The next day; Biff is combing his hair while Chris lies on the couch watching TV.
Chris: Where are you going?
Biff: Date with Max.
Chris: Hehe, have fun.
Biff: I certainly will. Call me if you need anything.
Chris: Okay.
At the Cow Spot, Max giggles sipping on a milkshake.
Max: Poor Chris, I wonder what it’s like to be pregnant.
Biff: Well I guess you won’t even know since you’re a male.
Max: Aww, but I want that motherly love!
Biff: Heh-heh, maybe a cat for your birthday.
Max: I won’t be getting any older though so what’s the point to having a birthday? I’ll always be seventeen…
Biff: Minna Zea breaking the Scepter of Time was quite a tragedy but there’s still the age trick and potions… and if you really wanted the pregnant mother feel there are gender potions.
Max: Wow, how’d do you know about this stuff Biffy?
Biff: Research, it’s the key to knowledge.
Max: So you just be my key then Biff!
Biff: Heh-heh, I guess so.
Max: Oh, and I wanted to ask you Biff...
Biff: Hm?
Max: Saikoro I guess made Ivan bring up Kyo… Ivan’s boyfriend from high school who Ivan really did love… how good is Saikoro at making people… get over there heart aches?
Biff: I don’t know; he never did help the one he was supposed to protect…
Ivan flops down on the couch in his office; Saikoro is typing away at the computer.
Ivan: I dreamt of Kyo last night…
Saikoro: What was your dream about?
Ivan: The night of our first date; made me wake up with a wet dream.
Saikoro: That good of a date?
Ivan: Well let me ask you something…
Alice is serving a customer when she hears an erupt of laughter from the office. Ivan puts his hand to his mouth, Saikoro cracks his neck.
Saikoro: So yes, give the fox vodka and he will do anything.
Ivan: Or get a sexually active boyfriend like Kyo.
Saikoro: So are you ready to continue on about Kyo?
Ivan: Yeah…
Kyo had his arm around Ivan walking down the hall to chemistry, Ivan remembers.
Kyo: You know, I hear bunnies are real sex machines.
Ivan: Don’t think with just one date that you’ll even get into my pants.
Kyo: I know, I’ll just have to keep on surprising you.
Saikoro takes a bite out of a blueberry muffin; Ivan wiggles his nose.
Ivan: Kyo took me too a lot of places and everything he did surprised me.
Saikoro: I hope there wasn’t anymore public sex acts.
Ivan: I told Kyo if he did that again, I’d have to leave him… but he still had a way to make me like him even more.
Saikoro: When did you realize that you loved him?
Ivan: When I was sick and out of school, the jerks there kept picking on Max and Chris till Kyo made that all stop… and after I got over my illness, I took the day off from school to go on a date with Kyo. It’s when he took me back to his apartment that I knew.
Kyo unlocks the door to his apartment and takes Ivan’s hand.
Kyo: I have to warn you, once you see it you’ll never want to leave.
Ivan: I’ll have to take your word on that.
Kyo opens the door, the living room and kitchen look normal. Ivan gets a sweat drop.
Ivan: Well it does look cozy…
Kyo: Not this, I’m hardly in the living room. You’ll fall in love with my bedroom.
Kyo leads Ivan to his bedroom; the room is painted lime green with a large hot pink bed in the center. There’s a computer media center to the side and a closet with all sorts of different clothes. Hanging on the walls are all sorts of different pictures of Kyo with friends.
Ivan: Wow, you made this really personal… it fits your personality.
Kyo: Bright and happy, right?
Ivan: Yeah… umm, Kyo…
Kyo: Hm?
Ivan: I just really wanted to thank you for defending Chris and Max.
Kyo: No problem, they’re my friends too.
Ivan: It really meant a lot to me and Kyo… you really mean a lot to me…
Kyo: You do too.
Ivan: Kyo… I… I love you.
Ivan blushes, Kyo smiles and puts his arms around Ivan’s waist. There noses touch; Kyo’s eyes focus on Ivan’s.
Kyo: And I love you.
Ivan: Enough to take me to bed or loose me forever?
Kyo: Enough to be with you forever.
Ivan puts his arms around Kyo and kisses him; Kyo kisses back and the fall down to the bed.
Kyo: I’ll be gentle.
Ivan nods blushing. Breaking the intimate memory, Saikoro clears his throat. Ivan takes out a pack of cigarettes.
Ivan: It was good and let me tell you, we did it quite often.
Saikoro: So then Ivan, what happened to Kyo?
Ivan: What happened to all of us you mean… I blame that stupid ******** jock for it all though.
Saikoro: Jock?
Ivan: The one who picked on my little brother, the one who used Chris, the one who beat the s**t out of Kyo… the one that made me finally break. If he had never seen me kiss Kyo behind school none of it would have happened…
Kyo’s in the hospital, he runs his fingers through Ivan’s hair as Ivan sits at his bedside.
