I just thought we could maybe start a review for people who want to try different brands of cigarettes. Like tell why a certain cigarette is good or bad and give it a rating out of 10. I've only smoked three types of cigarettes, so I have no room to talk, so I'd actually like to learn more as well.

Wow, nobody posted, so i guess I'll start with what i smoke.
Parliament Lights 100s: Ok well this is a really good cigarette. It has the recessed filter which is nice, and it doesn't get soggy like some other cigarettes. It has a really smooth taste, but is still strong. I would recommend these for alot of people. I haven't smoked many other brands, but these really give me a rush, and make me feel really relaxed, more than other cigarettes.
Winstons: I used to smoke these because these were the only ones I could get my hands on. Now after smoking Parliament I realize these aren't very good cigarettes. They are a little too strong for my taste, and it makes my throat feel all weird afterwards.
Marlboro Mediums/Reds: Personally, I don't find any difference except MAYBE mediums aren't as strong. But these are overall good cigarettes.
NOW, can anybody else review some other cigarette brands.

I would, but honestly I don't see a huge difference between the three brands that I smoke: Camels, Marlboros, and Basics. I do like that Marlboros and Basics both have menthols in 100s, and I've never found Camels in 100s, but beyond that, I don't notice a huge difference.

I heard that Basics were pretty shitty cigarettes

They're made by Marlboro, but with a lower-quality of tobacco. But I don't smoke my daily cigarettes for the sake of some higher plane or for some aesthetically-pleasing experience. I smoke them basically to get the drug in my system, in which case Basics do that just as well as Camels only for less money.
I do actually prefer Camels, but if I'm not smoking a Basic after a Camel, I don't feel a huge difference. Basics are less smooth, and the menthol tends to get stale faster for some reason.
But otherwise, I get my cigarettey needs met just as well by Basic.
And people are far less likely to bum a Basic off of you.
And, as I said, I can get Basics in 100s, so I don't need to smoke quite as many.

Djarums (the psuedocigar):
Thick and heavy, they offer a range of flavors from the original blacks (which are good from time to time) to the gross Vanilla. They're very sweet because they use the clove, and they take forever to smoke (which is good). In Minnesota, where I live, they run about $6.00 a pack. Kinda steep. I started smoking on them...which is way bad, cause when I tried to inhale for the first time I nearly died from coughing.
They aren't for noobs.

ahh my children gather round and listen...
My marlboros...reds: Reds are your basic cig for those wanting to get on to smoking...but also dont want ot seem to eager or weak. They are strong...but also keep you around for a bit. Wouldnt say this should be your first puff...but its a great flavor to come back to. Blend 27: My favorite marlboro, these babies have a sweeter flavor than reds, dont destroy your throat so bad, and basically...are just a better version of reds...small addition to your price though. Number 72: A small but strong smelling red Light lol...the light is for those who want to start or stop smoking but are havin troubles at either...itll get the nicotine in you without making you a slave ot smoking. Ultralight: Just breathing air in the cold basically...nothing but a puff of smoke. Red 100's: A long a** cig that if you stop smoking for awhile or just arent used to tough cigs...will put you on your a**. I fell in a ditch after quiting for a month and coming back to these babies.
Camels- regs: Camel Regulars are just comparative with Marlboro Reds, except that come up harder, though they do taste better. 100's: Again, comparable to the marlboro red 100, these thins are harder to breathe, though are better tasting. Wides: My second favorite type, the camel wide, is a strong puppy, that if you go without, will probably have to smoke two cigs simultaneously, to get the feeling(i have more than once).
Newport: My first cig, and not very wise choice i might add. Though i had always been around smoke, so was unfased, i felt it the next morning. These things are the Menthol lovers wet dream...good and strong, with a nice aftertaste. I like one after a couple of the other types...like a mint after a meal(yes i chain smoke).
Winston: Not worth your time. A brand that wants to be marlboro, they are cheap, and thats about it...nasty and such a burn.
Swisher Sweets: A good, if not great, cigar type. I love them, and these fill me up. WHen i smoke one(i inhale, supposed to or not) i dont need another cig for about 30 minutes(good for me).
USA Golds: lol...a bargain brand that isnt to bad...but smoke them fast...because they begin to taste funny after only 2 days.
If i smoke another type worth mention...ill post again...but i feel better doing this...

Ok if any of you ever decide to come to Australia you will have a complelty different range of ciggarettes to choose from.
Escorts: These are fairly regular I didn't like them the first time I had them because they leave a yukky after taste in your mouth but are probably the cheapest ciggarettes you could buy here ($10.50 for 25) unless you wanted to buy the really nasty ones that are like 2's or something and I wouldn't touch them with a 10" poll. Escort Virginias: They are pretty much the same as regular escorts. Escort Blues: My personal favourites, not too smooth, but they don't burn. They have a nice taste to them and are relativly inexpensive. Escort reds: Better than regular Escorts, not as good as blues. Most of the people I know smoke these. Holiday menthols: My mother smokes these and I spose if you liked menthols they wouldn't be too bad but after smokeing them it feels like you have just brushed your teeth. Holidays: In general not too bad, more expensive then most- not my preferance. Purple Horizons: An all time favourite among everyone but not smoked as often as everyone would like because they are alot more expensive then the majority of ciggarettes in Australia. They are like evrything you could ever want in a smoke plus more. Peter Jacksons: These tear your throat out and are perfect to kill the cravings if you haven't has one all day. Long beach milds: Give you head spins and destroy your lungs faster than most. I have only recently started smoking these and since then I have gotten a smokers cough. Not the best choice unless you have been smoking for more than 2 years... Or couldn't really care if you died within the next 5. Choice: exactly as the name states they are the best choice to go for if you just want a regular ciggarette that actually tastes like a ciggy is meant to, doesn't rip your throat out but doesn't feel like you are smokeing air either. Leaves a nice after taste I give them a 9.5/10.
Can't really think of any of the other brands that I have tried but when I do I'll be sure to post them.

