This band is one of my faves, ever. James LaBrie is such an amazing vocalist. John Myung is an inspiration to me, as I am learning the bass guitar. Portnoy is probably the best drummer ever, and Petrucci is a fantastic guitarist. And Jordan Rudess owns the keyboards.
I onlyhave Octavarium, Score [Live] and Images and Words, but I've heard more of their stuff. My fave song by them at the moment is In The Name Of God. Discuss Dream Theater!

i think that almost everybody who likes progressive metal like dream theater! at least i do. special the live album: "once in a livetime".
my favorite song in lines in the sand. the long instumental past in the beginning is just great! biggrin i also like the song waiting for sleep, its just a song i can hear over and over again.
only 1 thing i don't like very much about them... i'm not a big fan of the vocas of james labrie on the most albums. i must say he has a great voice. like his preformance on ayrean is simply great. but with dream theater.. no not my favorite. maybe thats the main reason why i like liquid tension experiment above dream theater.

Azimio Indeed a shame as Rudess makes some real amazing sounds. in the song metropolis you can't hear him most of the time neutral
but the vocals are much better on score then on once on a livetime 3nodding

Dream Theater is my all-time favorite band. I love everyone of their songs/albums. I'm a total DT-fangirl. whee
As for Jordan and SCORE, I think he had plenty of time to shine IE his Continuim (sp?). That thing kicks serious a**. m/

Probably the most boring band ive heard.
Zero passion, infinite wankery.
But they have a knack of having two amazing songs on every album funnily enough.

soulexposed mirkwood raven Probably the most boring band ive heard. Zero passion, infinite wankery. But they have a knack of having two amazing songs on every album funnily enough. So, which two songs on Octavarium (latest album) did you like?I didnt bother with that one. Ive listened to Falling Into Infinity and Images and Words, other then that ive heard random songs. Most off them follow the same formula: Long intro Verse-chorus-verse Long wankery section Verse Continue like this End about 8 minutes later.

i think the best song on images and words if "wait for sleep" that song isn't like you discribe dream theater at all.

Ah-huh.
Big Dream Theater fan here.
I am forever grateful to the one who introduced me to them. Scenes was my first album, I loved it so much the very next day I went out and bought two more of their albums.
Now I have a large portion of their catalogue, and am hoping to see Petrucci live when he comes to Perth. (Yes, I nearly fainted in hearing of this news!)