Kyo: It’ll be all right Ivan…
Ivan: It was my fault… I should have never kissed you there.
Kyo: You were so happy though that I told you about living with me. We didn’t know that Mr. Football Super Star was there watching us.
Ivan: Or he would do this to you Kyo…
Kyo: This is nothing compared to how bad I want you now, stupid casts…
Ivan: I might be able to help there…
A few minutes later the nurse walks in and drops her sponge. Kyo blushes waving off the nurse.
Kyo: No need for you to do that, he’s got it.
Nurse: I see he’s already got Peter.
Kyo laughs, the nurse leaves shutting the door. Later, Ivan is resting on the bed next to Kyo.
Kyo: Thanks for being here with me.
Ivan: Thanks for kissing me in the gym that day.
Kyo: Thanks for making Peter and the rest of my body nice and clean.
Ivan: Thanks for that nurse referring to your p***s as Peter.
Kyo: Thanks for continuing even though she barged in.
Ivan: Thanks for thanks but no thanks on nurses interrupting my love and I.
Kyo: And thanks for loving me as much as I love you.
Ivan: Can we stop saying thanks now?
Kyo: You’ll have to kiss me to shut-up.
Ivan smiles and snuggles up to Kyo; he lightly kisses Kyo and rests his head on Kyo’s shoulder.
Ivan: I don’t want to leave you tomorrow…
Kyo: You already missed too much school from being sick… you have to go, for me?
Ivan: Only for you Kyo.
The next day in gym class; Max and Chris are laughing when they get crowded around by a group of people.
Andrew: No one wants you now slut so you hang with the flamer?
Chris: Go away.
Janice: Make us.
Max: Chris, what’s going on?
Chris: Whatever you do, don’t use your teeth Max…
Max: Why?
Joey: Because we’re going to kick your pathetic asses!
Lucy: Do it Joey!
Joey takes a swing at Max, Chris grabs Max’s wrist and pulls him out of the way. Janice grabs Chris’ hair.
Lucy: Rip it out Janice! I’ll take a swing at her!
Ivan puts his foot out and trips Lucy, Janice stops pulling Chris’ hair and Chris elbows her in the face. Chris then kicks Janice on the ground.
Ivan: Are you okay Chris?
Chris: I’ve been better.
Ivan: Get Max out of here.
Joey: Who the hell do you think you are?
Andrew: He’s that f*****t whose other f** friend I beat the s**t out of for being gay. What you going to do f*****t boy? Fight like a girl? Like that sissy boy of yours Kyo? I beat that f** so bad, he’s in the hospital.
Andrew and Joey start laughing, Ivan punches Andrew in the face then kicks him in the stomach causing Andrew to go flying. Joey blinks then grabs Max.
Joey: Stay away from me flamer or I’ll hit him.
Chris: Don’t!
Ivan: Let him go.
Joey: Haha, scared now?
Max’s ears go up and his tail flares up; he snarls. Joey starts laughing.
Ivan and Chris: Max!
Max lunges at Joey’s throat; Janice and Lucy shriek in horror. Ivan and Chris are sitting in the office along with Janice, Lucy, and Andrew. The principal gets off the phone.
Principal: Joey Mariner is dead; he died on the way to the hospital.
Lucy starts to cry, Ivan’s ears go down.
Lucy: You’re brother killed him!
Ivan: Max…
Chris: If you morons would have left him alone this wouldn’t have happened!
Janice: We didn’t know he was a lunatic!
Principal: SILENCE! There’s a student dead and one in police custody. What was the meaning of all this?
There’s bickering back and forth between Chris and Andrew; Ivan stares at the floor.
Principal: Janice, take Lucy out of here and to the nurse.
Janice nods and leaves the room with Lucy. Chris gets out of her seat.
Chris: That’s bull s**t Andrew!
Principal: Marlous! Back in your seat.
Chris glares and sits back down. The principal looks at Ivan.
Principal: You haven’t said anything Ruby…
Andrew: That’s because he knows his brother is going to prison.
Chris: You should be the one going to prison!
Principal: Enough Andrew and Marlous! Ruby… answer me or I’ll charge you with withholding information.
Ivan: You make me sick…
Principal: What Ruby?
Ivan: You can’t even call me and Chris by are first names. I told you weeks ago that it was Andrew who beat Kyo up and you say that it was impossible because he’s the star football player. Well ******** him and ******** you. Your god damn football star and his friends started the fight with Chris and Max and no one messes with them. Your perfect school is full of s**t and anyone with a brain is shunned for thinking on their own. I told Joey to back off; people can’t seem to understand that Max is part wolf. And I’ll be damned for anything to happen to my little brother.
Ivan leaves the room’ the principal glares at Chris.
Principal: Get out of here.
Chris: Huh?
Principal: You’ve been expelled, don’t come back.
Chris: And Andrew!
Principal: OUT!
