Did anything that Darren Shan has written make you cry?

Personally, I was afraid to cry for Larten, because then it was like accepting his death, and I didn't want to accept it. I could not and did not want to accept the fact that he was gone. I still do not. But the tears came eventually, and they do everytime I re-read that part, and the part where Darren has a hard time about Larten's death.

I know, sounds like I am talking about a real person, does it not? Well, blame Darren, it is his fault for making his characters so alive and so real (not that it is a bad thing), and making them touch your heart as if they were someone who stood you close.

I also shed some tears for Sam, Gavner, Kurda, Shancus and Vancha. Vancha because of the part in the last book where you think he is dead.

Then there is two more parts of the series that had me practically bawling my eyes out. The scene in the last book when Darren sees Larten's performance one last time, and of course, the end.

... Farewell world! Goodbye Darren Shan! So long old friends and allies! This is it! The stars draw me towards them. Explosions of space and time. Breaking through the barriers of the old reality. Coming apart, coming together, moving on. A breath on the lips of the universe. All things, all worlds, all lives. Everything at once and never. Mr. Crepsley waiting. Laughter in the great beyond. I'm going ... I'm ... going ... I'm ... gone.

THE END.

THE SAGA OF DARREN SHAN

I didn't actually cry at the deaths but I was close. I was EXTREMELY close with Larten and I actually think my eyes did water. The only part I did actually shed tears was at the end of the last book. Half because it was sad and half the way it was written I had to accept the fact the saga was over.

I did cry for Larten. It was extremely depressing!! It made me sick the way Darren got our hopes up...and then let them down again! I haven't read the last book!! >< So yeah...I'll probably cry when I do though.

Even men cry, we won't laugh or anything if you did. We'll just think that you're more of a man for you accepting that you did cry.

I cried when Larten died and at the end of the saga. I thought it was really touching and I also got teary eyed when Kurda was killed, he only had the clan in his heart when he did that.

I think thats a little mean. I mean, I didn't cry but to discard the deaths of so many as whatever isn't a very nicce thing to do.

Cruelty has become a part of our daily life, and people deal with tragedies like 9/11 almost every day, although we may not know about half of it. Do you hear about school massacres in other countries? No. It's only because it happened in the US it became such a big deal (to us outside the country, that is). If that had happened in either Iraq or Pakistan, it would probably barely reach the news because the currency is far more important, and no one except the people who it concerned would give a s**t. Hell, people would care more about Anna Nicole's death than the death of a thousand arabians!

What I'm trying to say is, I don't blame anyone for having a 'whatever' attitude towards 9/11 or the students who were brutally murdered a month ago. Millions of people in Africa die every year due to AIDS, and yet we don't care. Thousands of humans in the Middle-East die at the hands of soldiers, and we don't care. But when no more than 20 give or take students are murdered in the US, the whole world should grief? Call me heartless and cold, but I don't think that's right.

I've been given the impression that when something happens in America, the whole world has to know. But if something similar happens in Japan, it's not that important anymore. Do Americans set themselves higher than the rest of the world, or is it just like that because USA is more or less the most powerful country in the world?

I'm sorry if I offended anyone, it wasn't my intention. But I personally don't like the country, although I do like the people who live there, minus Bush and his gang.

And yeah, this has totally nothing to do with the point of this thread, but whatever. XD

I cried like...a lot in this series.

I cried when Mr. Crepsley died
I cried when Darren died.
I cried when Kurda died.
I cried when Shancus died.
I cried when Steve died (even though I didn't like him)

I'm a crybaby... crying
