began to pull apart as air began to compress itself between them. Her muscles where tensed. It was hard to hold compressed air at these levels. Her shapr little teeth gritted and then, suddenly, she could hold it no longer. She held her struggling hands outwards then opened them. A collected stream of powerful air launched downwards, plunging against the monster between its abdomen and Thorax. It screamed out loudly, as the wave of compressed air streamed outwards in a powerful waves gusting wind.
