At dinner, Chris laughs as she takes a bite of pasta.
Chris: So is this how you seduce all your pregnant women?
Biff: That and virgins, very gullible.
Chris: I was just drunk my first time; some football star who became a real s**t till Ivan kicked his a**.
Biff: Jealousy can be a powerful force.
Chris: Well he was mad about that and Max always being picked on but his breaking point when the guy called him a f**.
Biff: Well he does own a gay bar.
Chris: But like we say, anyone can go. I guess Ivan was pretty serious about his boyfriend though.
Biff: So then how did you two come to be?
Chris: When Ivan got his heart torn out…
Saikoro raises an eyebrow; Ivan faces away from Saikoro on the couch.
Ivan: Yeah… there was someone before Chris… his name was Kyo.
Ivan’s first memory of high school was him and Max walking in together.
Max: So what are we going to name the bar, Ivan?
Ivan: I’m not sure yet. We’ll think of something though.
Max: Okay big brother!
Back in the present, Chris takes a sip of her sparkling water.
Chris: I met Ivan about a month into school, we had chemistry together. That’s when he also met Kyo.
Biff: And what about Max?
Chris: He was friendly like he is now but he was never involved with anyone. I even asked why he never dated one time and he actually told me he wanted to meet someone older and different.
Biff: And I fit the description?
Chris: Biff, you’re one good looking man and Max was looking for someone like him – furry ears and a tail. Besides, a lot of people wouldn’t put with Max’s childish side even though they acted like children themselves.
Biff: That’s what makes him cute.
Chris: Anyway, everyone already knew Max was gay by the way he dressed and when a girl asked him out he’d cry and say he was sorry because he wasn’t interested. And as far as our other gay males went – it was only Kyo and Ivan.
Chris remembers walking up the school steps having snowballs thrown at her and Max.
Girl: It’s the Flaming Snowball and the Camdene’s Slut.
Chris: I feel like Lisa Cox…
Max: They’re only snowballs, someone casted a blizzard Lisa Cox’s house.
Ivan walks out the school doors, the people throwing snowballs stop and run.
Ivan: What took you two so long?
Max: I was painting Chris’ fingernails.
Chris: Pretty huh?
Ivan: Sure, do you know where Kyo is? He has our report for chemistry.
Chris: I know Kyo likes basketball so maybe he’s in the gym.
Ivan: All right.
Ivan goes into the gym; Kyo is shooting basketballs at the net.
Ivan: Kyo, where’s the report for chemistry? You did finish it, right?
Kyo: Of course.
Ivan: Can I have it so you don’t forget it like everything else?
Kyo: Well, I would give it to you but I want something in return.
Ivan: I’m not in for games right now Kyo.
Kyo: You’ve got to stop being so serious.
Kyo walks up to Ivan.
Kyo: You got to let loose once is a while.
Ivan: Just give me the report.
Kyo: Sure thing Ivan.
Kyo digs into his backpack and pulls out the report. He hands it to Ivan and grabs Ivan’s wrist; he pulls Ivan close to him and kisses him on the lips. Ivan blushes and turns his head away.
Ivan: What are you doing?
Kyo: I wanted you the first time I saw you.
Ivan: But –
Kyo: You’re so cute, who’d ever meet a serious bunny rabbit?
Ivan: Kyo –
Kyo: I’ll have to take you on a date tonight, dinner and a movie good?
Ivan: Kyo, I’m not gay.
Kyo: Then why haven’t you hit it off with Chris?
Ivan: I respect Chris –
Kyo: And you can’t push away from this?
Kyo presses his lips against Ivan and slips his tongue into his mouth. Ivan blushes dropping the report papers. Later, Ivan walks down the hall blushing; Chris walks up to him.
Chris: Well this is a first, why are you blushing?
Ivan: Kyo kissed me…
Chris: What!
Ivan: I went to the gym to get the report and he kissed me.
Chris: Whoa…
Ivan: And now he’s taking me out tonight.
Chris: Looks like you got a boyfriend.
Ivan: I know... but you know how this school is…
Chris: Everything has to be public… well, enjoy your date.
Ivan shakes his head; he puffs on his cigarette trying to forget the memory. Saikoro clicks the save button on the computer.
Saikoro: Why not you go home for tonight?
Ivan: Yeah…
Ivan opens the door to his house, his eyes are lowered. Max waves, standing in the kitchen.
Max: Hey Ivan, I ordered pizza.
Ivan: I’m not hungry.
Max: But you got to eat big brother.
Ivan: I can’t really stomach anything right now.
Max: How come?
Ivan walks to his bed room door and opens it.
Ivan: I miss Kyo.
Ivan walks into his room shutting the door. Max slides down into the kitchen floor.
Max: Kyo…
Chris walks into Biff’s apartment, throwing off her shoes and sitting down on the couch. Biff goes into the kitchen to fix a pot of tea.
Biff: He must have been really hurt.
Chris: It’s just a part of life that makes no sense at all. But after that it made us pretty close. But that is why Ivan is very hesitant with you, he’s afraid you’ll leave Max.
Biff: I’d never do it that way but when the time comes I might have to leave for a while.
Chris: Hm?
Biff: Before anyone or thing comes the Goddess.
