I've recently completed a stage 1 install of Gentoo. However, when I startx, it gives me a 640x480 display. I've edited my XFree86 multiple times. I even copied over my xorg.conf in Slackware ( which works nicely ) to my XF86Config file. However that did not work. I know it's recognizing the i810 driver, but it's still not letting me get a higher resolution. Here is one of the configurations that I have done to XF86Config.

I also entered the /usr/src/linux directory and did
make modules && make modules install
so that it would recompile the driver and reinstall it. Though there is still no luck. Perhaps the driver is bad?
