my colorguard instructors are into pushing the guard more and making them better. So this year since the riffle line could somewhat do quads last year they decided to put them in the marching show. Ok so it my first year on riflle and im having to do four quads and my show. I can finally do them almost every time but now im not as good at my triples. so I was wondering if anyone has had to do quads their first year?

No, I wasn't very good my freshman year and could only spin Sabre and Flag. But It was my Sophmore year I started on Rifle but I got really good on every equipment that year.
But I suggest you talk to the vets and your instructor about special tricks, something that will help you get the strength to toss and the spin to toss and just special little things that might help you achive it. Also other freshmen might be able to help aswell since they are at the same level you are. Just keep working at it.

Well, this is my first time doing rifle and sabre for winter season. And we're supposed to be going up to quints. So although it hasn't officially happened yet, it looks like I will be doing even more than quads for my first year on weapons. Fun times.

I'm a junior and can throw pretty decent fives now, but I know freshman and beginning of sophomore year I couldn't throw great quads.
The worst is when my director is having us throw five after five, then she goes, "okay, now doubles" and we all overtoss the first few. rolleyes
If you were following my weapon-line drama from this summer, you may be interested to know that I'm not officially on rifle line yet this winter, but I think my director is beginning to realize she may lose me as a member if she doesn't put me on the line. I'm pretty sure I'm not on sabre line, though (I'm no good at sabre, anyway).

I just started tossing a rifle since Christmas. I wanted to twirl a sabre for a pep rally but the Capt said I had to be able to throw a quad on rifle before starting sabre. So I got the quad down today and at school on Tuesday I'm gonna toss it and tell him to hand over the sabre.

Okay, so, first time my sister ever seen a rifle, the instructor placed it in her hands and said, throw a six [she and two others were going to be our first rifle line. One's the bitchy-diva type, and was doing it for the first time, but he made my sis try first. The other girl spun rifle before.] So, my sister was stupid and tried dooing a six, and broke her finger. [Dumbass...]
So, the enxt season, Michael handed me a rifle and was, like, "Let's see if you're better than your sis. Throw a six." I threw a very baaaaaaad... triple. He was so happy though. But in our show, I had to throw FIVES! I was a newbie and a Freshy. I kinda just stared at him, liek, "Are you serious....?" But, my sis was on the weaponline with me, doing rifle, and a ntoher girl was doing rifle, too, and she was new. So, I didn't feel so bad. [Our rifle lines in Marching band are, like, three people only.]

i had to throw a five my fish year and it was hard but the key to getting a high toss out is to pull down when you release

I was always told to push my right hand down more, since my tosses are pretty lofty to begin with.
I always had the right height, but, like, a spin too little.
But now, I'm really good at it.

The most I had to do was a double in my winter show, and we didnt have weapons in field. (stupid paul)

My first year I had to toss a 5 it wasn't pretty but I eventually got it, that was my sophmore year winter season, I had to do a toss 7 roll down catch my senior year winter, it was pretty nice. but then it got changed to just taking a knee.

I am really good with the flag and am ok with the rifel but i need to practice some more. if anyone has suggestions on the rifle can they message me? thank you for the help smile
