I suffer from microfiber neuropathy.. which, ive pretty much taken all medicines for pain and muscle relaxants.. and short of Vicodin.. nothing works.. i dont have the money for vicodin.. nor do i want to take it.. as we're *trying* to start a family.

Ok.. I have tried everything that a doctor can prescribe.. and almost all "healing" "advanced-healing" lotions/medications..

My neuropathy causes me to have intense itching in my legs from about the tops of my knee's down.. whenever i lay down, and get up.. so mainly at night and in the mornings for a few hours. Ive tried taking anti inflamatories for it. But it still doesnt help.. there's nothing really there to stop but the nerves jumping around. From all my itching.. which i cant really help as it is really bad, ive caused dry cracked skin and some places.. skin that just flakes off and seems to be discoloured.. not so much like scars but just really damaged skin.. I dont have a bathtub so i cant really bathe in anything to sooth it when it happens. it all mostly turns into a big sore rash...

I also have intense pain from the mid-lower section of my back down to the bottoms of my feet. to sum it up, as best i can.. some days. it feels like someone has cut the bottoms of my feet off and im walking on burning hot salt grains.. for every step.

So.. to my question for you. If anyone would like to shed some light onto my little corner of the world. Are there any herbs or rubs i could make to put on my skin to help it get some of it's life back.. either sooth some of the burning rash/hurt skin. Or get it to start healing a little faster. Also, Is there any sort of oil/herb ANYTHING.. i could try to help some of the muscle aches and pains i suffer pretty much daily. Im not looking for a 100% cure, just something to take the painful edge off.

I have a great source for herbs and such.. if anyone has ever heard of it. "Sunharvest" local healthfood/natural food store. lots of stuff in cheap bulk. So im sure i could find a wide range.. but the people there arent.. really.. all too sure of stuff. Thanks for the help.

Oh, wow. Ouch. *thinks* Well... oatmeal baths, but since you can't actually -bathe- in it, try using an oatmeal soap in the shower? Or maybe a little linen bag with oatmeal in it. It might help the itching... Um....

You might look for oils containing St. Johns Wort, Calendula, Comfrey, and or lavender. All of them are incredibly healing...

You know, I don't know what causes your condition, so it's hard to think of possible treatments. Even when I google for it, all I find is "peripheral or diabetic neuropathy" and nothing about "microfiber" neuropathy. Can you tell us a little more about it?

Ive honestly never found any information but what my doctor told me, and from all that i suffer, i would actually assume it to being Peripheral Neuropathy... which is a disorder where it disrupts

as for information.. the most basic info i can quote for you

Quote:
Peripheral Neuropathy, also known as Peripheral Nerve Disease, is one of the most common diseases most people have never heard of (15-20 million Americans have it). Caused by deterioration of the peripheral nerves, neuropathy disrupts the body’s ability to communicate with its muscles, organs and tissues. It is like the body’s wiring system going haywire, causing unusual or unpleasant irritations including tingling, burning, itchiness, crawling sensation, dizziness, clumsiness and more. If ignored, as they too often are, these neuropathy symptoms can lead to numbness at one extreme to unremitting pain at the other. However, if diagnosed and treated early, peripheral neuropathy can often be controlled. The Neuropathy Association is dedicated to raising awareness of peripheral nerve disease and finding its cure.

ive been hypoglycemic for about 15 years.. very borderline diabetic for about 2 years now.. which ive gotten used to.. but seems to be causing alot of problems and helping this one along.

i can dig up more information.. but for right now thats about the basic info..

i take Neurontin 6 times a day for it also. im not good with herbs so im not too sure if anything would react. id have to ask my neurologist..

a comfrey rub is good anything to stimulate circulation. You need to elevate your legs above your heart when the swelling is bad or they become red. Be cautious with the stimulant rubs if your skin becomes tight or begins to deteriorate, switch then to moisturising lotions.

Of course always check with your doctor. *nods* They'll know what not to take along your medication!

Hm... if it's an actual -nerve- trouble, I don't know what you can do, really. Most external treatments only treat skin trouble- itching or pain from something in the skin. But you can always try! ^_^

nerve damage is trickey. I don't think that there's any sort of cure for neuropathy. I know that my mohter has something simmilar to this, and the docs can only do their best to keep it in remission.
But if I hear anything, or find anything online, I'll let you know.