This may sound stupid, but what's the difference between Marlboro Reds and Marlboro Mediums? I have a pack of both, and they taste almost completely the same.

Warning: I am Canadian. lawl.
Good Medium Bad
Players Light: The most popular cigarette in Canada. Light taste, night too harsh on the inhale. Smell is 50/50
Players Black (The black death): I have only ever smoked one pack of these. Nothing too special. light taste, harsh inhale and an alright smell (I wouldn't want to smell them for too long). The don't look appealing. The paper and filter are black.
#7 Light (Blue): Basically the same as Players Light, but with the harsh inhale of the black death. Smell is 50/50.
#7 Regular (Red): Crappy taste, same harsh inhale as the #7 Lights. Overall bad choice.
Du Maurier Light: Second most sold cigarette in Canada. Pleasing inhale, no bad taste, smell is alright. 75% overall.
Export Light (Gold): My second favorite, next to Players Light. Tiny bit of a harsh inhale, Taste is ok, Smell is nothing too desireable. 90%
Export Regular (Green): The first time I smoked these, they made me sick for hours. They still do. Horrible taste, Very harh inhale, the smell bad, but they don't cost any less. Do not buy.
Madonald Light: Canadas welfare cigarette. Very cheap, but they don't taste too bad, they are smooth and don't smell horrid. Suggested for the less fortunate smoker.
Backwood Cigars: All Natural cigar tabacco wrapped in a leaf. Nice slow burning cigar, good taste (especially when you get the flavored ones), bendable, and affordable.
Aurora Cigars: $12.50 CDN. Not a bad price for a cigar of that size. Not suggested if you want a cigar that you can put out and light back up. Nifty white metal single cigar container with screw on cap provided.
Captain Black Orginals: Not suggested for the amateur cigar smoker. Try Cherry or Sweets. Harsh inhale, decent taste, and a less than desirable smell.
Captain Black Sweets: The most popular mini-cigar in Canada. Like the name says, they're sweet. They are a nice sit, smoke and relax type cigar. Very inexpensive.
Captain Black Black Cherry: My personal favorite cigar. Again, like the name says, it tastes like cherries. Don't get fooled by the taste though, the inhale is harsh as soon as they dry out even the slightest.
Pom Pom: Another mini-cigar that's not hard or the wallet or lungs. My suggested Amateur cigar
Prime Time Chocolate Mint: The Prime Time series has the best flavored mini-cigars. The flavor is put in the tobacco itself and is spraed onto the outside of the filter so it tastes like candy on your lips and tongue Burns almost as fast as a cigarette, no harsh inhale or taste and it smells amazing.
Prime Time Peach: My personal favorite Prime Time mini-cigar. Tastes excellent, smells great, easy inhale, smooth, fast burning. Perfect cigar.
That's all that I can remember smoke for now. If I remember any more I will update it.

ahha. damn guys, good work with the summaries. I don't think I have that much to say. I smoke what's on hand, and that's usually:
--Marlboro Lights: My mom, a heart surgeon, smokes these. They lie around the house looking for a free lung to breathe them, so I oblige. Won't hit you extremely hard, which makes it an easy cigarette to hotbox if you have a little time or are trying to get that ever-elusive nic buzz before your next class. They aren't terribly addictive, either, so a good choice for noobies or those who just need the nicotine to get them through the day.
--Camel Wides: Jesus Christ. I got a carton one time, and it took me ages to finish them. Extremely hard to smoke in one sitting, at least for me, but are loaded with tobacco and nicotine. I'd say enough to smog-out a gopher hole. But, if you wanna look hardcore, just put one of these in your mouth and hold your p***s in the other hand. You'll get looks every time you flick your ash.
-- Marlboro Ultra Lights: I don't mean to condescend, since a cigarette is a cigarette no matter what, but these are very p***y cigarettes. They pack no punch, and it's just like taking a breath of mountain air. They are absolutely dreadful for me, since I have IBS and they make it act up and I have diarrhea for days afterwards. Ultimate noobie cigarette. Makes a Marlboro Light look like a smelting factory.
-- Marlboro Reds: Cowboy Killers! The pop culture picture of manliness, outside of a cigar. I enjoy the taste, although at first it can be a bit overpowering. A great buzz; the concentration of nicotine in these can give a family of roaches in your apartment/house/cardboard box/ 60's woodie wagon a run for their money. The pack is flashy and more recognizable than the McDonald's Arches.
