I haven't, but I'm taking a course in media studies next year, and I've heard that the final project involves making a video of anything you want. The end of the school year is conveniently close to Anime North, which is what I usually finish my costumes for. Ohoho.
Speaking of fan films, has anyone seen Fullmetal Fantasy yet? It's a film made by the English voice actors from Fullmetal Alchemist, and it involves the VAs cosplaying as their characters. It's utterly priceless, and you can only view it at conventions. If an upcoming con has Vic Mignogna as a guest of honor, they'll probably be screening FMF. ^_^ OMG! I want to see that!
That sounds ridiculously funny^_^
I actually took part in a DBZ fan film (Guess who I was...) It ended up being utterly ridiculous and looked like a group of fanboys playing around rather than a film. Me and several of my acting buddies who were involved did so purely for the chance to do wire fighting. The script was lousy, the director had no clue how to establish a scene or explain what he wanted from the actors.
Me and the bad guy (a lame made up character) ended up choreographing an awesome fight that involved jumping from tree to tree in a forest preserve while fighting...We managed to do it (only injury was a broken ankle...yeah, that hurt), and the fight itself looked professionally done (Me and the guy who did it both have black belts in multiple fighting styles). Wouldn't you know it? The only scene worth doing got cut. The director's reason was s**t too. "It made the rest of the film look bad" was his excuse. I told him "No, the cheesy dialogue and lousy cinematography made it look bad". Hell even the SSJ Scenes were cut. Even After I spent 5 hours getting the hair to look right.
Anyways, given my outspoken thoughts on the director I wasn't asked back to do the ADR for it. (Additional Dialogue Recording) is done when you cant hear what the actor is saying, basically the line is dubbed in.
The look that the characters had in the film were varied, since we all did our own costumes. Mine looked nice since I actually spent money on it and made it somewhat normal (despite the oddly colored costume). Piccolo looked alright, not great, but I've seen worse. Krillin was perfect (a 4'11" bald asian guy played him
xd ) Yamcha sucked, Vegeta had a beer gut (Don't ask...bad casting choice). Tien was cut, and the bad guys were lame.
But after all the bs, I had fun doing the fighting and stuff, despite the bad director, script and camera work. I'd make another one, but only if I have confidence in the creative development of the project....
.....I just realized the b*****d who directed that owes me money too....but not for the film...I lent him money to get his camera...so....yeah....anyhooo..
Anybody else have any stories like this?
