The Sun's Touch

Or Lack Thereof...
-Forward-
The line between horror and fantasy is not always easy to draw... Some of the authors whose work laid the foundations of the Dungeons and Dragons game- such as Fritz Leiber, Robert E. Howard, and Clark Ashton Smith- wrote tales that could easily be called horror as fantasy, and many of the spells, characters, and monsters that appear in the core D&D rules are quite horrific. In a world where elves, healing magic, and other fantastic things are free... why emphasize the dark side of D&D's heroic fantasy? Because it's fun. Horror lavishes attention on the dark side of fantasy- painting horrible monsters in bold strokes but also including plenty of subtle shades of gray, particuarly in the complex motivations of the heroes... this is what I'm settin gout to do in The Sun's Touch. This interactive tale I have tried on a quite a few people in reality, and they haven't been quite the same since... I will now attempt to do the same in text. .. with plenty of nostalga of famous Horror Movie creatures. Welcome the feeling of The Sun's Touch.
-Intro-
Nuitari has risen... the deep black moon rises in the night sky, casting permanent darkness on most who gaze into it for too long... with it's rise, several of the world's leaders fell... dead in thier sleep. This was the first in many bad omens of the world... the second being all of the animals simply dissapearing... even the domestic animals. Some returned.... but some mutated into horrific beasts, returning only to devour thier keepers.
Magic has always been around in this world... the elves in thier forests, the dwarves in thier mountains... court wizards advise kings, and warmages aid in war... but never had people seen magic like this. As Nuitari rose, the great kingdom of Nexus, a landlocked city, sunk below ground and was not seen... until fishermen off the far coast found it's tallest tower sticking out of the ocean, bodies floating around it... some partially eaten.
Dark creatures have risen... from monsters terrorizing the forests... to wizard's golems going berserk... and even a black-scaled horror being seen in dreams... adventurers go out to destroy these creatures, never to be seen again...
Meanwhile, in the relatively peaceful realm of Sunfane, people go about thier daily lives... this is where the story begins.
-Characters-
Hearing all that up there, you probably want to have a special character. S'alright. Though remember: While your character has heard of, and maybe seen magic... no one can use it yet. You're all, nonmagical, nonheroic people in the beginning. Maybe a town gaurdsman, a blacksmith, even just a barmaid! Just think of 'normal' in this magic society.
There are, of course, more races available... mostly, all the Tolkien races. Think Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Hobbits, Gnomes, and Half-elves.
So please, fill this out and send it to me to look over... and remember, no magic quite yet. Another issue is the thought of 'stats'... which you need to play in this. There are six stats, each at 8. You have 16 points to spread among them. Remember, 10 is the stat a normal human being has at that stat... it comes in handy to have a varied party! Also, your 'Special Skill' is something you character is good at... for instance, they might be Acrobatic, they could be a Thief, have Marital Training, or even have attended Magic College... basically, it's something that may help you later on...