Andrew laughs; Chris gets angry and storms out of the room. She slams the door so hard the glass breaks. People in the office stare at the door. Chris runs out of the office with tears running down her face; Ivan grabs her wrist and embraces her.
Chris: Ivan…
Ivan: I’m going to get this sorted out… he’s not going to win. No one in this school will.
Walking out of the town jail; Max skips while Ivan walks toward the parking lot.
Max: And the sirens were so cool!
Ivan: Max –
Max: What big brother?
Ivan: Never mind… we’re going to visit Kyo.
Max: Yay, Kyo!
Chris is feeding Kyo pudding when Ivan and Max walk into the room.
Chris: Max!
Max: Hi!
Kyo: You made bail?
Ivan: I met justice…
Belle walks into the room.
Max: Introducing Mayor Belle!
Chris: The mayor?
Belle: I’ve known Max and Ivan for a long time.
Kyo: Ivan, you never told me you knew the mayor.
Ivan: You never asked.
Chris: But what brings the mayor here?
Belle: The injustice in Camdene’s public schools. Letting a student get away with assault? Discriminating against orientation? Expelling all of you but not the ones who caused it all? Don’t you worry about a thing; I’ll have that principal burned down to custodian and all three of those students pressed with charges.
Chris: Wow…
Belle: I don’t tolerate those who discriminate.
The nurse walks into the room.
Nurse: Excuse me, I don’t meant to interrupt but a Max Ruby needs to get a series of shots down.
Max: What for!
Ivan: Max… you have to get Rabies shots…
It’s dark outside the hospital; Ivan walks into the Kyo’s room with a frown on his face. He sits down next to Kyo and puts his head on the bed.
Ivan: He got the shots… they were painful though… he’s asleep now though…
Kyo: I feel so bad for Max…
Ivan: He’ll be okay, I’m just glad you’ll be getting out tomorrow.
Kyo: Me too… I can’t wait to have sex again!
Ivan smiles, leaning in to kiss Kyo’s forehead. The sun shines through the window next morning; Ivan and Kyo wave bye to Chris and Max in the one room and leave the hospital. Ivan gets into the driver’s seat and Kyo gets in the passenger seat. They pull out of the parking lot and down the road. A car out of the parking lot follows them. At Kyo’s apartment; Ivan and Kyo are kissing while Kyo takes off Ivan’s jacket. In the hospital, Chris scratches behind Max’s ears.
Chris: You feel any better?
Max: A little…
Chris: Things are going to get better… I know it.
Max: Mhmmm… I just really want Ivan to be happy…
Chris: Hm?
Max: He was so upset with what happened to Kyo that I was worried…
Chris: Don’t worry about them, they’re one of those couples where nothing stands in there way.
Max: I hope so… I don’t want Ivan to be sad…
Ivan lies snuggled up next to Kyo; Kyo tickles him under the sheets.
Ivan: You stop that.
Kyo: You’ll have to make me.
Ivan: I would but you wore me out…
Kyo: And I was the one in the hospital.
Kyo sighs and runs his fingers through Ivan’s hair. Suddenly, Kyo’s telephone rings.
Ivan: I’ll get it…
Ivan sits up and picks up the phone.
Ivan: Hello? Huh? I’ll be right there.
Ivan hangs up the phone and stands up.
Ivan: I have to go back to the hospital… Max needs me.
Kyo: I’ll go too.
Dressed, Ivan and Kyo run out to the parking lot and get into the car. The car speeds off and the car from the hospital starts to follow right on the cars tail. Chris paces back in forth outside of Max’s room.
Chris: Ivan… where are you?
Everything goes black; screeching tires are heard and crash! A car speeds off and people gather around the totaled car.
Woman: Call an ambulance!
At the scene, a fireman pries off the driver’s door. Ivan is put on a stretcher.
Medic: How is the other one?
Fireman: Not as bad as him, get him to the hospital quick.
Kyo sits in the treatment center getting stitched up. The nurse is talking to him while she stitches him up.
Nurse: You’re lucky compared to him… he was rushed to the trauma center and operated on right away. Broken neck, terrible. He might not make it…
Kyo: Ivan… nurse, can you get me a cup of water?
Nurse: Certainly.
The nurse walks off; Kyo grabs the scalpel off the tray and walks off. Chris sits in a chair sobbing while Max rests in the hospital bed. Kyo goes on top of the hospital roof and looks over the edge. He then looks at a note and tucks it into his pocket.
Kyo: I’d jump but I want to go quickly…
Kyo sits down, he looks at his wrist.
Kyo: I killed you Ivan… if we never met none of this would have happened... I just hope you know I love you…
Kyo takes out the scallop. Ivan opens his eyes and stares at the ceiling.
Ivan: Kyo…
Kyo’s body falls over onto the concrete roof; Ivan weeps as he lies still on the hospital bed with his neck in a restraint. Saikoro gets out of the chair and hugs Ivan who is crying on the couch in the Flaming Snowball office.
Ivan: Kyo, why would you leave me…
