I generally suck at titles. I'll say that right now. I need a new title for two books (they're in the same series) Right now they're titled Fire's Apprentice and The Final Battle. I don't like the first one because Tori, the main character, isn't really apprenticing with the God of Fire, because she's not going to become the next God of Fire, she's the True Heir of Cambria, and eventually becomes the Goddess of Rain and Thunder. And the second one sounds more like something out of the Chronicles of Narnia to me. So . . . anyone got any ideas?

Woo .. . I got super distracted there for a bit . . . here's the general 1st book plot:

Tori leads a common life, the old king is killed (Methos) and several other people want his place because he left no heir, Sarlack destroys her village for helping to hide the last rival, (he becomes the king) and she is wounded, found by the God of fire, trained to become a fierce fighter, she finds out that she's the True Heir, hates the idea, runs away, finds out that there's more going on beneath the surface, like the god of fire (Blaize) is trying to kill the god of thunder (Tsep), and she falls in love with Tsep, but refuses to admit to it because it would destroy the world, and goes back to Blaize, defeats Sarlack, wins the crown, and makes the country a better place.

Yeah, that's not detailed at all, but the detailed version is 3 pages long in word, and I hit all the major points. Ask for details if you need em. 3nodding

Next book plot:

Tori has been queen for about 8 years and she wants Sairia (her daughter born in the previous book) to come to court in order to be trained as the only heir to the queen. Sairia has been living with the gods because Tori didn’t want Sairia to be subject to assasination attempts. She hasn’t neglected the girl—every spare moment she gets she visits, but they’ve become fewer recently because of affairs of state. Carys, the god of love, constantly bothers Saria, who is a quiet girl who prefers to be on her own rather than with the horde of other gods; they’re too loud and they never contemplate anything. Carys typically follows her around, causing trouble and making her a klutz. He accidentally makes himself fall in love with her, and follows her to court. Saria is then subject to countless princess lessons which she thinks are interesting but she'd rather be reading a book. She gets kidnapped and Tori goes after her and saves her, and insists on teaching her how to weild weapons. Meanwhile, Sairia befriends a girl, Maleah (who is 19 or 20) and Maleah becomes a lady-in-waiting. Maleah follows Tsep and hates Tori because of Sarlack’s death. Carys accidentally makes Maleah fall in love with him and she’s better at pursuing him than he is at pursuing Sairia, but he and Sairia end up getting together eventually. At the ball that Tori throws to welcome her daughter, Maleah tries to kill Sairia but Tori gets in the way and gets the poisoned blade. Then Blaize shows up and warns that Tsep is coming for the showdown—he appears a second later with a crack of lightning—and challenges Tori with the goddess of sex on his arm. At the last moment, Blaize finally wins (all the gods had to agree to his killing Tsep) and he strips Tsep of his godhood but Tsep doesn’t die because he has too many dark spirits on his side. Then Tori runs him through with her katana. He laughs until he realizes he’s in pain and bleeding. She pushes it further into him, and gives it a twist—he tenses and stares at her in shock. He spits at her, and then explodes in a wave of darkness that washes over everyone. Tori then absorbs his god-energies, and becomes the goddess of thunderstorms and rain. Sairia ends up taking the throne three years later, after she comes of age.

Hmm...I must read them! burning_eyes

Okay!

1st book: Possibly something involving hier, thunder, or fire that references a key point in the story. (I know, not that helpful. I'm not that good at titles either sweatdrop .)

2nd book: Blaize Vs. Tsep : THE FINAL SHOWDOWN!! Okay, sorry. Not funny. Maybe something like Ascent to the Throne or Rise to Power since Tori becomes the goddess and Sairia takes over the throne so it has a double meaning.

Yeah, I'm with not.so.little on this one, but honestly I have no idea.

I usually keep writing until something hits me that describes the whole book in a few words. SO I can only say don't try and force a title out. One will come to yeah.

Good luck

Eh, I hate naming my stuff. Haha, if you take my advice most of your stuff will end up being names something like 'Sairia's Story'.

Really though, if I'm serious about choosing a name and one does not come to me after about three months of working I choose a main theme or character of the story and play around with their name until I find something that sounds good. Like if my character was a magician trying to save the world I would probably use 'magic' or another word like sorcery in the title.

Since there's a struggle between choosing fire and thunder (unless I misunderstood your plot) in the first story you might want to show that in your title, such as Between Fire and Thunder (though not actually that... sweatdrop ).

Sorry I couldn't be of much help and I hope you figure out names for your stories!

I dunno. It's tricky naming someone elses stuff if you're not really involved with the story but I like to go with one word titles. Like, if it was me I would just name the first one Fire and the second one Rain and then give the series a really cool title like The Struggle of the Gods or something but nothing as generic as that. Something that would get peoples attention.

I'm not too good with titles myself but for the first one maybe Heir among gods and for the second one Heir's Daughter. If I think up any more I'll let you know.
