In the beginning there was only the Nun. The Nun was everything and nothing, all potential and no form: the waters of chaos.

From the Nun rose the very first mound of black, fertile earth, and upon that mound grew a lotus. Its delicate petals opened to reveal a perfectly formed babe nestled in its center.

The babe was Atum long before he came amongst gods and men as Re. Self created, Atum was alone with the waters of chaos.

Then, with a single word, he spoke and created everything: "Be."

-= Current Weather : Mildly hot, with a few clouds on the horizon...

The Desert Kingdom is set in the crook of a flowing river and the steady lake. Here fertile river and lake banks frame the nor'western borders of the large Pride. Lush palms, reeds, and grass flow into a dry grassland and then the large desert. This Pride relies on the migratory patterns of the prey, water animals and fish for it's sustence.

In the morning the Desert Kingdom is pleasantly warm, climbing to a scorching heat during mid-afternoon and settling back into the warmth in the evening before plunging to an icy chill at night. The breezes off the river and lake help keep the dry grassland at a comfortable temperature, yet going too far away will subject any lion to the deserts true force.

Scorpions and snakes are the Prides only true enemies, for the hyena's steer clear of the desert.

Nestled near the river banks to the North are a set of old ruins in which Desert Kingdom is centered around. These massive buildings are the Prides' caves. The open expanses of the ruins provide any cubs with a fantastical playground.

The desert princess had come to settle atop one of the pride's many rocky ruins, watching the star-riddled sky with a fond little smile. She never tired of sights such as these; it was one of many things she loved about her home. The vast ruins, the feel of the sand beneath her paws, the cooling comfort of the oasis... everything. She'd not have traded it, or her pride, for the world.

Even so...

Sakhmet found her gaze trailing into the darkness, towards where she knew the borders lay. She loved her home... but that didn't stop her from wondering. The princess had an insatiable curiousity to her, a sense of wanderlust that had grown with age, though she'd long since learned to keep it in check. Though much time had passed, long enough now for her to grow from a mere kitten to a full fledged lioness, she knew her father's heart still ached heavily from the loss of her mother and sibling. His protectiveness over his remaining bordered on stifling at times, but she bore it with a smile. Sakmet cared deeply for her father, and the last thing she wanted to do was bring more pain to him.

It didn't stop her from wondering... how different would things have been if their family had remained as one...?

Mika'il was curled at the base of the strange statue, dozing. This was a place he often came to rest nowadays. The king's days were growing easier, slowly, with the passage of time. His duties as a king, as a father, were enough to keep his mind occupied. He was pressing forward as best he knew how, though it was more of a struggle than he cared to admit to. It was nights that had proven to be difficult. The oddly comforting nature of the stone creature had proved invaluable since he had lost his love, dulling the ache of his broken heart. Enough to settle his mind for a peaceful night's rest.

But even then, Mika'il's dreams were haunted by images of a beautiful magenta lioness, a son whose life he'd had no part in. The dreams themselves were wonderful... it was waking up to a world without them that sent a fresh dagger plunging into his heart, leaving the gaping wound raw and open. Who knew if he'd ever truly recover?

Kish'ya and Red were laying near each other at the base of a ruined building set off a ways from the others. Red was a teen now.

Kish'ya yawned, her mind wandering to the king that she had followed here so energetically, but who she had spoken with little since. He had been gone for song long that Red and herself had grown close, and treated each other as though they were siblings. At one time, she had considered him as a mate, but was perfectly satisfied with their relationship. Besides, her heart had wondered from her body, and was no longer hers to give.

Red glanced over to Kish'ya. Her mind was wandering to him again. What a shame - she'd never forget him. Especially since they lived so closely. "It's gotten quiet around here..."

Kish'ya nodded, "Ever since Mika'il returned, things have moved slowly along."

((Posting up the RP Twizted and Alex did, then sorting out where to go from there, yus. *nod* :3))

Quote:
[Mika'il] *he reclined in the shade of the goat-headed statue. Stared out over the great expanse of the desert. His tail feathers brushed over his nose, swaying gently back and forth. He was lonely, heartbroken... His daughter was here, easing away some of the pain. It wasn't enough...*

Kish'ya sighed heavily, glancing over the small cliff and down at her king. something didn't seem right with him lately, but she was too afraid to ask what.

It seemed that melancholy was commonplace around here... So the lioness decided that it was time she tried to cure such an affliciton, starting with the king. Heavily, she stood, slinking down the cliff and approaching Mika'il. She gave a bow, "Good afternoon, my King."

[Mika] *he raised his head, tail now curling about his forepaws* Hello Kish'ya. *the smile was dim, but genuine* How have you been faring in Desert Kingdom?

Kish'ya waited a moment before tentatively taking a seat a few feet from her king. It seemed to strained. "Very well, though only because I've had a younger 'sibling' to take care of me." She giggled at these words, remembering various failed hunting trips, and Red always making sure to bring her some food from his trips. "And how have you been?" Ah, the real question was now drawn...

[Mika'il] *hesitates, staring down at the sandstone slabs* I have been... fine. I need to stop neglecting my pride. *pushes himself up into a sitting position*

Kish'ya shrugged. She couldn't verbally deny it - that would be lying. Instead, she attempted another approach, "I'm not sure I believe your statement, but you are ym king, therefore I am inclined ot despite my inner beliefs." Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. Her heart was pounding! Red would have smacked her before she even thought of coming down. Too late now. Can't bail. Have ot make sure Not to let this get the better of me. He's my king, and has cubs. Yeah - keep thinking of the cubs.

Cubs that were now adults. One that wasn't even there. He watched her. His friend since she was a baby. A female who had stayed when he had been gone. "You're right, I don't believe myself." His smile was sad.

The lioness made to rise and move closer, but hesitated, and ultimately stayed put. "Well, that's not a good attitude to have." She gestured with her tail before curling it around her paws, "You're the king of a beautiful pride, and the father of two cubs, now grown. You should be ecstatic with your life... What' wrong?"

Mika smiled softly. "I am proud of Sakhmet. Her brother... I have not seen since he was born." Black eyes surveyed his kingdom. "The Queen... the former Queen... she didn't return. The Pride is Queenless." It hurt that the female he had thought of as mate had not come back here. Had disappeared.

Ah, yes, Kish'ya had had a feeling thisas true, but wanted ot believe otherwise. She oculdn't imagine how much this had hurt Mika'il... Even though her body urged her forward to nuzzle the king to comfort him, she reisted. No, no, wrong time. Bad time. Inappropriate! She simply bowed hre head, "...I'm sorry to hear such news. I didn't mean to bring up such things..."

"This would have come up at some point." Mika said softly. Smiled at Kish'ya. "I am grateful I have you here." The lioness might resist nuzzling the King, but the King had no problem nuzzling her. "Have you hunted today?"

Kish'ya Blushed, but had to chuckle at him, "Oh, my last few hunting trips were a disaster..." she gestured to a wide scar on the back of her right foreleg - an obvious hunting trip gone wrong. "Sp I guess my answer would be... no..." she giggled again. Oops - the truth was out.

He grinned. A real one. "Hunt with me?" Claws scrapped across the sandstone. Mika hadn't hunted in a long time. Hadn't wanted to. Now he did. Kish'ya was making him feel better. Easing a bit of the ache away.

Kish'ya winked, "As long as I don't get killed, I'd be happy to. We can't starve." She giggled - this was so relaxing! She could fel the dark cloud over the pride easing up, even if just a slight bit. A little bit is all they needed right now...

The mysterious form came across the horizon. He was walking...and not planning on stopping. He came to the boarders, but did not announce himself. Why should he? The male flicked his tail, gray mane falling over its face hiding it well. His magenta fur gleamed in the desert sunlight, the stripes along his forepaws seeming to glow. He had business here with the King, and didn't intend to leave until he saw him. Seeing no one, the male jumped up on the platform of the ruins. He felt like he had been here before...like a familiar presence. He stared out into the day, just like his mother had when she first came here...

Not such a far reach across the sands of the pride, the desert princess had come to warily trail the male at a distance. Her eyes were narrowed, tail twitching thoughtfully.

There was no denying her curiousity. Barring those within her own pride (a grand total of two), Sahkmet hadn't encountered many males since her days as a mewing kitten. And those were long past, memories blurring and melding together over the course of time.

But her father's words were loud and clear as ever, and that rang especially true when it came to males. Especially strange ones who came trouncing into the pride like they owned the place. Not even so much as a roar to announce himself. No matter how curious she may have been, her father's wishes came first.

True, this one was... familiar, in a strange sort of way... but it had been too long, and much had changed since then. It was little more than a nagging itch at the back of her mind.

She turned on her heel, hoping she hadn't been spotted as she made for the depths of the ruins. A roar, especially this near the stranger, would only draw attention to herself -- the male had stopped moving, and she could only hope he stayed put as she went to seek out Mika'il face-to-face. Knowing her father, he wouldn't be far from the goat-headed statue he seemed so fond of.

Or she hoped not.

He had felt himself being followed. Good, he got his attention. Still staring over at the now setting son, the male settled down upon his haunches, his tail flicking gently. All the better to give the King his mind...This time, he let the snarl roll from his muzzle.

Mika'il. The Desert King. Father of two cubs, both missing. His mate...unknown. The magenta kept it this way. After the disappearence of the female, he may have found a new mate. That's how fickle he thought the King to be. Gone from one lioness to another. Probably wouldn't surprise him if he was with one right now...

At this point, the big male's claws were unsheathed clawing at the stone structure. Wait until he saw the male...he would rip him to shreds for leaving his family behind. How when his sister got lost in the scorching deserts, they went to look, got lost, and came back to an empty pride. How his mother and him had left to find his stupid father and sister and had gotten lost even more. How he tried to stay with his mother, but both were seperated in a devestating attack from rogue lions. He continued to let the snarl roll from his throat, eyes intensely burning.

The Desert Prince was out for blood...his father's blood.

Kish'ya's head bolted up at the sight of a strange male. Red's head followed hers.

The ruin they were resting on overlooked much of the pride, and thee borders were only blocked on the far side, not where he had entered.

"Who's that...? He didn't announce himself, yet entered the borders without a care in the world..." Kish'ya glanced to Red, but kept her eye on the stranger.

Red shook his head, but sat up, keeping keen eyes on the stranger as well, "I'm not sure... Doesn't look familiar. Doesn't look friendly, either."

Kish'ya pawed at the ground out of nervous habit, "What should we do?"

Red settled himself down, closer to her now, "Stay out of sight and see what he wants. No doubt, Mika'il will be soon to come. We don't want to be the cause of any trouble, though."

Kish'ya nodded, nuzzling her adopted brother. Oh, what if they were seen!?
